I had to laugh at that because I was just thinking that I'd posted about three times that the wording of the OP was not true and the actual events have little to do with Holocaust denial. And yet the same kind of posts keep popping up. Thank you for your very proper and concise wording of the issue.

They could but quite often teachers go where they're needed most. Public school teachers often just give up on students.

What problems do you find with the 'one size fits all' approach?

Where did you find any "hatred"?

Actually, teachers will go to where they are most appreciated. Most of us would favor job security over other factors.

The problem with one-size-fits-all is that it fits none well. First of all, not all students learn the same way, nor are they all capable of learning at the same rate. I had students who performed at all levels of the test, and many of the low performing students had to have individual learning plans and were graded differently than the others. That means that instead of one lesson plan for the whole class, I had to have one for each student who was labeled as low performing. That slows down the overall process of learning because I had to spend more time with low performers when I could have been much farther along if students were organized according to their performance levels.

There is also a significant difference between student performance that is a reflection of family income. Students in low income environments are not exposed to and don't see the value of education as a factor in status and income. Having taught at both extremes, I can tell you that the difference is breathtaking. Teaching to the high performing students would be way over the head of low performers.

Finally, if the curriculum is limited by that one-size-fits-all approach, it limits how far a student can go in a given field. For example, I remember students designing and building their own hover-crafts for a science class. The school put a stop to that because it felt students needed to be in the classroom practicing for the test. Many of the activities I used to do with my students got the same treatment. Students eventually lose interest. Education has to go beyond the limits imposed by the one-size-fits-all, test oriented system.

I suppose that every religion, culture & geographic region feels that it is, as you say, the font of all knowledge and history.

Concerning the ADL poll I cited, it makes sense that the many people around the world who have suffered far greater tragedies than the holocaust would neither know or care about it.

It would do far more to expand our students' horizons to teach about a broader range of human tragedies rather than focus on just the one so obsessively promulgated by what Norman Finkelstein calls "The Holocaust Industry" & its fanatically vocal minions.

Another finding of the same global ADL poll was:
EXCERPT "Thirty percent of respondents said it's probably true that "Jews still talk too much about what happened to them in the Holocaust."CONTINUED (1)

It is important to remember that no single race, religion, nationality or ethnic group holds a monopoly on the capacity for either good or evil.

Thanks for your very thoughtful suggestion but I, too, am pretty much retired due to misc. health issues & other demands.

I still occasionally make smaller things like wrought iron African animals, fireplace tools and candle holders but have made many gates, table bases, large wine wracks with grape vines, Art Deco coat racks, harpoon heads, reproduction Elizabethan artifacts, Civil War cannon parts, sculpture, a full scale wrought iron jazz band etc etc.

I'd love to post some photos on a different thread but lost my old hard drive on which they were stored. My wife may have some photos stored on her computer so I'll check with her. Sadly, I lack the computer skills & equipment to photo & post what I have around the house but, again, I'll see if I can get my wife to help me.
    Thanks again for your interest.

When American troops first came upon a Nazi concentration camp with emaciated men, women, and children they were understandably shocked and horrified. Word traveled quickly to Supreme Allied Headquarters and to the desk of five star General of the Army Europe, Dwight David Eisenhower. Eisenhower visited one of those camps and was physically sickened by what he saw. Eisenhower vowed that this would not disappear into history nor become a target for deniers so he invited the press to come in and take a look -- bring their camera crews. As more camps were discovered, the press swarmed in.

The photographs created a firestorm back home when they hit the pages of Look, Time, Newsweek, and Life. As Eisenhower intended, the photos and stories never left the front page of the World's memory.

I do hope you can post those photos. I have an interest in blacksmithing because my great-grandfather was a blacksmith. I can still remember an old building behind his house that was full of scraps and small things he made. It's a fascinating trade.

I guess, Ike didn't want to know that those corpses were people who died of Typhus like flies towards the end of the war when life-supporting conditions had collapsed, mainly through the relentless bombing of German infrastructure, supply lines and factories by the Americans and British. The German people suffered as much and more because of the constant bombing of their cities. Many were buried inthe rubble and in their bunkers, more burned in the infernos of their cities. Shouldn't that be in the headlines, too?

It was not intentional that many camp inmates died. What was intentional by Ike was the immediate starvation of at least 1.7 million German POW AFTER the war had ended! Why does the press not put that enormous crime on their front pages??

Many holocaust photos have been deliberately forged, altered or are outright frauds used to dupe gullible.
I can support my assertions, why can't you compose anything but snarky & evasive insults?

Where do you want to stop? Have teachers say our Constitutional Convention never actually happened? What do you think happens when there are no certainties we can agree on? Moral relativity and situational ethics, are they the answers to avoid what some see as conflict? Yes, there is good and evil. They don't share the same room no matter how bad you want it!

My understanding is that former Principal Latson never said that the holocaust didn't happen. He simply stated a simple fact that not everyone believes that the holocaust happened(1).
He was talking about what other people believe and did not express his own opinion.
Again, it is a simple fact that the vast majority of people in the world do not believe what has become the standard holocaust narrative.
Why should he have been fired for stating the truth?

The links you are posting do not put you in a position to call others gullible. If you really feel as strongly as you do about people being duped by photos, you must then admit that it is possible that you are the one being duped. You weren't there.

The world is full of flat earthers, hollow earthers, holocaust deniers, and foil hat people.
