I get good color in the yolks from corn and good flavor in the eggs....I couldn't edit my post.

My chickens are free range...That also adds flavor to the meat.

So in other words... You feed your pigs and chickens better than the US Corporations feed the US people.

The US Corporations (which proliferate this food) are incognisant as they don't live near the animals. If they see on paper a low-cost high-yield corn byproduct is available, they will mandate its consumption regardless of the on-the-ground condition of the animals, and some high-school retard will be in charge of feeding them.

As long as the chickens don't die, regardless of how bloated, disgusting and deformed they are, they will be chopped up and fed to the American consumer.

YES. Your animals are fed better than the American people.

I know what you're talking about... About the taste of the egg, the milk... And even the meat, by feeding the animal well and ensuring it isn't traumatized or has untasty emotional chemicals from a miserable life.

The US corporations don't care about these things. Flavours can be added after the next corporation buys the stock.

If the US Government was toppled on this factor alone... I'm not saying it should, but if it was, its food policies would in and of themselves would be worthy of entry in history as some of the most significant crimes of tyranny perpetrated on a populace anywhere, anytime in history.

My kids say our animals eat better than they do....of course they are mistaken.

If you ever raise animals for your own consumption you will never like store bought food.

We quit eating out because the food does not taste good and it way too expensive.

We ate at Olive Garden the other day and it not only cost $89.00 but all I could think was how much feed I could buy for that.

Over 500lbs of feed! or enough hay to feed a cow for over two months.

Usually...the old and sickly chickens from commercial farms get sold as soup chickens.

Its a shame we all can't grow our own food and live in Utopia, the Liberal dream.

Here in Brazil I have had some nasty experiences with Chicken. I hate buying chicken that has broken legs, just makes me squeamish. I know only buy chicken the day I will prepare it, if not it goes bad. As soon as its home my wife washes it with vinegar to kill bacteria, not sure if it works but that is what she does. We have a place that kills their own chicken. I bought a chicken there once, bought it in the evening, by morning it was green, pretty gross.

Everybody has all these great ideas except they are too expensive, they would never feed a nation, unless that nation was perhaps a Marxist nation, in which case the cost would destroy the Nation. As has been proven in history.

I am not concerned about GM foods, for right now its not that the food is anything different, just a little protection from nature, which I see as a good thing. The sugar molecule or protein and vitamins are all the same.

Its just crazy political activism gone bad.

Hell some of the Liberals fight against these advances simply because they are against people, they do not want to see millions fed, they believe the world is better off with more people dead than living.

Are you €£¥#%^* serious? You must be lying or joking.

Chicken does not go bad as quickly as you claim. You smoke it, preserve it, or put it on ice. OF COURSE raw chicken will spoil in heat if not cared for quickly. GMO chicken will not solve that.

You should be more concerned with what chemicals you are eating and whether the chicken was raised on bad feed. If the chicken is not nutritious, it won't do any help eating it.

There needs to be standards of production. If you allow corporations to feed you anything, they WILL feed you anything! They HAVE fed you anything, and they are killing people!!

Yes, if everyone knew all about food, chose it wisely, and handled and stored it properly, there would be no problem.

And while the USA does have more BAD food choices than anywhere else, the USA also has more GOOD food choices than anywhere else.

As always, in words that liberals hate, the INDIVIDUAL is responsible for his/her own actions. If the individual is so incredibly stupid as to think that McD's serves good food, the INDIVIDUAL is still responsible for being stupid.

So ... Please... Let me correct this 1 misconception of yours.

Ok...... Eastern Europe now has about... Between 1/3 and 1/4 of the US purchasing power. Fair enough?

Yet even with this less power, and with lots of "mouthes to feed" the cost and availability of wholesome natural food at cost quality FAR EXCEEDS the USA person's purchasing ability.

    Let me say that again.

The cost and availability of wholesome natural food in Eastern Europe EXCEEDS the American's purchasing ability in his native land, AMERICA... The American has 3x the purchasing power and can buy 3 breads instead of 1? WRONG!! That bread would be UNAVAILABLE in America to that consumer, because the common bread in America is stripped of as many byproducts as possible for sale to other industries before the highly refined and modified wheat powder becomes that person's bread.

The common person's bread in the USA is NOT the same quality as the common person's bread in Eastern Europe. So the American can buy 3 breads instead of None. You have NEVER tasted real bread, which is moist and dense like cake, but it's BREAD and it lasts forever without moulding. In fact it dries out to form croutons for salad and soups.

