DeSantis & Newsom Debate

I watched about 3/4 of the debate last night and came away with this opinion -- DeSantis was smarter, more knowledgeable, had the facts on his side, and called out Newsom when he told a lie. Newsom was not used to being challenged, made up lies, and at times all he could do was flash a big smile or tilt his head from side to side.
DeSantis pointed out the difference between how the two governors were running their state . . . Florida has no income tax, Florida gasoline is cheaper, California has a higher crime rate, Florida has a law against teaching sex in K through 3, California does not have school choice, Florida is not a sanctuary state and is against open borders, California allows people to defecate in public (DeSantis even produced a map showing where all the deposits were left), and people are moving out of California while people are moving to Florida.
Newsom was ill-prepared because he is Governor of a liberal state where the local media and the national media never challenge him. His liberal policies have failed the citizens of California. Thus during the debate he was forced to defend his failing policies and he couldn't do that because he didn't have the facts on his side. Looks and a big smile, with slick talking points, and a supporting media will only carry you so far -- as Newsom learned last night when he met a real savvy leader.

 

I doubt newsome could carry his own state

 

Watched none of it. Didn't care.
Neither are important enough to give a rats patooty.

 

I listened and watched parts of the debate...more political theater, bad theater but theater none the less

desantos just kept repeating himself, then waited for another Hannity set up
his only reply to Newsome was "you are a liar" over and over again

desantos trashed California to no end ..despite 40 million Americans call it home,,this shows desantos lack of wisdom

like it or not .. California is part of the country, and like it or not it is the richest and most populated ..it aint going no where

Newsome did not do well..but he did not trash Florida, but he did trash desantos policies

Newsome is smart enough to know in 2028 he may need the people of Florida to support him.

a side note...desantos claims all the victories he had in Florida..

but no one points out that the GOP has a super majority...desantos did not do anything except sign whatever the GOP told him to sign
the 6 week abortion ban in Florida for example...the only part desantos played in passing the law was signing it as told

desantos is basically became a puppet to the GOP of Florida..

when one team is much larger than the other it is easy to win

and Newsome was correct,,,desantos did close down florida during covid ..until the Trumpers in LA told him otherwise

Newsome did not point out desantos fired the woman keeping the statistics on covid...she maybe needed firing..but desantos then ordered covid records be kept private

and Newsome did not mention the insurance rates in Florida...yes homeowners rates have skyrocketed..
but so has car insurance rates..

just like the GOP vice presidential debates... both are lame

if desantos does not get a HUGE boost having the balls to debate Newsome he should dropout and wait for another time

desantos is a young man without the life experience and wisdom needed to be a leader...he is not even 50...he still has a lifetime to be important

newsome has 10 years more of life experience and wisdom than the young redneck from Jacksonville

I did not agree with much of what was said but I whole heartily agreed with Newsome when he said

neither of us will be a nominee for president

yes Florida was closed during covid

 

It's important to some because both of these governors want to move into the White House. But if I was a liberal democrat I would not have watched because it was like a boxing match between Mike Tyson (R) and Pee-wee Herman (D).

LOL-- your impression sure doesn't match the clips, I've seen! While, of course, clips can be used to paint an unfair portrait of the larger event, DeSantis was absolutely having his ass handed to him, by Newsom, who I'd never heard speak, before, and who I thought was very effective, and polished (and "strong-- very powerful").

But tell you what: if you can offer what you think of as some DeSantis high points, I will watch them, with an open mind, to see how well they balance the snips I've seen in the liberal media (of Newsom going to town, against DeSantis-- who seemed flummoxed, and unable to muster much of a rebuttal).

 

The whole debate is on YouTube and watching it won’t change your opinion much. For being in friendly territory and aided by questionable “facts”for instance, data from one year (2019) or use of totals rather percentages in state comparisons to frame questions DeSantis should have done better.

 

And if most, as in most of the country, don't care for either corrupt party?
It was mostly then, kindergartners talking about nothing.

 

I heard greasy Gavin lied about California having a lower unemployment rate than Florida.

To use your boxing match analogy is was like one fighter having to battle against his opponent and the referee at the same time. It was a classic Faux production, unfair and unbalanced. Despite that Newsom did a good job at what he seemed to be there for, defending Biden's job performance.

 

In other words it is true unless you can prove me wrong...sounds like a debate tactic.

 

Newsom showed that he is a superb liar. He is slick, handsome and has a superficial presidential look. If he wasn’t in politics, he would a superb, luxury used car salesman. He also has a nasty edge and can be pushed into making personal attacks as illustrated when he called DeSantis “a bully.”

As such, he is very dangerous. He has failed as California Governor, but all of that can be swept under the rug long enough to get him elected. If Biden does have a medical problem that takes him out of the race, Newsom will be a force.

I’m not sure if Newsom is acceptable to Obama, who is now the shadow president. It would interesting to see if the Obama faction will accept him or push for their alternative candidate.

Newsom was prepared in that he has that sick little smile most all of the time and his game is to deceive!

 

DeSantis only had high opinions regarding the general population and geography of Kalifornia. He only called out how it has been governed and having a mass Exodus of it's citizens. I know a lot of Kalifornia refugees that are not happy about it either.

You give away your sentiment by using the racist slur "redneck" when referring to DeSantis. If you agree with Newsom that Biden could still govern at 100 then you also must acknowledge he is merely a puppet and others like Obama and crew pull his strings and could do that even with a dead man!
