I'm not sure if I totally and 100% agree with this, but it is science and we all know how that can't be questioned, especially when it comes from a Harvard professor. Feel free to add your thoughts.

Casual observation certainly leads a person to believe that Brooks is correct. TDS meltdown videos on the internet certainly support the findings.

If you take even a brief look you will see it's the left who are the most miserable and unhappy, even mad and angry. It's the left who will riot at the drop of a hat, block street corners, rip down posters of Jewish hostages, have sit ins and protests, etc. Does antifa and blm seem happy to you? To me they don't.

There are a few studies, but my own experience living in liberal-land, Los Angeles supports this. Also, working with customers in all states, people are nicer and appear to be happier in red parts. I have many farmers as clients and they appear to be much happier even though they work harder than most.

 

That was about as predictable as the reaction I would get if I misgendered a liberal, but then again that's all you got.
When it comes to be unhappy and miserable, have no noticed that Biden always seems angry when he speaks while spreading fear? Have you noticed how environmentalists are always angry? Have you ever watched a union president speak - particularly Randi Whinegarten? Which people were behind the riots in LA, Chicago, Baltimore, New York, Ferguson, etc? When queers were coming for our children, did they seem happy? How about the people protesting to keep the illegals from being deported? They're quite angry. Oh, wait, how often did the Squad speak about something and not sound angry and miserable? The list goes on and on, and all you have is the one thing libs will use whenever their anger and misery is exposed.

 

Professors? Plural? I only see one.

You realise a lot of MAGA are ex- Democrats right? Do you think it was happiness & life satisfaction that propelled them over to the other side?

 

If I can be permitted a few 'generalisms', I'll try to offer some brief ideas:

1. Liberals tend to be the "have-nots" in our society. Consequently, they align themselves with political factions that support governments simply giving away everything that people need in life, and without the requirement to do any work to earn any of it.

2. Even though the "Welfare State" has made enormous inroads into American society, government, and our economy during the past 90 years, we remain, predominately, a capitalistic country which provides greatly desired amounts of money only for those who achieve financial success, usually through hard, skillful work!

This obviously describes a situation that is highly disappointing, stressful, and miserable for liberals who make up the majority of the lower, and lowest, economic strata in the U. S.

The effect is predictably worse for liberal women, who grow up believing that the men in society are supposed to earn most (if not all) of the money that a married couple needs and wants to live a good life. You know... the old "protector and provider" paradigm!

But if the males these women circulate among are little more than self-absorbed 'adult children' who have no education, no skills, no experience -- but DO have lots of "issues", deficiencies, debts, addictions with drugs and drunkenness, and other characteristics that are destined to doom any healthy man-wife relationship, the women are unlikely to be happy about any of it!

And, yes, all of these things can (CAN) apply to Conservatives, too -- but because more of them tend to be workers and achievers, with common sense, goals, and focused determination, they are less likely to be disappointed failures in life.

 

PS @Steve N You know BLM and Antifa totally out of fashion now. Can't remember when Antifa made the news last.