Where YOU have quick marts that sell junk food, and super marts that sell MOSTLY junk food, the restaurants that MOSTLY SELL JUNK FOOD... WE HAVE... quick marts that sell natural wholesome cream milk packets you freeze to last forever. Natural smoked meats, cheese, crackers... You name it!! At a quick mart!! An ENTIRE NATURAL FOOD DISTRIBUTION NETWORK.

You are BEHIND US in this regard!!! And your evil despicable government is pushing an evil despicable model of food depravity ONTO THE REST OF THE WORLD.

They have done it to Australia! FAT DISEASED AND DISGUSTING. They have done it to more places. DO NOT LET THE USA DO TO THE REST OF THE WORLD WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO THEMSELVES.

Neither does it mean starve to afford 1 bread slice instead of 3... It means there is more nutrition in that 1 bread slice than 10, 20 bread slices of horrific, deplorable, sickening US food... AND YOU AGREE. Wonder Bread kills little animals to whom it's fed to. THERE WAS A PROFESSIONAL STUDY. It's no wonder the rich people liquidated that company and took the money out for themselves. THEY PROBABLY DEVELOPED A CONSCIENCE.

See the reality that I am telling you!

I see your CLAIM, I do not see an actual official authenticating SOURCE.

And I made no disparaging remarks about Europe's food. I have and do spend much time in Europe and very much enjoy that the food is excellent,,,,,,,,,,AND Local. Europe has no 3000 mile delivery issues. Food is locally grown and locally consumed. And 100km to 200km is local and a large percentage travels a much much shorter distance. All of Europe has less than half the area of the USA.
Your best example is beer, which is a food. The local brewery supplies the local beer. Basically only the big cities have the well known "national brands." Food is about the same.

Once, having breakfast in Germany, I was enjoying the end cut [heel] of a warm loaf of bread. I said to the wife, "We need to invent a bread that is all ends." "They're called rolls Dear.":eyepopping: she answered.

Here I have to go to the produce market, and the bakery, and the butcher, which is routine in Europe. Dumb ass Americans go to the supermarket where everything is preserved and turnover is the watchword of the market management. But we have thousands of produce markets, bakeries and butchers, it only takes a bit of intelligence to use them instead. And they do quite well in business.

your obviously an idiot, I live here, that is what happened, I shared it, meat sucks here period, extremely expensive, not well cared for, I have specific markets I will shop from, yea, its more than obvious that the place I got chicken at was a bacteria factory, the chicken went bad, it is the third world here.

Yes, well... I remembered: Yes, that's right it's hot there, and probably the meat will go bad, especially from an open market. Why they don't smoke it? I don't know. Evn a little mocking of the meat... A little... Will preserve it a few days. The smoke helps prevents spoilage.

Did you know, also... If you put a clay pot into a larger pot, with sand, and wet the sand... Cover with a wet towel, the evaporation will draw away heat causing the inside pot to be cold. You can just water the sand indefinitely.

You sound miserable. You mustn't have been there very long, or you recently moved... Because you will decide on your routine... where and when you will go for each item you need.

you are from the west, no? It's maybe even your real picture. You work for the media arts and news service? You're a camera-man? Tell us. It's fascinating.

I eat great in spain, nice bread, but their supermarkets have not near the choice as ours.

As far as great bread goes, I prefer my spam on wonderbread with frenchs mustard. Of course we got our san fransisco sourdough, as good as any bread anywhere in the world, better if you like sourdough because no bread is like san fransisco sourdough.

Ever get to Michigan make sure you get the local baked Italian loaf with sesame seeds, some fresh local butter, nothing better.

Los Angeles, and most likely the entire country can now enjoy La Brea bakeries bread, its in costco, baked fresh daily.

There is no part of the world any better than the good ole USA, hell if it was not for us you couldn't even begin to feed yourselves.

It was not that long ago you Europeans had to mix sawdust in your bread, just to feed the family.

Hell, thats all Europeans would eat, because it was their God given right according to the Bible, hence the potato was considered not even suitable for hogs.

Nothing they ate in the Bible grew under ground so Europeans thumbed there nose at potatoes for 200 years, how many famines and deaths resulted, millions?

Enjoy your bread, we gave you the freedom to enjoy it, now thank us!
    Los

Wow. I must say, I have a lot of respect just for your mannerisms. It's not often to meet a real man, honestly.

