There was a heated disagreement in the Situation Room this weekend over the efficacy of the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine -- but multiple sources say it was mostly one-sided, as President Donald Trump's top trade adviser Peter Navarro feuded with other officials over the drug's unproven effectiveness to treat coronavirus. The debate is not a new one inside the coronavirus task force -- and medical experts have repeatedly explained to the President that there is a risk in enthusiastically touting hydroxychloroquine in case the drug doesn't ultimately work to combat the virus. Navarro had brought a stack of paperwork with him into the Situation Room on the drug, arguing it was proof that it could work to treat coronavirus, which Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, disagreed with because it was not data. "What are you talking about?" Fauci asked -- a question that set Navarro off. He became indignant, and at one point, accused Fauci of opposing Trump's travel restrictions on China, which confused many in the room, given Fauci was one of the initial few to agree with Trump on the move, the source said. https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/05/poli...ug-hydroxychloroquine-disagreement/index.html Trump's people don't have this under control. And, now this quack (Navarro) is going all around touting this unproven treatment. It is horrible that at this time of crisis, Trump's people aren't on the same page. Why does Trump keep promoting this quackery? Thoughts?
I think this a unique situation and these kind of behind the doors tell all articles are a damaging to the country.
I disagree. The Trump Administration is jeopardizing the health of Americans (by promoting this anecdotal and unproven quackery).
Why. Seems to be used on those headed for certain death. Promise you if I get it and I am at the end of my O2 capacity. You can give me gasoline if it would help me!
It seems to me that Trump is trying to save your life and you are cheering him to fail. There is a name for that but it escapes me at the moment. Carry on.
Trumpeting an UNPROVEN Treatment (that ISN'T SAFE for everyone) is trying to "save" people? Somebody on my street mixed lighter fluid with Coca-cola and claims that it cured coronavirus. ^Strictly anecdotal, of course. But, it worked for them. So, it has to work for everyone. Right? Just like hydroxychloroquine (anecdotal). Cool. Should I call Trump about this (Cure for Cancer Worthy) "Magic Bullet"? Maybe I can get through in time for Trump to mention this "gamechanger" at today's briefing? Sounds like a plan.
Huh? Lolwut? Like THESE "Studies"? https://www.sciencealert.com/small-...ial-is-not-effective-for-treating-coronavirus
Care to read.. However, a study just published in a French medical journal provides new evidence that hydroxychloroquine does not appear to help the immune system clear the coronavirus from the body. The study comes on the heels of two others - one in France and one in China - that reported some benefits in the combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin for COVID-19 patients who didn't have severe symptoms of the virus. Even your "debunking" shows it helps treat symptoms. Here is a hint.. Dont just google search for headlines..
We have a women in my area that has the coronavirus and she is on this treatment and is responding very positively to it.
I am sincerely hoping that it will be the magic bullet. For it to be the thing that saves lives and brings everything back to 'normal' would be wonderful. But I am concerned that a POTUS would be encouraging its use when it hasn't been approved to treat covid by the FDA. When a reporter asked Fauci about using the drug, Trump told him not to answer because he had already answered it 15 times. "The FDA feels good about it. As you know, they've approved it. It's not going to hurt people. It can help them, but it's not going to hurt them. That's the beauty of it. You see, it can help them, but it's not going to hurt them. What do you have to lose?" "What do you have to lose? In some cases, they're in bad shape. What do you have to lose? It's been out there for a long time, and I hope they use it.... I think people should -- if it were me -- in fact, I might do it anyway. I may take it. Okay? I may take it. And I'll have to ask my doctors about that, but I may take it." "You know, maybe it's true, maybe it's not" I agree, it won't hurt anyone. But a false sense of positivity is not a good thing at the moment. It could have people dropping diligence and social distancing far too early. It could have businesses re open before it is safe to do so. Additionally, I am concerned about the stockpiling of this drug. At present, those who have been taking it to treat severe Lupus flare ups are unable to get it.
Still trying to figure out if you really want a cure or just want to continue railing over this non-topic and further embarrassing yourself by quoting CNN. If this potential aid to victims bothers you, my question is, if you were infected and became in desperate need of aid, would you want to take the drug as a potential life saving measure or just continue on your keyboard squabbling over whether it is good or bad? Why do I get the idea lefties do not want to think about anything positive?
The experts around the world agree...it's a highly effective treatment.....don't buy the fake news from the left that want to promote fearmongering and death. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/apr/2/hydroxychloroquine-rated-most-effective-therapy-do/
It doesn't make any difference what doctors say. Just ask the usual suspects here that create one Trump hating OP after another. This has all gone beyond comical and just reading the titles of this crap, I can tell you who wrote it and what source they used to create their fantasy.
That is an easy question to answer. It is totally 100% due to their tragic landslide election loss in 2016. Their hatred has gone on since day one and will continue until Jan. 2025. If there were a cure to be found 100% effective, available everywhere, and at no cost, you would still see complaining form the usual suspects that it was too late and that was Trump's fault. Thank God the left does not understand they are helping the Trump re-election campaign.
How can there be disagreements in what liberals keep telling us is a 'yes man' administration? Something doesn't jive...
Lotsa FAKE NEWZ out there today. Along with this debunked b.s. is the "crying nurse" Twitter video* advanced by see b.s. also now debunked. This makes me think a turning point is near & the have commanded their fake news media minions to advance crap stories to take the focus away from good news. * https://twitter.com/CBSNews/status/...uit-because-was-asked-to-work-without-a-mask/
Fire Dr. Worm Tongue. Fire The croak voiced Blazey Ford clone with all her doom and gloom exaggerated projections These left kooks are as far off reality as the same type leftist “experts” predicting the 95% 2016 win for Hillary In virtually every situation there are pro and con so called experts. I supported Trump because of his OPTIMISM in the midst of millions of nay saying leftists chanting “No USA at all” and “You didn’t build that” and “you can’t do that” and “America is not great and never was great” Go with the pro experts. Use FEMA to distribute the pills and the masks to those who want them and let those who want and or need to return to work, do so
