If places like California are completely locked down, then where are people catching COVID?

I was just seeing that New York State Senate will be voting on a bill on January 6th proposing to allow the Governor or any state health commissioner to forcibly drag people, or groups of people, out of their homes and place them into either a medical center or "other" suitable location if they are "suspected" of carrying a communicable disease and the Governor or health authority decides they are a public threat. They will be detained until the government decides they are not a threat, and while detained, they will be given "treatment" determined by The State under court order, including vaccines, even if they do not consent.

So, legislating arrests of "suspected" unhealthy people and forced quarantines is the way the (state) governments can simply take over, at least in their state, after declaring an "Emergency Health Crisis".

If this flies uncontested in New York, California will quickly jump on board with their own health-arrest bills, as will most other blue states.

So then you disagree with Fauci's use of the term 'lockdown?' Using your definition, there has been no lockdown in any country in the world!

Yes, every state declared an emergency status we've been under most of the year.

For New York to write legislation to arrest, detain and medicate suspected sick people simply allows them more control for any epidemic or any other health issue in the future.

Looks like Canada is on its way to a brutal communistic police state. Now we have U.S. states writing their own privilege to abuse peoples' freedoms.

    Gatineau Quebec, New Year's Eve.

This family of six people committed the "crime" of gathering in the same house to celebrate New Year's. A neighbor made an anonymous call to report them for breaking a Covid ordinance against people from separate households gathering together.

The family said they knew they were taking a risk, but figured they'd get a polite warning if they "got caught" enjoying a family New Year's celebration.

Yeah, that's pretty insane. So the only way that this would be able to be used is if someone is tested positive, at which point the government now has a person's details and that person can now be tracked. However, I can't figure out how it would progress from there to removing that person from their home.

The bill also includes people, or groups, who have not tested positive, only "suspected" of being infectious. It's sounds like it's the governor or health official's discretion to determine who is a suspected "threat to public health".

A neighbor could call you in as a "suspect" and that would be grounds for the police detention. People who are contact-traced to one "positive case" could all be detained as suspects.

That proposed legislation also seems like it would encompass groups of people gathering "illegally" to have dinner or even possibly to protest the government, if there is strict enforcement of "no gatherings" during a health emergency.

I wasn't sure, because the conservative commentators that I listen to like Ben Shapiro give Trump credit for
letting the states handle their own affairs, as if he had a choice to NOT do that, and take over control from above in some way.

Would be pretty insane, as someone cannot be arrested if their neighbour calls the cops to say that the person has an illegal gun!

Meanwhile, black lives matters protests would be totally okay! What a JOKE! :roflol:

Citizens of less authoritarian states live in those states for a reason. Dictates from the federal government would be met with, at minimum, passive civil disobedience. For example, a federal mask mandate would likely lead to reduced compliance in many states, not increased compliance. That’s counter productive.

Compliance also decreases when "the rulers" impose harsh restrictions but behave as if the restrictions do not apply to them. That is a good "taste" of what an authoritarian state is like though.

My city mayor posted a video of himself telling people to stay home at Thanksgiving and don't have family gatherings (which was not illegal according to state law). "Mayor Cabo" was vacationing at his time share in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico at the time he recorded the video. People are not pleased.

Exactly. Leaders lead by example. Authoritarians say “do as I say, not as I do”.

The people should have a right to "apologize" for breaking rules, just like the dictators, then we'll be on an even playing field. lol

Look at the last headline of a series:

That sounds much like the neighbor snitching on neighbor done in the name of the drug war. Many people will fall right in place and report their neighbors and friends for not wearing a mask or being otherwise suspicious.
