Biden received more than 81 million votes, the most votes ever cast for a presidential candidate in U.S. history.

    Cheeto had 77,303,573 votes (49.9%)

    lol, Sure

What is the effect of a lower tax lower rate for capital gains?

It does not appear to spur economic growth significantly. But lower rates certainly do foster tax avoidance strategies and complexity. Capital gains may arise from risky investments, and a lower capital gains tax rate presumably encourages such risk taking.

Beneficiaries of a Lower Tax Rate

Critics are correct that low tax rates on capital gains and dividends accrue disproportionately to the wealthy. The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center estimates that in 2022, more than 70 percent of the tax benefit of the lower rates went to taxpayers with income over $1 million

Low tax rates on capital gains contribute to many tax shelters that undermine economic efficiency and growth. These shelters employ sophisticated financial techniques to convert ordinary income (such as wages and salaries) to capital gains

YOU THINK THE US IS HURTING FOR CAPITAL INVESTMENTS???

What a joke .. who cares what the blue cancel crew is screaming .. and since when is the world silent over the slaughter of Christians ... and what does any of this have to do with holocaust denial.

Did you think putting electric rod up the ass of detainees is civilized behavior in general or is it only OK if done to an Arab Animal -- rape .. sodomy ..torture and violence -- all good in the hood .. Targeting Journalists .. also killing their families .. Blowing up a building then killing the medics as they arrive .. just like that collateral murder video Assange released.. The most vial behavior .. worse than the Islamic State in Syria which existed from 2013 - 2017 . Obama's JV-Team .. where Genocide Joe earned his nick

you really do not understand what you speak ... or is the old electric rod up the wazoo a practice you favor .. should we implement that in our prisons .. as a deterrent to criminals .. a whole lot of Israeli's support your idea .. .. the poll was just less than 50% ..

Trump is not complicit in Genocide ... what a joke .. Genocide Joe has a long history of aiding and abetting genocide and mass atrocity .. terrorism and crimes against humanity .. and it is not my personal characterization. Are you unaware of the ICC ruling complicity in crimes against humanity ? .. or is it that you do not know the meaning of the word Genocide .. and the difference between giving a terrorist a gun .. and voicing approval after the fact ? or is this the pretending again.

Well aware of Trump's love for his biggest doners Natty .. but this is not about Trump . but your devotion to Genocide Joe .. and even if this was about Trump .. I am not a Trump devotee .. and my arguments against Trump are way better than yours.

How is it you are completely unaware of Biden's undying love and support for the Islamic State in Syria that existed from 2013 to 2017 ? You were here throughout the war .. .. never heard of Tulsi Gabbards "Stop arming Terrorist Act" cosponsored by 13 bipartisan in congress.

and now the Gaza Holocaust ... trying to blame Genocide Joe's direct involvement on Trump .. as if Trump is President . What a ridiculous deflection .. akin to holocaust denial .. as if Hitler preferring some political figure over those aiding and abetting the Holocaust .. makes Biden not guilty. What a fallacious pile .. if I do say so myself.

Your dissatisfaction with President Biden's tolerating Natanyau's genocidal policies has been acknowledged. I share your frustration in that regard.

What is your opinion concerning President-elect Trump (Trump Praised Netanyahu, Netanyahu wanted a Trump victory, and got it.) expressing his unbridled support for Netnyahu's genocidal policies in Gaza and the occupied territories?

Yes, and why I focus taxation on what people consume, not what they invest.
Salaries are too low in British Columbia, something like 80% of the USA in Washington state for GPs.

Canada under Trudeau and British Columbia under the New Democratic Party are screwing up the economy. Trudeau id "Dead Man Walking" and I think we're seeing the beginning of the end for the NDP in British Columbia.

BC is sitting on a treasure of raw materials and hamstrung by leftwing ideology.
    Yep.

