If places like California are completely locked down, then where are people catching COVID?

Are you as easily according of contracting it, being on a ventilator, surviving and then having breathing and taste problems for the rest of your life? That aside, why do you seek to impose that risk on others by not minimizing transmission risk?

But what happens in between is a result of your decisions and actions. Even the manner of your death can be variable although the moment of it isn't. Your decisions can result in you not dying but living a shell of a life due to the damage COVID can cause without killing you.

Figure out the truckers and similar solitary jobs, and subtract that from your percentage.

Okay. There are 50 million "frontline" essential workers, or about 15% of the population. Most live under the same roof with people from the other 85%, most of whom are likely to go out and have some interaction with strangers in the 15%, and then go back home.

Virus can't be contained with shutdowns.

How about the damage caused by living a shell of a life through government-imposed isolation? It's essentially home arrest of people who have committed no crime.

Suicides, drug overdoses, child and spousal abuse, and crime have all sky rocketed due to lockdowns. Preventable deaths have increased because governments ordered no "elective" healthcare. That shutdown of "other healthcare" included regular appointments for cancers, heart issues, diabetes and other diseases. When "no eviction" ordinances expire this year, homelessness will skyrocket because of small business bankruptcies and the government-forced unemployment of healthy people. In order for children to develop properly they need to be able to see peoples' full facial expressions. They need to play, interact and learn with other children.

The response of global leaders amounts to crimes against humanity. 99.9% of people survive Covid.

What if....what if....if that is how you live your life, it's o.k. with me. What if you get hit tomorrow by a trash truck and are paralyzed from the neck down? I just had a friend die of an aorta rupture. Perfect health that he knew of and worked for the Sheriff's Department in his late forties. He could care less about China Virus.

It’s quite likely your friend’s ruptured aorta was caused by an influenza infection. Influenza kills nearly 100,000 Americans by inducing cardiovascular events annually. Of course now that Covid exists we will likely never be told the truth on this taboo subject. It’s too bad politicizing Covid has probably permanently ruined the chances of the medical and scientific community accepting the true death rate of influenza.

    I’m sorry about your friend.

There's no place "locked down" so the premise of your thread is false. As for how/where people are catching it...There's no accounting for stupid

I have never been told that. Ever.
In fact, bandanas should never be worn as a mask, they are useless.
Surgical masks were about 50% effective.

CDC recommends for homemade masks, two pieces of cotton fabric with examples of cotton sheets or T-shirt material. So what is a bandana, folded into a triangle? Two pieces of cotton fabric (approx the same as if you cut up a cotton bedsheet). CDC approved.

Exactly! When we had a full lockdown here (in my country), it was literally impossible to catch the virus. How can you catch something from others, when you can't be in contact with others?

Something doesn't add up with the claims that California is in lockdown. If they were, no one would (or could!) be catching COVID.

Droplets from a bandana-covered cough traveled 3 feet. With a folded cotton handkerchief, droplets traveled 1 foot, 3 inches, and with the cone-style masks, they traveled about eight inches.

Stitched-quilting fabric masks were the most effective, with droplets traveling 2.5 inches.

Testing doesn't put bandanas all that effective.

So they're NOT in lockdown then?

    A lockdown doesn't allow 'visits'.

Well, yes there are. We have them in my country. They work VERY quickly. The virus can't survive when there are no warm bodies to colonise.

How is that one person getting it? What are they doing (or in this case, not doing) while out, to expose themselves to so much risk?

Yes, but other than work .. why WOULD you do those things, when the risks are so high? No one actually needs to go shopping, with everything in the world available online.

And yet it is. When the virus has finished with one person, but has no one else to infect, it dies. You can wipe it out from a community within a couple of months.

~ Yes indeed. They have total lockdown in China where doors are bolted shut and windows blocked by the authorities. However in the USA we have that pesky thing called the U.S. Constitution .
~ There are many things that don't add up in California. :bleh:

~ The risks are not very high. Look at the statistics . Health/immune compromised individuals should take special precautions - not the general population.

    Yep. Okay. CDC stills approves.

Plus, if people still coughed into their elbow like the "good old days", then how far would droplets fly? How about a mask AND coughing into your elbow? Or how about if you don't cough? Or how about if you have a cough, you stay home without someone telling you to, like the good old days? :)

Free societies which have not been completely reduced by government to living under home arrest.
