That's not the way the real work works. Unfortunately males perpetrate the vast majority of sexual violence against fenales and having a shared space only increases the risk to my daughter. And frankly people are going to care more about the safety of their daughters than some ideal world of quality in bathrooms.
Transgender people are not suffering from a disconnection with reality. Being transgender is about one's gender identity, which is a deeply personal and intrinsic sense of being male, female, or something else. This identity may not align with the sex assigned at birth, but it is a valid and real experience. Transgender individuals often face significant challenges, including discrimination, stigma, and mental health issues, but these challenges are not indicative of a disconnection from reality. Instead, they reflect the societal pressures and barriers that transgender people encounter.
~ I agree . However, many will be disappointed that tampons will not be available in boy's public school washrooms ... ''
Gender identity theory is a false ideology. It's a story told to explain things. It's an incorrect way to explain the disorder. What's actually occuring is a mental health disorder wherin the person has discomfort with their sex. Any societal stigma or verbal attacks just like everyone else (and perhaps more overall), yes. No one said that is an indication of a disconnect with reality. The mental health issues are likely connected to an overall syndrome, wherein those who have discomfort with their sex also have other mental health symptoms that are connected to the brain problem they are experiencing. The disconnect from reality is that they dislike their bodies enough to feel they have the wrong body. Then, those who take it a further step and want to be seen as the opposite sex are even further disconnected from reality, because they are their own sex, not the opposite sex.
Every other advanced nation is moving toward the future. Sadly, we are looking to the past as our roadmap. No, I am not spouting Harris rhetoric - its easy enough for all to see if they are looking. And caring about their fellow citizens.
verbalise You said that transgender people have a disconnect with reality. And you continue to say it below. This is just your own personal opinion and really who are you to speak for transgender individuals? Many transgender people feel they are the wrong sex, even though not able to verbalize it, as young children. I have a niece who is transgender and I can tell you that your observations are incorrect and you obviously have never spoken to a transgender person. You are posting your opinions which is fine but stop trying to pass them off as fact.
~ I see the great USA leading the way in moving forward towards future Western society — " the society of the absurd " . " I can't decide what gender I am ! "
I actually have spoken to several people with gender dysphoria as well as people with schizophrenia and other mental health disorders. They all believe their beliefs to be reality, even when they aren't.
Any change that you can come up with links to said ads, or at least something to try to find them, like who put them up?
Which isn't what is happening. What we try to do is prevent the straight indoctrination, and just tell kids that what they feel is right for them is correct. We're not out there telling them they are wrong if they feel transgender or gay or whatever. It is the LBGT opponents that are telling them they are wrong and pushing an indoctrination, instead of just letting the children be.
Cis people, especially cis women, are getting accosted outside of restrooms, as well as in them. In their efforts to "protect natural women" they are attacking the very group they are trying to defend.
Be that as it may, there is no increased threat of sexual assault to women in restrooms. We're still looking at the fact that over 65% of sexual assaults occur within the home, either the victim's or that of a close relative or friend. Less than 10% occur in enclosed public spaces, which do include restrooms, but are not limited to them, so the number is in the low single digits.
The problem is that opponents are trying to claim that transgender people are not who they are. Now we can have an argument as to whether a given label, such as man or woman, applies to such a person, but we are then moving into "rose by any other name" territory. And given that words are repurposed and redefined all the time. The term gender is like that. It wasn't commonly used to reference biological sex, save in a euphemistic manner on an infrequent basis, until about the early to mid 20th century. Gay used to hold the common meaning of festive or joyus, even as recently as the 60's where it was included in the Flintstones' theme song as such, and has only recently moved into common use as homosexual. That is a misrepresentation of the claim. With the exception of a few extremists (of which EVERY group has some), There is no claim that one is of the opposite biological sex. The claim is that their mind is opposite of that which typically develops for a given sex, or at least what is assumed to be the sex by external genitals. The disconnect from reality is that everyone will develop the same way, much as the disconnect that all people are supposed to be right handed. Exactly what they are trying to do, but people like you are the ones who won't let them. You'd rather they accept themselves for who you want them to be. All problems are treated with what best deals with the symptoms, to either remove or reduce them. At this time, there has been no successful treatment for adjusting the mind to the body. All attempts have not only met with failure, but most have caused more damage. Will there be in the future? Hopefully, and I would say eventually, although probably not in our lifetime. And people so affected should have the choice as to which they adjust to the other. But until such methods can be developed, we go with what works. Unless it is your claim that they should just suffer so they met your expectations. That's just putting words into people's mouths, that has no basis in fact or evidence. I might as well say that people, even all Republicans and rightists, think that it's weird and unnatural to follow the word of Jesus, and the ones claiming to do so are living a lie, because of all who are doing harm and hate, while claiming to follow him. It has the same amount of verifiability as your claim. Conflation fallacy. You fail to take into account having to work out of a long term habit or use. Such accidents are not indications that a person doesn't accept the person as they are. Given the communities that I am part of, there are plenty of my transgender friends with whom I never slip up, and many with whom I do. A lot depends on how long I knew them as their biological sex, and how far in transition they are.