Isn't it fun as to how Canada kept pace with the United States up until a certain individual got into office and ****ed everything up?
    upload_2025-1-1_16-52-24.png

    https://www.cdhowe.org/publication/...nvestment-hurts-canadian-prosperity-and-what/

"The US tax reforms of 2017 likely lowered investment in Canada and certainly did so relative to the United States. Prior to 2017, Canada had improved its tax treatment of investment relative to the United States, with reforms from the late 1980s to the early 2010s reducing the federal general corporate income tax rate from nearly 38 percent to 15 percent and reducing the aggregate marginal effective tax rate on investment in Canada (Chen and Mintz 2014, Bazel and Mintz 2021) – all positive for Canada’s investment and capital stock (Wen and Yilmaz 2020). As noted already, Canada’s investment performance relative to the US and other OECD countries did improve from the early 1990s until 2014, when the slump documented in this report began.
Those 2017 US reforms, notably the reduction of the federal corporate income tax rate from 35 to 21 percent and faster write-offs for M&E, undid Canada’s business tax advantage (Bazel and Mintz 2021, McKenzie and Smart 2019). As intended, the US reforms lowered the marginal effective tax rate on business investment. Bazel and Mintz (2021) calculate the average US federal and state effective marginal rate at less than 26 percent in 2019, down from nearly 40 percent in 2000, while the average Canadian federal and provincial/territorial rate was above 26 percent, down much less from nearly 30 percent in 2000."

When Trump got in in 2016, he lowered corporate tax rates while Canada elected Truedope who INCREASED corp tax rates (because tax the rich)...this lowered investment and production and the economy of Canada.

A corporation would more likely send it's money/business to the lower corporate tax rates then it would in Canada. And Truedope has had to incentivise investment with HEAVY subsidies.

Taxing the rich? Not a good idea in a global environment.

Orange man doesn't get credit for this and he should. He basically stepped on Trudeau's economic throat in 2017. And while Truddy was declaring the moral high ground of "taxing the wealthy", Canada's economy has suffered as a result.

And now it will get much worse for poor Canada, as they have increased their capital gains tax (something that will absolutely impact businesses and further decrease investment) Biden was talking about increasing ours but he's gone and now Trump is back in office making damn sure that America is a much more attractive country for investment.

Just another example as to why it is you can't run a country on virtue and bullshit. Things Trump doesn't do.

It is not just about toleration.. but aiding and abetting .. it is one thing to have mens rea .. quite another to have actus rea .. Biden did the dirty deed took actions to aid and support the Gaza Holocaust .. such that he should be standing side Bibi at the Hague were it a just court .. .. not at the same level as Hitler .. but certainly among the underlings. and at the very least .. violation of US Law .. .. throwing out the international rule book .. None of which Trump did .. nor had the capability of doing should he have wanted to....

While I refrain from using the word "Genocide" .. simply because folks generally have no clue what the word means such that the label has value in context .. and the characterization "unbridled support" hyperbole .. I condemn any support for the freaken Holocaust .. Henry Ford included. and Frankly .. have you absolutely no idea that Red/Blue is a "Uniparty" on certain issues .. those of concern to the Donor Class .. The idea that Trump is not just as beholden as Biden a naivety of highest order .. Right ! .. and so I must ask who exactly did you think runs Washington .. pulls the strings .. of congress . .. the Pentagon .. CIA ..and Gov't in general ? ..

Never mind .. Trump is a reality TV star who can deliver a line .. any support by anyone of our being the dog being wagged by the tail .. is to be condemned .. but the one cannot be compared in any substantive way to the other in meaningful context .. a big Phat Fallacy in Logic the conflation of the two .. which is an all too common habit of the Blue cancel crew these days ... Used to be the party of common sense .. anti war .. pro civil liberties .. anti Fascism and Oligopolies .. pro environment .. and anti Totalitarian Brown Shirt Tactics .. to increase Gov't power .. removing the safeguards protecting essential liberty .. and yes my young apprentice .. the other side is hammering many of the same beats .. just not quite as quickly at the moment .. and reversing course on others .. a shocking thing to say .. something I thought I would never say about Blue .. being an ardent anti Red on this board for more than a decade . my partisan friend.

I'm a grandparent and I wouldn't want to tell you about how we behaved. I think public shaming went out the window in thr mid-1960s.
You've got something there. I asked ChatGPT...

