I took my new Benjamen Marauder out hunting this weekend. Bagged seven squirrel and a couple of rabbits. I also have deer and hog hunted with my Quackenbush. Just curious if anyone else has hunted this way? It is definitely more challenging as range is limited.
I used to shoot highly modified Benjamin air rifles, modified for CO2, very accurate and sadly, no longer made as the only two gunsmiths that modified them, have since passed on..... Benjamin’s 347 multi-pump was sold between 1969 and 1992. The Benjamin 347 is a single-shot, multi-pump pneumatic made by the Benjamin Air Rifle Company of St. Louis from 1969 through 1992.
Used to have a scoped Sheridan clone in 5mm when in college... poached quite a few squirels with it in a county park in the days where no one gave it much thought (of course, it helped, an American uncle was the County game manager).
Ayuh,..... Define "Hunt",..... I've got an ole japanese .22cal. co2 rifle I found in the back of a closet in a house I bought, that I shoot water snakes with quite often,...... While it's iron sights are dead-on, hittin' snake heads the size of a nickle at 50', gets tougher as I age,..... Bought a .177 Ruger break-barrel pump-up, with a claimed 1100 fps, 'n scope, thinkin' I'd use it to shoot water snakes,.... Took it out in the backyard to sight it in on a 5gal. plastic pail,..... it shot clean through both ends of the bucket,.... 1st shot, Floored me,.... It kicks harder, 'n is LOUDER than my .22 rimfire rifle,.... No good,... Quieter is what I wanted,.....
Yeah, in PA I don't think it's legal to hunt game with an airgun, no matter how powerful. I use mine to slay varmints though.
bought my son the top of the line Swedish FX a couple years ago as a 18th birthday present. It has a built in suppressor and he already had an air compressor. he wasted crow at 80M with one and killed a medium sized coyote with a 45 yard head shot
The local hunting Facebook page recently showed a picture and story of a 10 year old with his dad who took a wild turkey with an air rifle.