Yes.. I know what it's like traveling back in time, traveling, and the sensation of camping yet living can grow tiresome. Unfortunately, there are some changes which took place in the United States recently. Corporate domination has increased 200%. Small business and entrepreneurialism has dried up. Tube adverts and trade magazine adverts have all but disappeared, save for a monolithic mega corporation or two. Only a small number of mega corporations own everything, such as the news media, newspapers, and even restaurants, businesses, and landholdings are owned mostly by conglomerates. The government has decided money is best residing in the rich person's hands.

The food that you knew... San Francisco..... Well, the fast food has gotten even worse. Artificial bread, cheese, mechanically separated meat, chemicals. The people are not healthy. In fact, the entire region of South Cali is overrun by Mexicans.

Europe has also changed. France has declared multiculturalism is dead and hopefully will build a France for Frenchmen. Most other countries should do the same... Everybody deserves a homeland. The Algerians will always have Algiers. Why not boot them out of France? Surely as a right winger you can appreciate this sentiment. It's not racist to preserve all races, including the ones t threat, namely ours.

Well, I think it's great there are 1 or 2 foreigners. You will give a wonderful gift of genome to Brazil! It would only be a problem if thousands and thousands of counter-culture migrated in such as in the US, UK, France, and ny other place. Imagine the future without Ire-Engl-Wel-Scottish, French, or American Europeans.

The food of the United States has grown much worse. The corn is sickly yellow. The soybean tastes like chalk, and the potatoe is almost exclusively russet.

Why don't they smoke it, because they are selling chicken to eat for dinner. Brazilians in Rio do not have a tradition of smoking meats. Most likely not a decent wood in Rio, should be, but I am not aware of it. They use Eucalyptus for BBQ, and at that most Brazilians do not know that Eucalyptus is extremely oily. The let smoke and smolder, sooting up the meat, if the coals flare up, they douse it with water adding even more of the oily smoke to the meat.

Me I built my own smoker, but I have no wood for it. I have asked everybody and nobody can find me anywood, nothing, not even Orange wood. I am hoping the new WalMart carries Kingsford, that would be a dream. I have brought charcoal here with me, as I bring Spam and Velvetta cheese, Hienz Ketchup and French's mustard, not to mention Wishbone Italian dressing (dry mix).

I sometimes bring much more, as much as I can afford.

Oddly, the most expensive cut of meat is the Sirloin, tri-tip Sirloin, it can be double the price of Filet Mignon. Most the meat is on the tough side, I don't think they age the meat long enough. I prefer my beef 20 days aged like all the supermarkets in the USA sell.

I am here because my wife and kids are here, I met my wife inspecting Angra unit 1. She had to go through the Visa process twice because the government workers with life long jobs in the USA screwed up our paperwork, they made start over, two times through the process. Last year I filed the same document four times, as in the excact document with no changes, each time they sent it back. finally it was okay, with no changes.

Brazil has a nice history to it, Rockefeller tried to take over the supermarket business here, failed, the government protected the local rich guys, which really sucked. Nothing is better than variety, they have a great variety of fruit, but after that there is very few corporations, used to be just the government but that has changed, now things are private, but still not enough competition.

People should be proud of there local food, but at the same time do not doubt that if your living in a major US city, you can get just about anything you want for a very fair price.

Artichokes from Watsonville, cant beat that anywhere in the world. Farmers market in Monterey Ca.. Very nice.

I inspect Nuclear Power Plants, so where they are, we go.

Life expectancy in the third world where they get a surfeit of your stupid natural food regimen is shorter than anywhere in the West where we use gasp preservatives. 300 million people in this country in any given year less than 1/1000 contract a food borne illness and the number of deaths is well less tha that. We largely have a lower life expectancy than Europeans and the Japanese because we have a far larger influx of third worlders than the Japanese and the Europeans do.

Wrong! Natural food is not the culprit in your argument, but lack of sanitation, etc. moreover GMO does not seek to solve those problems, but to develop money for itself through high-yield low quality trickery. Hence by your argument GMO would pose no better.

Living a long time as a bloated whale carcass must be hell. I don't call it living, but more like existing.

Face it! The US peoples' purpose in life is to subsidize the aristocracy of the US with a comfortable lifestyle!

No dude the real culprit is that so called natural foods cannot be grown in large enough quantities to feed everyone and are subject to far more diseases that make them either unfit for human consumption or mean that they never get to market. Famine is common place in thrid world countrys because they mostly have so-called natural foods to work with.