"The percentage of births to unmarried women in the United States has increased significantly over the past 50 years. Here's an overview of this trend:
    • 1970: Approximately 10.7% of all births were to unmarried women.
    • 1980: This percentage rose to 18.4%.
    • 1990: The figure increased further to 28%.
    • 2000: About 33.2% of births were to unmarried women.
    • 2010: The percentage reached 40.8%.
    • 2020: Approximately 40.5% of births were to unmarried women.
    • 2022: The percentage slightly decreased to 39.8%."
How women and how many men are raising children alone? What is the nature of the relationship between the people raising the children? Father? Father with lady friends? Her children, too, perhaps? Mother with men friends? His kids, too? Forever parents who care?
Some of them want a family and know how to make one. I'm not recommending it, but many don't have a relationship with a male friend they find acceptable.
Stay at home mom may be aspirational, but not s realistic option for most couples.
What is being promoted? Women realize they're on their own. Divorce shouldn't mean instant poverty. Alimony? Forget it.

There are too many guys looking for a woman who works full time, then comes home to take care of the kids and do housework. These men aren't offering stay-at-home.
Many aren't prepared to do all the work around the house and work full time. What is the guy going to do when it gets down to it?

That's not all they did, unfortunately. They elevated concerns near and dear to environmentalists, sometimes stopping economic activity altogether, as happened with BC LNG and the Alberta Oil Sands output. They also turned UNDRIP into law.
    Canada's wounds are self-inflicted.
Trudeau will no longer be PM and much will change when Poilievre's Conservatives form government. Canada will reopen for business.

    You didn't read the analysis.

If Canada INCREASES it's corporate tax rates and capital gains tax while the United States LOWERS ours...what you have is all investment moving from Canada to the United States. While I agree, Trudeau being the woke progressive dipshit that he is, stood on his pedestal of virtue and declared to tax the wealthy. Trump, being the smart business man that he is, recognized this foolishness and lowered our corporate tax rate which threw gasoline on the fire.

Because progressives on these boards do not understand, investment is a global competition. Why the **** would anyone invest in Canada when they could just invest a few miles south and skip all the tax and regulation bullshit?

Trump was smart. Sorry, but you are going to have to recognize that fact.

And yes, Trudeau is getting slammed at the polls because after 9 years of passing all the woke and progressive policies the progressives on these boards parrot...Canada has found out the hard way that they don't work and lead to a disaster economically and socially.

Progressives need to "progress" their ideals.

MORE right wing BULL SH^T, yeah it was Cheeto gutting taxes on Corps that did that? LMAOROG

Canada is getting poorer when compared to its wealthy peers, data shows

Tepid economic growth, combined with a population boom, has hit Canada’s standing among rich countries
Canada is among the richest countries in the world — but when compared to peer countries like Australia (30% CORP TAX RATE) , New Zealand (28%) and the United Kingdom (25%) , it isn't as rich as it onc was.

And the wealth gap between Canada and the U.S. has only grown wider, according to figures published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Canada's relatively weak economic growth, combined with a population boom, has hit its standing among wealthy countries.

....The country added nearly 1.3 million people last year — a 3.2 per cent increase — while the economy grew by just 1.1 per cent in the same time period. That means more people taking slices out of an economic pie that hasn't grown much bigger.

WEIRD I THOUGHT IT DIDN'T MATTER, ACCORDING TO RIGHT WINGERS ON THIS FORUM, IF SOME TOOK MORE OFTHE PIE?

The news isn't all bad. Data shows real weekly earnings — a person's take home pay — has actually increased in Canada, even when accounting for inflation. The household savings rate is also up.

And there may be some improvement on the horizon; Canada's economic growth is expected to hit 1.3 per cent in 2024 and 2.4 per cent the year after, according to International Monetary Fund (IMF) data.

...The U.S. has been wealthier than Canada for a long time.

In 2002, Canada's GDP per capita was about 80 per cent of what the U.S. generated — although much of that country's wealth is concentrated in the hands of a relatively small number of people.

But by 2022, Canada's GDP per capita was just 72 per cent of that of its neighbour to the south, a decline that means the U.S. has an even bigger leg up over Canada when it comes to living standards.

