So....why is this Administration, and Democrats in general, so opposed to making sure that non-citizens are not on voter rolls? That steps are taking to make sure that non-citizens are not voting? This does not affect citizens from voting. Its done to people who have self-identified as non-citizens.

Yep, I did. Like it or not, the reason that they are suing is because they removed confirmed non-citizens from the voter rolls. You can pretend otherwise, but it is a factual statement. And yes, I know you're referring to the "Quiet Period Provision". Might be worth it if this had affected citizens. But its not. Its being used as nothing more than an excuse to try and keep non-citizens on the voter rolls. Why is that?

Democrats don't want people voting who shouldn't be voting and they want to safeguard the integrity of our elections..... And yet they fight tooth and nail against every measure to make sure that those things are true

So you admit you don't care about the law if it gets in the way of what you want. Got it.

Seems like this would fall into the individualized information exception to the federal law.

No, it removes people that may or may not have mis checked a box on a DL form. In other reports it was found many legal voters made this error. So no, no one was confirmed as illegally registered let alone voting illegally only that they failed to contest their legality in a maner that satisfied the state. The state then waited until the last possible day to start the process and added to the list after which is where they got in trouble.

This does not prove any illegal voting. It does prove the state's disrespect for the law.

Perhaps if a voter isn't careful enough to indicate that they are a United States citizen they are also not careful enough to chose a competent representative. While I actually advocate a cooperative Republic where everyone always gets a representative if they so choose, I'm reasonably sure careless low-effort choices still don't result in a good outcome.

Leave it to FOX to twist it to sound like it's about non-citizens. They do it to manipulate their audience, and based on the responses it's working. They are suing Virginia for violating National Voter Registration Act (NVRA). Period. It's not about favoring, or not favoring non-citizens.

One day they complain that laws are enforced, and the next day they complain that they ARE enforced. Whatever suits the mood.

God knows who they purged, and if they purged eligible voters, they won't have the time to correct the issue, which seems to be the goal here.

Obey the law, and stay out of the courtroom. It's as simple as that. Either that, or change the law,

There is so much effort made to get people off the polls it is absurd.
An illegal alien is not going to go near a polling station if for no other reason than fear of getting caught and expelled for 20 years.
A legal alien is unlikely to try and vote illegally for fear of losing their legal status.
That leaves only the millions of eligible by birth or newly Americans that are under attack. These poll purges are almost always, who am I kidding, are always aimed at minorities and the poor. Why do you (anyone) suppose that is?

The timing makes no difference. If you aren't a citizen, you cannot vote. Period. HOW those people got on the voting rolls in the first place is a question begging for investigation and corrective actions. Removing them from a list they should never have been on in the first place is correct at anytime- and especially with an election coming soon.

People in our government are duty-bound to ENFORCE the law and the constitution, not subvert it. The swamp continues to evade reform...

What a terrible thing to actually verify that people are eligible to vote.

I would think that giving people a reason to have faith in the integrity of the election system would actually be perceived as a good thing, but evidently it's not by democrats.

And people marvel and scratch their head why people do not trust the election system.

Maybe if anyone who is a legitimate voter is affected by it they can actually go and fill out the proper paperwork and make sure that they indicate that they're actually eligible to vote.

I know that's asking a lot of the average low information voter who can't properly fill out a form.

The whole reason the law exists (no purge within 90 days of elections) is to avoid legit voters from being purged, and no have time to correct it. Virginia violated this law, and is being challenged for the violation. And how would legit voters even know the Governor purged them off the rolls?

First democrats don’t want voter ID and now they are suing to stop the known ones from being stripped of voting. It’s amazing

They didn’t purge legit voters. That’s what they claim anyway. These were illegal voters. Wait a minute… it takes 90 days to know if more than illegals were pulled from voters lists, and yet they certify the election results quicker than that? That’s a bit strange.

How would you know they didn't purge legit voters? Of course many of them were legit. They don't check for eligibility before the purge, they say they purge anyone with "inaccurate or outdated" information at the DMV, and the reason the law mandates this cannot be done within 90 period before election is to give legit voters time to re-register after being purged unnecessarily.

Also, the lawsuit is coming from U.S. District Court in Alexandria, not from DC

what's a worse sin-preventing someone who may have been eligible from voting or allowing someone who is not eligible to vote?

Depriving citizens of their right to vote is worse, especially when non-citizens voting is practically non-existent to begin with. The "risk vs reward" factor & common sense mandates it would not make any sense for them to try to vote.

It applies only to people conducting the purges. It's clear: it's against the law to conduct purges within 90 days of elections.

Every non-citizen voting takes away a citizen’s vote away.

Trump’s illegal Elector Scheme was far worse than “non citizens” voting

After the 2016 election, the Brennan Center for Justice, which advocates for voting rights, surveyed local election officials in 42 jurisdictions with high immigrant populations and found just 30 cases of suspected noncitizens voting out of 23.5 million votes cast, or 0.0001%.

The Brennan Center survey did not include North Carolina, where a state audit after the 2016 election found 41 cases of green card holders who voted out of nearly 4.8 million votes in the state. The same report said many of the noncitizen voters had been misinformed that they could vote.

Meanwhile every case of a citizen voting twice, or submitting a ballot for someone else also takes away the legal vote someone else

The vast majority of voters in those cases are Republicans
