I am not denying anything. What is so wrong with acknowledging the reason guns were invented? I have repeatedly said I use mine for target shooting, but that doesn’t change the indisputable fact that guns were invented for the purpose of killing. Anyone with a thinking brain knows this. Why does that fact bother you so much? It’s rather odd that you’re so hung up on this.
well we all agree that when guns were invented, it was as weapons. that no longer has any relevance today
So todays guns aren’t weapons? You must be referring to those guns designed to not kill. Remind me which guns those are? I’m pretty sure the guns I have, which are not from the 1400s, could be used to kill. I only use them to shoot paper targets but still, they could be used to kill.
are baseball bats, javelins or machetes weapons? they sure can be but that is not their primary purpose. Olympic Free Rifles, skeet shotguns and IPSC race guns are all capable of being used as effective weapons but their primary purpose is as target firearms
I don't agree. Guns are predominantly weapons. Practicing marksmanship with them doesn't take that away. People sometimes use cars to display creativity or to compete for speed and power that doesn't mean their primary purpose is to do those things even if some are specifically built for that. The reason most people shoot skeet is to get better at killing game such as ducks and pheasants. That doesn't mean you can't shoot skeet for fun it just means that was the purpose of it. Honing the skill is important.
They can be used that way but most things can. A fork, a sock with a brick in it. But a sock is used to insulate your foot. I'm not too sure what the difference is between a skeet gun and a duck hunting gun.
not much at all except skeet guns have open chokes (My K-80 that I finished 6th at a world shoot has Tula Chokes which is a spreader tube essentially) while duck hunting guns tend to have IM or Full chokes. I'd say my ISU trap gun and a duck gun are functionally the same thing just as the Winchester 70 rifle with a Unertl scope was both the rifle SSGT Carlos Hathcock used to win the national 1000 yard championship and take out dozens of VC and NVA enemy in Nam
what people usually refuse to admit is either 1) that all guns are intended to kill or designed to kill or 2) that what guns were intended to do 700 years ago has any current relevance I will be the first to state that anyone who claims that guns were not invented as weapons is wrong
Those things weren’t invented for the purpose of killing. I have already stated three times that I use my guns for target shooting so I’m well aware guns can be used NOT to kill. But that doesn’t change the fact that guns were invented to kill and for many people the primary use is to kill, such as game animals and nuisance animals on farms and that’s perfectly fine.
Every shotgun I have you can change the chokes. So if I change the choke does the gun fundamentally change? So they are modified weapons like race cars are modified transporters. And a nail bat is modified supporting goods.
You should probably look up noun and verb. well it depends. most ATA trap guns are designed to shoot "high" if you aim at a dot at 35 yards more than half the shot will pattern above the dot. Skeet and clays guns tend to shoot right on. why-because ATA targets are almost always rising when you shoot at them. Skeet and Clays not so much. But yeah, it's hard to shoot good trap score-especially if you have a high handicap (25-26-27 yards) with an open choke gun and its hard to shoot skeet-especially on station 8 with a tight choke
FMJ bullets are not intended to kill but to inflict casualties. are you claiming that 24 G ISU Skeet loads or Ely Biathalon 22 rounds are designed to kill? sure if you shoot someone at 25 feet with an ISU Skeet load you will kill them. If you run into them with a Station wagon you will too
gun banners want low wattage voters to think firearms that look like military ASSAULT useful rifles are intended for CRIMINAL assault
