Covid-19 causes pneumonia, so yea, it would make a great deal of sense to just go ahead and count those people as a covid death if you can't get your hands on a test for them.

Sure it does, because no one died from pneumonia before covid, so now it's all covid.

And you see nothing wrong with this? How convenient.

The highlighted part seems to be false. I just posted a link in post #8 that argues otherwise.

I never said or implied that all of it is or should be covid related. But if a medical professional has a good faith and justifiable reason for believing that someone died of covid-19, what's the problem with declaring that they died from covid-19?

Argues otherwise? No. Post #8 just confirms precisely what I said - the inclusion of the probable cases are done even if there is no lab confirmation.

If the lab returns a negative result for a test conducted, then they are not counted or at least they should not be counted in the absence of some extremely compelling evidence that the lab result was a false negative.

Clearly you didn't read the whole article:

"Earlier this month, the council revised its COVID-19 definition to include illnesses that don’t have positive test results but in which the evidence points to the disease. "

"No lab confirmation" also means even if the test is negative.

If you have to say "clearly," then your argument is probably not very clear.

But like I said, if you have some extremely compelling evidence that the test is a false negative, i.e. the deceased had a roommate who also died from covid-19, then you should feel justified in designating that person as covid positive.

Well let me be clear, the article was clear. You were just not getting it.

Prediction: none of this will seem clear to you.

Because all medical professionals are minions of the nefarious DEEP STATE, who are seeking to make ALL deaths attributable to Covid 19 which was actually completely cured by the Holy TRUMP's secret administration of Lysol Ventilators to all 25 REAL sufferers months ago. Now take off those masks and get back to work, but everybody shake hands first.

Let me ask you this: Is it possible for a test to return a false negative?

If you think that is possible (and you should), then would you agree that a medical professional should be permitted to designate a person as covid-death if they reasonably believe that Covid was a causal factor in that person's death AND they have compelling evidence that the person had covid-19?

If you disagree with a professional reaching that determination under the scenario laid out above, why?

So a friend of a friend of a friend said something might have happened but there is no real proof just what might have could have maybe happened somewhere sometime somehow?

So far there have been over 90,000 deaths - that is over and above the number of deaths that happened this time last year

So which is more likely - this is a furphy or every doctor in the country is being mind controlled to write “COVID 19” on death certificates?

Everyone would like an accurate count but unless every corpse has a post Mortensen test how are you going to tell?

Dr. Birx said that other countries will have a patient show up with respiratory symptoms and die of a heart attack or kidney failure, and that country will count the death as a heart attack or kidney failure. She further explained that the U.S. has a "very liberal" guideline for mortality. If that heart attack or kidney failure patient tests positive for Covid, we count a Covid death.

I thought, Okay. If everyone understands that our numbers are overstated and can't be compared to other countries, then fine.

Then, a week or two later...

Birx announced that they had advised doctors and medical examiners to use their best judgment on deaths, absent any testing and/or even if the deceased tested negative.

That's when this appears to have turned more political rather than scientific.

There is a need, for both parties, to save face. If Covid deaths are approximately in the same range as flu deaths and we shut the country down and destroyed a great economy because of it, then what happens to faith in the government (which hit all time lows 10-20 years ago and hasn't rebounded)?

At this point the "stay closed longer" versus "reopen as quickly as possible" is definitely political. We have empty hospital beds across the country and people are dying at home with heart attacks and other causes due to having been mandated to reschedule appointments and being scared out of their wits to show up at a hospital. Those get assigned a "probable" cause of death post-mortem.

What would be "compelling evidence" that a person had covid? The symptoms can vary wildly from severe flu symptoms all the way to a few body aches only. I remember reading one woman in Washington said all she had was a headache for a few days. So your compelling evidence argument seems too easy, pretty much any ill symptoms could be covid.

No, as much as you don't want to admit this happened, it did. It's not a rumor. You're taking my post and twisting it to meet the criteria you want it to. Doesn't change what is actually happening.

    I don’t have to prove a thing

It is up to you to prove that 90,000 deaths are a figment

I used an example twice on this thread already: The deceased had a roommate that tested also died while testing positive with covid-19.

People die every day of things like influenza and pneumonia, especially the elderly........ or at least they did until February 2020, those were now all covid deaths, tested or not.

First off, do you think that my example would be a compelling reason to label someone a covid death even if the presence of a negative test?

Second, your allegation that all flue and pneumonia deaths have been labeled as covid since February is absolutely false and you have been shown the CDC data multiple times.

If they tested negative, then no, they should not have been labeled covid death.

No, the CDC data only showed an estimate of how many flu deaths happen yearly. It was not an actual count of flu or pneumonia deaths.

CDC has a database of U.S. causes of death. They are several weeks behind updating the data.

They are showing a decrease in deaths by cancer, heart disease, nephritis, and "other" respiratory illnesses. (They are showing an increase in influenza deaths.)

January 1st through April 25th, CDC data shows and increase of 36,812 deaths from all causes compared to last year.

On April 25th, the Johns Hopkins dashboards, showed 54,144 cumulative Covid deaths.
