Trump is easy prey to an operation like this, thought. He's been doing business with Russian gangsters for some time. That's who you're reduced to when your reputation on the street is where his is. Nobody in the banking community trusts Trump at all. And with good reason.

Trump has all the worldliness and sophistication of Archie Bunker. He's easily suceptible to flattery, and he craves celebrity, the cheaper the better.

A guy as shallow and vein as Trump is an easy mark.

 

While I am not sure about Buzzfeed as I do not see it as an actual news source, CNN certainly noted that the report was questionable when it was presented, as did every news outlet that I read.

 

The American political class is too insulated and inbred too realize how over exposed they are.

There is no evidence of this either. The most recent Quinnipiac poll indicates that Trump's approval rating is fully ten percentage points behind the outgoing President ,and a scant 37% of voters have any confidence that he will do a good job.

Outside the US, Trump is already an international pariah.

That being said, it is news. Since when do journalists do the old Woodward and Bernstein style two verified sources? This is the age we live in. It was noted that the reports are unconfirmed. I am not sure how much more spoonfed it can be than that.

Honestly, there should be some punishments that the government gives media who acts extremely dishonest, such as CNN. Freedom of speech and press does not extend beyond freedom from legal prosecution. Removing them from the white houses press pool would be legal, and very well deserved.

Mabye that, as well as some loss in views from the public (if we could ever rally behind boycotting this type of dishonesty) would make them clean up their act.

Fat chance though.