Misinformation. No it did not start with Money. Research was being done on this long before Money. In fact, there was a German researcher who was making great strides in this field until the Nazi's too over the country and destroyed the work. Further, Money's experiment on Reimer not only was abusive and unethical, it also supported the assertion that one cannot force the change in gender. And that works both ways. One can't make a cis gender person into a transgender person, and neither can a trans gender person be made into a cis gender person. Money's efforts and goals were the polar opposite of what the LBGT+ community wants; the forcing of people to be other than what they are.
If you are thinking that the wearing of wigs, hose, corsets, high heels and make up by men is a sign of gender conflict and confusions, I have some very bad news for you about the founding fathers.
My question exactly, because we don't. GD cannot be cured, it can only be managed and alleviated. If the person ever has to go back to presenting as their sex insead of their gender, all of the symptoms will come back again. The condition that creates the mismatch between sex and gender does not go away when one transitions, even with the full SRS or GAS or whatever the current label is.
That is a fair point, and for brevity’s sake, I was calling it a “cure.” We have a treatment that gives the person with the dysphoria a permanent-ish sort of relief and a strong sense of internal calm. (That’s my words as to how it’s been described to me by friends who are trans.) I have several trans friends, and I trust that I am not misrepresenting them in any meaningful way.
I think you are misrepresenting, but it is probably more based on what they don't know or realize. I have to grant to many trans people see transitioning as a "cure" and don't think about it, or even realize, that it boils down to management of symptoms. The only true cure would be if we could put their mind into a body that matches, or actually convert the mind to match the body. And in all honesty, referring to it as a cure in general daily activity isn't really a problem. However, in situations such as this, the accuracy of what the treatment is, is more important.
Again, cure was MY word, and simply for brevity’s sake. I am aware it’s not a cure. I am absolutely not misrepresenting how much better they feel after transitioning, and who are you to tell them they don’t feel an internal peace?
Sorry, that was a misreading on my part on what you were potentially misrepresenting. I did not mean to say that you were misrepresenting how they feel. I thought you were talking about misrepresenting whether they thought it was an actual cure. Of course they are feeling better after transitioning, because most if not all of the symptoms have been address. I apologize for the misunderstanding.
Dave, I think most conservatives, as certainly me (though I'm by no means an ideologically pure conservative, as I'm pro-choice, anti-religion, and my idea of a fun weekend is a non-stop party/orgy starting Friday evening and lasting until Sunday. But, in many other way, for example, my outlook when it comes to federal tax policies, is pure conservative. I bring that up only to point out that as a mostly-semi-quasi-conservative, assuming you are an adult which seems a safe assumption, I couldn't care less that you are trans, I don't care if you dress like a woman, a man, something else, or even a furry! I do not care what kind of modifications you do to your body, be it a peircing, a tatoo, or lopping off parts. It's your body, and as long as you're spending your money, it's your right. Where I have issues is twofold... First, and foremost, when it comes to children, who in no world should be exposed to adult sexual topics or entertainment (like the now infamous drag queen story hour), and I will not be bullied about the language I choose to use or not use. If you look like and act like a dude, I'm gonna use masculine pronouns, and vice versa if you look like a woman. If I can't tell, I'll try to avoid either, but if I guess wrong, oh well. But this absolute obsession with exposing children (as young as pre-K!!) to this alternative lifestyle is completely unacceptable, as is allowing them to mutilate their bodies at an age they're not even allowed to get a tattoo. I won't abide that, but leave the kids alone, leave my wallet alone, and you won't ever hear a peep out of me. I want to be clear, I myself live what could be called an "alternative lifestyle", so my problem is not adults doing adult things. But I go out of my way to NOT expose kids to it, whereas the trans mafia does the opposite. Keep them in check, and there won't be an issue.
