Perhaps so, but in all honesty what I was responding to appeared smug. The science says the N95 mask is meant to protect others from the carrier. It was a selling point of the mask mandates. Your mask is only meant to protect you.
But isn't that ignoring the fact that you can get covid from someone who is asymptomatic that visits your home? Or do you wear a mask even then?
If the P100 respirator is only designed to protect the wearer, how did you protect others from you, if you were infected?

Of course, I read your post. Are you in the habit of not reading the entirety of what others write? I have protected others by not getting covid and the P100 respirator definitely protected me when I wasn't able to socially distance. It seems your looking for a mea culpa. Sorry, I'm not a handwringer, anti-vaxxer or Fauci follower. P100 respirators are effective protection if worn properly. Perfect protection? No, of course not. You might recall I repeatedly said my respirator provides no protection for others if the wearer is infected. Why do you keep asking me the same question? You know about asking the same question over and over again hoping for a different answer...
If you actually understood my question you would have noticed it was framed under the assumption that you WERE infected. But, I withdraw my question. I see no point in wasting any more time on this discussion with you.
Maybe you should have said you'll stop asking me the same question over and over again when I already answered it by pointing out it provides no direct protection for others because it has a one-way valve.
Let me help you with that one as well. He said “potentially infected” because the mask he wears is extremely effective at protecting him from getting infected. Because he is wearing this mask, he is stopping himself from getting infected and therefore passing on infection to others. It’s that simple.
I doubt any person would wear a mask 100 percent of the time. I believe the ‘what I don’t get I can’t pass on’ was referring to being out in a public setting wearing a mask not in ones on home. There are always scenarios where one can get infected despite wearing a mask in public. The point is wearing a good N95 mask out in public is very protective, it lessens the chances of getting infected and then later passing the infection on to others. If somebody enters your home with asymptomatic infection perhaps that person got infected in a public place by some person who wasn’t wearing a mask and because they weren’t wearing a mask themselves, who knows. The bottom line is your scenario has absolutely nothing do with the efficacy or usefulness of masks. If more people wore N95 masks, there would be less infections with covid.
That was the point of my question. A person can be an unsuspecting carrier of the virus able to transmit it to you if you're not wearing PPE at all times. An impractical lifestyle. In such a scenario, you then are able to spread the virus if you're wearing an improper face mask, which a P100 is. You'll never see a surgeon wearing one. Why? However, there are far too many people that don't follow the proper use of them. Facial hair is a no-one for one thing because it prevents a proper fit. Then I see many people twisting the straps which creates gaps in the mask. That's a no-no. Bottom line -- despite the mask mandates the spread of the virus continued. Most people just aren't aware of the risks that are possible even when wearing a mask and get sloppy.
Masking is ineffective for anything but droplets. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze you are just as effectively protecting those around you as if masking full time.
I still see people coughing and/or sneezing into their hands. And many people improperly wearing masks. And people wondered why covid was a pandemic. Maybe healthcare should be a required curriculum in grade school.
It is. Children and adults by nature are dirty. There is no way you should expect people do the right thing when it comes to health. Its just not realistic. Solution you do the right thing, and lead by example. Don't turn crazy and go all Howard Hughes germaphobe. Just relax about disgusting homo sapiens and do your best. I choose to take public transport and I see what you say of course.
