I don't know why atomic power is fought against so hard.

NASA can easily launch the debris, which with french technology is smaller than ever, into the SUN.

Makes mideast conflict irrelevant and frees world from oil.

Power also allows unlimited clean drinking water from sea water, with by product fo fuel cell fuel hydrogen, and usabel salt.

What do you think is the real reason for this vast safe energy source being suppressed?

hint see youtube about how number of deaths from operating nuclear power world wide were 0
and how hydroelectric coal etc have 100s of deaths

The idea that we can simply launch nuclear waste (especially all) nuclear waste in to the sun is a fantasy. Technically possible I'm sure but by no means easy or cheap.

An alternative method of electricity generation, even if that supported a hydrogen industry, wouldn't eliminate the need for oil or gas in the foreseeable future, especially on a world scale.

Producing clean water or hydrogen from sea water isn't a zero-sum game environmentally and requires resources beyond power. It's viable in some situations but no kind of panacea.

Referencing YouTube (especially generally) as a source for scientific data is, frankly, tragic. The idea that any industry has zero deaths associated with it is also obviously untrue.

I don't think nuclear power is being suppressed. There are plenty of opponents with a variety of valid, exaggerated and flawed objections to it. It isn't perfectly safe - nothing is - but in ways that make it difficult to compare to other forms of power generation. Dealing with waste, especially the large amounts of low-level waste such as cooling water remains an issue with associated risks. There is obviously a strong emotional problem with the word nuclear of course which would need to be overcome.

I think nuclear power is certainly viable as part of the energy mix but there isn't anything that raises it so far above all the other alternatives. Mix is the key word though. I find it difficult to have much respect for anyone who promotes a single form of power generation over all others.

A family of four will use a shoebox full of nuclear fuel in 20 years. That fuel can be reprocessed so that it is reduced by more than half. There is no need to launch it into the Sun it can be stored here on Earth and, in 50 or 60 years will not be dangerous at all. Frankly, you get more radiation from a banana then you'll ever be exposed to from a nuclear reactor.

I think nuclear power is extremely underutilized.

It's a limitless source of energy. Not exactly clean energy, but if handled properly is much cleaner than burning fossil fuels and also makes us much less economically dependent on foreign countries, some of whom fund our enemies.

I'd like to see more nuclear power plants. We don't have to plop them right in the middle of populated areas either. There's plenty of open space in this country. And lets keep in mind that many of the nuclear plants we currently have, ones that people point to as having problems, were all built decades ago. Technology and science have progressed since then, to the point where fusion is becoming more and more a question of when, not if. Not long ago they were able to achieve the first energy surplus from a fusion reaction. Exciting!

And yes, I tend to lean left on some issues. If you see me promoting alternative energy on here, know that includes nuclear power and not just the popular punching bags that are solar and wind power.

I don't understand why this is a military issue.
