Despite the rampant populism throttling the morals of Florida, Disney is still doing business.

In this case apparently hosting a gay rights summit at one of their Florida resorts.

I imagine selling your resort services to paying customers may even be legal in Florida.

I do have to hand it to this group, holding their conference in the most in-your-face-Desantis way imaginable.

Careful Florida. Gay people may be visiting your state!

    https://www.newsweek.com/disney-world-defies-ron-desantis-lgbtq-summit-1789522

The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is scheduled to host what has been billed as the "largest LGBTQ+ conference in the world" later this year, in a move that could trigger conflict with Governor Ron DeSantis who has already clashed with the entertainment behemoth over LGBTQ rights.

Out & Equal, a group that campaigns for gay, lesbian and transgender rights in the workplace, is due to hold its 2023 workplace summit at the resort, from September 11-14.

In February, DeSantis signed into law a bill appointing a five-person board to oversee Reedy Creek Improvement District, which Disney has managed as a largely self-governing authority over the past 50 years.

The move followed a statement from Disney criticizing DeSantis's Parental Rights in Education legislation, dubbed the "Don't Say Gay Bill" by critics. Under this legislation, any discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity is banned in Florida's schools, up until the fourth grade.

Perhaps Florida and MAGA's favorite alleged child sex trafficker is thinking of renewing his annual pass to Disney Resorts.

It doesn't sound like Disney is organizing the event, but rather another organization is doing it, and they chose the Disney resort as the place to hold it.

Will DeSantis try to stop it? Probably not, unless he has more ammo to use other than liquor license, because that probably won't work, and he already played the special district card. Maybe he'll figure our another way to harass them, or drive them out of business.

Florida is going to become the gay capital of the states if they keep it up.

The thing about rights, people go out of their way to break rules that violate them. The more Florida tries to silence them, the louder they will get.

Well that was an ugly statement.

Why would this gathering create a conflict? These people are free to associate with whoever they want wherever they want. The odd thing is that, instead of boycotting Florida, these people are running to it and they’re bringing their cash with them.

Florida has a huge gay population, so in a way its already a gay capital.

Funny that you mention, but when Florida banned bikinis in State Parks, it caused bikini sales to skyrocket, so yes, such government action can cause the opposite to happen.

Help me out here. These people could have gone to a liberal city deemed more friendly to LGB people, cities like LA, NYC, San Fran, Chicago, etc, but they chose to give DeSantis their money. Can anyone think of a reason they wouldn’t hold their gathering in any of the cities I mentioned? I’m thinking it’s because 5000 people may go there but how many would survive not being robbed or murdered?

Eh, those people aren't very intelligent. They're looking for attention by stirring the pot, that's why they're wanting to do this in Florida. In reality, the ones who care will just avoid it until the event is over. You've seen how aggressive the liberal is, they think since they're aggressive, everyone else is too. They think they're trolling Conservatives.

This reminds me of the football game between UMass and Liberty last year. UMass decided to have another Pride Day when Liberty came to town, had shirts made for it and everything, because they wanted to trigger the fans and players at Liberty since Liberty doesn't allow openly gay PDA (or any PDA, but the intelligence flowing out of UMass overlooked that), and not one single Liberty fan or player cared. UMass even trotted some gay chick waving a rainbow flag out there for the coin toss and the Liberty guys shook her hand. It was also one of the lowest attended games of the year.

Yes, kind of like that. If gun industry was money-smart, they'd lobby for Dems every time, but I guess it rubs too much against the grain.

Orlando, like all bigger cities, in Florida is a liberal & gay friendly city, and of course they also want to come and say "up yours" DeSantis.

They chose Florida because trolling those who actively piss on the Constitution and rights to ALL Americans is much more fun.

You just know poor lil Ron is pissed too. LMAO

    Maybe they shouldn't include children.
Seems to be a problem with the gay and trans communities displays.
Seems that was the last reason DeSantis had to get involved.
Revoking a Miami hotels liquor license over a sexually explicit Drag Queen show with lewd and vulgar displays in front of children.

Seems every time Disney gets involved its over exploiting children to gay and trans activities.

You would think after Disney losing against DeSantis costing them their Reedy Creek privileges and their stock tanking, they might learn something.
But then again, its run by leftist woke corporate types so thats really self explanatory.

Nobody in Florida cares about gays. They have been a part of Florida since before you were born.
Its only when people try and indoctrinate children with gay and trans ideologies that the people of Florida shut them down.
Just like they did in the schools
Just like they did in Miami.
And if they continue, they will learn the same lesson Disney did.
Go woke, go broke in Florida.
    Good for them.

I'm not sure you said the Reds favorite boogeyman word "woke" enough to get your full check.

Maybe you can tell us all what every other red can't seem to do........what exactly is "woke?"

Y'all reds are afraid and despise "woke" so much, perhaps you can shed some light what it is.

Also, not sure if you are aware or not, but Governors change through the years. Disney will be fine and will thrive long after Governor Fascist is gone.

It’s a very simplistic definition, one created by children for children

Woke = anything they don’t like

They have to have their buzz words

It’s interesting that the same people saying they are protecting children where extremely quiet when the thousands of actual child rapes were discovered in religious orgs but someone wearing the wrong clothing seems to be where they draw the line.

Oh ffs. Every employer with more than a thousand or so employees has a few bad apples. Also, Rufo is a know far right wing ideologue known to make mountains out of clouds for people gullible enough to believe him.

Homosexuality cannot be taught. You're either born that way or you aren't. As for Critical Race Theory, unless you're in law school, it isn't on your curriculum.

Well, that would be less than half the story which in turn only works on such a very small minority of the population, its not even noticeable.
Lets us know how that works out for ya though. Would love to hear more.

    Maybe like,
The new law in Florida that stops leftist wokeisum from indoctrinating 5 year olds with trans and gay sexuality issues
    Or maybe like
A theme park that thought they would spend millions to reverse state legislation, but wound up losing their Reedy Creek status while their stock tanked to less than half its value
    Or maybe like
DeSantis new law protecting 5 year olds is supported overwhelmingly by Democrats in his state
    Or maybe like
In retaliation a Miami hotel hosted a lewd and vulgar Drag Queen show with children in attendance and lost their coveted liquor license

Seems the obsession is hosted by the ones who continue to lose.
Its no wonder DeSantis is one of the most popular Governors in the country.
And just like Trump, the left keeps him popular.
