Occasionally some get caught and now will get some slap on the wrist.

Apparently, this is the largest in DOJ history.

I just saw a story calling for an investigation into Hogg’s admission into Harvard after not being good enough to get into less prestigious schools.

    THE IVY LEAGUE—BREAK IT UP!
The college admissions scandal that broke last week is another delightful reminder of the hypocrisy of academic liberalism. It's long past time to apply antitrust laws to what has obviously become a market-protecting cartel.

Y'know Zorro, with the stories you find I gotta wonder what your search history looks like. It's probably scary enough to frighten Freddy Krueger!

It's a good point that the IVY league is market-protecting cartel, and this cheating scandal is a good time to give this the consideration it deserves. We live and operate in a free market, free enterprise system, complete with anti-trust and anti-cartel regulatory powers to protect our freedom and liberty.

A business in such an environment, where our product was in huge demand, and we had their enormous pricing power, expansion is the logical response, yet none of our elite private colleges and universities are expanding its student body. Harvard, Yale, Princeton, USC have massive endowment resources to acquire land, erect buildings, and hire new faculty, all without compromising their admissions standards at all. The Ivy League schools each year turn away boatloads of applicants with stratospheric test scores and high grade point averages.

I know college admissions offices from the inside — schools basically sign off on scandal.
Let them set an SAT/GPA lower bound, then admit by random lottery from among applicants above that.

No one is going to force you to go to college, but the Ivy league as currently set up is a market controlling cartel and their product is crap. Both Obama and Bush were products of Ivy league and they were probably the two dumbest back to back Presidents we have ever suffered under.

Time to break them up! And enough of them controlling the minute details of student body composition.

The DOJ said, very boldly, very clearly, this case is atypical and the largest Collega admission bribery case in US history. These are people giving donations to schools....they are bribes

This case is not by people using the system. This case is based on fraud getting your kids in. Yes, it's not "fair" that the rich can buy a building and get their kids into college. But it's above board and legal. The Huffman/Loughlin/etc. case is about people defrauding the system by lying and cheating, which is not legal. This is much more than privilege, it's fraud.

Yes, bribing by buying a building is legal. So the institution can accepts bribes and be legal.
    But people can't accept bribes.
Other than 1 group is people and the other is an institution, what is the difference? Besides the legality part.

Its both being rich buying special privileges. One a legal method, one an illegal method. But both having the same out come.

I think I read somewhere that 31 of the 32 are all rich Democrats that have been cheating the system. If true, they are certainly hypocrites.

    Color me, not surprised.
