I heard an interesting interview with the head of the ACLU yesterday.

So the only way tens of millions of illegals don’t fit the idea of predatory incursion/invasion is if we define such along lines of “precedence” requiring the illegals to be a uniformed army.

    Sounds like bad legal argumentation.

I suspect this will go the same way as RvW.

As I've said, Employers want reliable labor. Hiring foreign IF LEGAL is fine with employers.

You apparently have never had to meet a payroll or staff positions.
Hiring ILLEGAL is rarely a positive move. Besides the legal issues and the ongoing threat of being found out, there's the problem of dealing with little things like on the job injuries, complaints to government agencies by disgruntled employees, and having your work force apprehended and deported.

I worked with all sizes of employers in all industries, including agriculture. With the exception of agriculture, the very idea of hiring ILLEGAL was likely to get people fired. And agriculture learned a long time ago to insulate themselves from the issue by hiring "harvesting companies". These are the companies that come in with a workforce to harvest, or even to do everything from land preparation to harvest, who are the employers, not the farmer/rancher. One of the biggest is West Coast Harvesting and Packing.

What does my needing to hire people (I have,) have to do with hiring illegals? I required proof of permission to work, before hiring for the factory. we never had a single illegal immigrant in our employ.

The agriculture industry is where illegal aliens come to hide. This is the industry that needs heavy fines. We need to start paying people real wages to plant, cultivate and harvest our food. The cost of food will rise, and this is not a popular outcome.

So, let’s spend billions using other, less effective, methods. :eye roll:

And still you aren't paying attention.
Do you use E-Verifile in hiring?
If everyone used E-Verifile it would go a long ways towards stopping ILLEGAL MIGRANT work.
Yes, the penalties ought to be much bigger than they are (currently, the fine is up to $3,000 per violation and 6 months jail) and the ILLEGAL MIGRANT should be deported immediately.

The simple solution is to recognize that not everyone wants to immigrate to America, but they do want the work. And we're glad to have them do it, even if they are sending most of the earnings out of the country. If we bonded work VISAS (actually bonded all visas) the farm contractors could easily be held accountable for their labor force, bringing them in, housing and managing them, and transporting them out of the country when the season ends. This process would not increase the cost of food all that much, especially if the only added cost was bonding visas and the vast majority of migrant labor obeyed the conditions of their VISA.

We have work VISAS now, but the process needs refining and it needs those bonds on VISAS.

President-elect Donald J. Trump intends to declare a national emergency over immigration and use the military as part of his plans for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, according to a post he made Monday on social media.

Mr. Trump confirmed his plans to use the broad emergency powers afforded to the president as he moved to stock his cabinet with loyal allies, some of whom have drawn deep scrutiny over their qualifications and personal conduct.

The ACLU was planning on challenging the law trump was going to use to facilitate mass deportations. This is his work around.

ACLU files lawsuit seeking details on Trump’s plan for mass deportation

Civil-liberties lawyers alarmed by President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to launch mass deportations of undocumented immigrants sued the federal government Monday for information about how authorities might quickly remove people from the United States.

The federal lawsuit alleges that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has failed to respond to requests for basic information about its existing contracts with private airline companies that make up “ICE Air,” as well as ground transportation services, airfields and policies governing deportation flights, including those carrying children.

Lawyers said the information is urgent because of Trump’s election victory this month and his upcoming inauguration on Jan. 20. Advocates for immigrants have accused ICE and its contractors of treating migrants harshly and holding them in inhumane conditions.

I'm going to have to send them another $100.