To the extent thatsuch is even remotely true you can blame the american left who have large shaped the current situation though endlessly and needlessly complex rules and regulations through which large businesses are endlessly micromanaged by government functionaries who makesure business become to big to fail and then, when they become to big to work as well they subsidize them.

Most places selling eggs do no refriderater them here in Brazil, I have had 3 rotton eggs. Not real bad considering the years here. Still it sucks to get broken eggs. Further the eggs are only medium size, no large eggs. No cold milk either, just warm milk in the box. Not as good tasting.

Two things you can do...place eggs in a bowl of water.....good eggs sink and older eggs will float.

Or you can "candle" the eggs. Take along a flashlight strong enough to see through the egg...the larger the air pocket in the egg the older it is.

That is a complete myth. Other places have no problem creating bulk natural food. Only in the USA do they want to strip the food of all its components and sell each separately. It has NOTHING to do with feeding people, and everything to with greed.

Freedom to feed people whatever YOU want does not equate to freedom to eat what you want. You CANNOT FIND quality food at cost capacity in numerous places of the US, you simply do not have a natural food distribution network. It is a horrific nd is gusting place, and worst is what it does to the people.

You get what you pay for in most instances. You want good cheese made with real milk, you can get it, or you can pay less and get it made with oil.

You can buy corn fed beef, or beef fed with grass. You can buy lean or fatty beef.

Many companies have stop using high fructose corn syrup and switched back to sugar.

Want good organic veggies, you can buy it, but it cost more.

You can buy the cheap air filled bread for a little over a dollar, or buy good wheat or rye for about three dollars.

Most of the time it depends on what your willing to pay for.

Nice rant, I just spoke of the Bay Area, when I am not in Brazil I spend my time between Southern California to Benicia, the second capital of California.

Yes you paint a terrible picture, the cost of entering a business is extreme to the penalty we must pay to the government, with higher taxes less people can run a business, on top of all this Lawyers are running the small guys out of business enforcing government rules and regulations.

I know how hard the government makes life, as far as one or two corporations controlling the whole food supply of the USA, right, get a clue.

You have a lot of respect, hogwash, you have zero respect, your condescending at best.

I like the Mexicans, at least they come here looking for work, too bad they are surprised to learnt that the USA's government has killed all opportunity for them. Mexicans bring great food as well, I shop their small markets all the time, by freshly made chorizo, tortillas, corn and flour. Great food, much better than lets say 10 years ago. I imagine it will improve as soon as we get Liberals out of the Mexicans way.

WRONG! The market stabilizes on quality X, price Q. An exploitative corporation undercuts the market with quality X/2 mislabeled "real" cheese and price 4Q/5. Now, all of the businesses must compete, so they also start producing quality X/2, and as their supply/demand decreases on quality X, they scale back production and costs go up to 1.2Q. The market then stabilizes on quality X/2 price Q after inflation and market saturation.

The SAME thing will happen with mutant unlabeled salmon. It will be initially cheaper. It will disrupt the market. The corporation will draw market share from common farmers. The farmers will license the mutant salmon to compete. The decrease in supply/demand of the more expensive salmon will drive its prices up. The market will stabilize on mutant salmon, and people will think of natural salmon in the same way they think of natural maple syrup: WHY THE (*)(*)(*)(*) DOESN'T OUR GOVERNMENT ALLOW US TO HAVE THIS.

Well, speaking of brainiacs, there might not be the profit as such but, they'll surely be more brain damaged youths further burying America's future if that were to happen. Drugs for everybody! Yeah! I can't possibly see how that wouldn't work out well for everyone. Riiiiiight..

Your claim doesn't fit with reality. There are always options. Consider cars. You can buy cheap, you can buy quality, you can by efficiency, you can buy speed or you can buy luxury. You have hundreds of options based on what you want. The market hasn't drove car manufacturers to all make cheaper cars. You still have options.

The same is true of food. You can buy wild-caught or farm-raised versions of any fish that can be farmed. You can buy chickens and eggs that were free-range or cage-raised, with or without hormones and antibiotics. You have every option, why should the government start limiting those options?

CAN YOU buy natural things versus farm raised? Say shrimp, for instance? I was in a local store recently and asked for wild caught shrimp versus farm raised. The guy looked at me like well....you figure it out. Needless to say, they didn't have "normal" shrimp....only the high profit, farm raised, chemically created type.