....Meredith told CBC News the slumping GDP per capita figures are "kind of misleading" because they have been so skewed by outsized population growth in recent years.

He said the Liberal government he used to work for has "allowed too many temporary foreign workers to come in."
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-gdp-per-capita-rich-1.7318989

THAT WAS BECAUSE CHEETO GUTTED TAXES ON THE RICHEST?

BUT PLEASE LET THE CORPS OFFSHORE IF THEY WANT TO, F%KK THEM, THINK THE US IS LACKING CAPITAL INVESTMENT OR CORP JOBS IN THE US? lol

Like the rights BS "trickle down", keeping Corporate taxes low (where about 80% of profits go to 1% of US), is more "voodoo economics".

The Trump tax law slashed taxes for America's largest, consistently profitable corporations

America’s largest, consistently profitable corporations saw their effective tax rates fall from an average of 22.0 percent to an average of 12.8 percent after the Trump tax law went into effect in 2018.

The 296 largest and consistently profitable U.S. corporations in this study paid $240 billion less in taxes from 2018 to 2021 than if they had continued to pay the effective rates they’d paid before the Trump tax law.

While profits for the largest, continuously profitable U.S. corporations rose by 44 percent after passage of the Trump tax law, their federal tax bills dropped by 16 percent.
The number of these corporations paying tax rates of less than 10 percent increased from 56 to 95 after the Trump tax law went into effect.

Many of the largest and most well-known corporations in the country — including Walmart, Verizon, Disney, and Meta — had the largest tax reductions after the Trump tax law went into effect.

THEY GOING TO FLEE AMERICA? REALLY? lol

While these corporations’ profits grew by 44 percent, their federal tax bills dropped by 16 percent.

...Rather than reducing tax avoidance as any successful tax reform would be expected to do, the 2017 law increased it. The same calculation for the 2018-2021 period demonstrates that these companies sheltered 39 percent of their income from the corporate income tax.

They did, but it's even worse than that.
Trump was forever talking about lowering the U.S, corporate rate, so Trudeau should have been ready to deal with lower U.S. rates.
I prefer "not stupid." Economists had been saying corporate rates were too high. Democrats were also wanting to cut rates but not cut them enough. Democrats were stupid.
If you study UNDRIP, you'll see quickly enough the damage done is worse than the high taxes.

    https://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/declaration/about-apropos.html

    https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/governments/indigenous-people/new-relationship/united-nations-declaration-on-the-rights-of-indigenous-peoples

The government of British Columbia recently gave 200 First Nations (Canadian aboriginals) land twice the size of Metro Vancouver and $200m in settling land claims. Let that sink in.
Other "Progressives" are opposed to Canada selling oil and natural gas because they think the world should stop using fossil fuels. They opposed the Keystone pipeline and did everything they could to stop expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline.

Lol silly progressive. You just detailed why mass immigration is a bad idea. As it suppresses wages and growth. There are many progressive policies at play that have ****ed the Canadian economy. Mass immigration is but one of those factors.

As I've already linked, capital gains tax and a higher corporate tax rate then its American neighbor have absolutely hurt it's ability to attract investment which has also hampered production.

With what jobs are created, mass immigration has placed downward pressure on wages while increasing unemployment and placing more pressure on Canada's social services which are tax funded.

Canada has raised its gdp...but it's gdp per capital is at 2014 levels which coupled with the crazy inflation caused by mass immigration, (specifically housing costs) and well...your progressive policies have all be a lump of **** once they play themselves out!

    Weeee!

Oh and never link me anything from CBC as it's government subsidized I'm told and heavily bias in favor of the liberal government. So anything linked is likely to come with a heavily biased opinion piece

Got it, claim bias of a news source, say you provided BS that proves your premise, and argue from that point

"Claiming correlation as causation" means assuming that because two things are statistically correlated (happen together), one must be causing the other, even though this is not necessarily true; it's a logical fallacy where a connection between two variables is mistaken for a cause-and-effect relationship without sufficient evidence.

You'll note, I provided my link, the correlation AND causation, sorry you don't like it
