Explain to me why I should not let this color my experience and form my stereotypes?

You're the one that referred to skin color.

I think there is some trade-off between fairness towards other people and fairness to me.
The question is, when do I owe someone else the benefit of the doubt? In what situations is it reasonable to be generous enough to give someone else the benefit of the doubt, even though there is a very real possibility of me getting burned.

Let's also remember that drinking alcohol (you were at a bar) can magnify issues already inherent in that person and bring out the worst in people.
If you're going to be prejudiced, it might be more fair to imagine "This is how black men are when they drink alcohol, at a bar", rather than "This is how black men are"

I think there may indeed have been a racial element here. I've noticed black people can act kind of selfish, in some rather trivial situations, compared to white people.
It's probably either cultural or a genetic psychological trait. The alcohol probably only helped bring out that trait, I would imagine.
Humans have primitive animal-like instincts, usually covered up by their mental faculties, but alcohol will reveal them.

Almost got into a fight with another man at a bar... Amazing. You would be the first in human history...

Funny how fights can start over trivial things when people are drinking alcohol in a bar...

And when you get burned by people enough it's only logical to start to be a little bit skeptical of them. That's just called common sense.

And your other posts are correct I'm sure alcohol did not help the situation any. I just started going back to a bar one night a week after having not gone in any for 13 years and I think I'll just go back to not going in any because there's nothing good to be found in any of them.

I'm pointing out that that sort of behavior tends to be more prevalent in One race. I realize that does not apply to every single individual. Those two facts do not cancel each other out.

Of course you can get that sort of behavior out of any race but it doesn't make me a racist to point out that it tends to be more prevalent in one over the other. All I'm doing is telling the truth that many people would not be willing to point out but they know it's true.

Telling the truth is not always a popular thing

So you live in a universe where buying someone to drink only means you're sexually interested?

I'm sorry but I guess my mind just doesn't think in a homosexual manner. But he could have been gay as a $3 bill. But if he was he was not flamboyant type

And your little imaginary scenario he would be the lucky one for not saying such a thing.

I am somewhat familiar with your Posting history and have even disagreed with you on some issues but I do not believe that you are at all a racist.

I'm sorry that you had that negative experience and,
generally speaking, I believe that when a forum member recalls an event, I trust it to be accurate .

In other words, I believe you but I don't think that the antagonistic individual is worth the vexation he has caused you.

Please don't give him the power to make you think negative things about all Black guys.

    Thanks,

Well it has historically been a very historical old Western bar it's not so much specifically a Western bar anymore it has a western theme but you have patrons from all walks of life.

I appreciate the vote of confidence because I have no reason to be dishonest about the situation. And I'm not saying it makes me think the same thing about all black people I'm just saying that it makes me skeptical. I'm naturally skeptical about anyone anywhere that I don't know but I tend to be more skeptical due to experiences in the past

I'm sorry to disappoint you guys but I am

not remotely homosexual and I don't patronize homosexual locations.

Now for all I know he may have been a homosexual but if he was a homosexual he was not flamboyant about it and he did not remotely let on that he was.

So far I've been called a liar and a racist and now people are attempting to homo shame me. Progressives are so fake.

You can engage in bigotry whenever it fits your purposes. And stereotyping and racism but you have a problem when others do the same thing

My most progressive feature is that my nuts progressively sink closer to the dirt with every passing year.

Dude, apologies about your attempt at being so cereal about this subject in this sub-forum, but nope, it only blew up on you!

Seriously I will add that this OP could just as easily gone down with an interaction with someone with less dark skin.
