I think you put too much faith in government. You assume "there must be some way". You make a lot of assumptions, because it's easier not to have to recognize a terrible and difficult problem exists.

However, I think Turin might have been proposing a hypothetical. So the issue of whether it actually exists or not may not be important.

No you don’t deserve to. You probably will but that is a fault in the legal system.

Crimes against property seem to be treated differently from crimes against the person.

Also, some folks don't bother to hide their faces from where there's cameras. Or they dropped their ID in a hurry. Or they simply don't think ahead.

Valuing women on whether or not they had sex ?? What a sick, misogynistic thing to do...

First there has to be enough evidence to charge you, then the rest is up to a jury.
You seem to be hinting at extra judicial remedies.

That being said. Who says it has to be rape at all? I know that was my example, because most rapists never get convicted. It could just be theft for example.

It does, and of course not.

I believe in the complete and total respect of people and there persons. Most especially women. My mother raised me properly.

To make a long story short, I used rape as an example because it is one of the least prodsocuted crimes.

My partner for example, was sold for a drug debt by her ex BF. She was held hostage for weeks, Raped by multiple people. Beaten. Burned. Some of the most horrible things we cant ever even imagine happening to ourselves. She suffers immense physcological damage.

She was never able to prove a thing in court, and her assailants got away scott free.

Its something I hold near and dear to my heart, and makes me incredibly angry.

Thank you for explaining that this thread was not meant to be specifically about rape or any one specific crime, but you still have not really explained what the specific point you were trying to discuss was. I am still confused about exactly what topic you want to focus on in your thread.

Is the punishment actually different for anally raping a man vs a woman? I don't think so. I think, probably, rape is seen as more serious than it is... maybe. It's bad, but not on the level of ending somebody's life. Then again, I've never been raped and I don't formally study its effects but the severity of its aftermath seems to vary quite a bit but generally seems more severe than a regular physical assault. Losing the ability to have normal healthy sex throughout the rest of ones life is different than a physical assault, unless it causes some kind of permanent injury or severe PTSD.

To be honest I kinda like it when they snitch on themselves and get shocked when they're caught. Makes less work for everybody to catch you and everyone else in the world is treated to a full display of your idiocy. Everybody wins:wink:

That being said, if you're gonna commit a crime like robbery or a heist or something, don't be sloppy or lazy. If you're not putting in a serious effort in your crime, then you're not serious about it.

I guess because property can always be recovered or replaced.

But the thing about a crook or a thief is that they are inherently lazy and motivated by greed and when you're motivated by greed what bit of intelligence you had is now turned off.

So yeah... All in all that makes easy work for the authorities and entertainment for the rest of us

define your term. what does "deserve to get away with it" even mean? legally we require evidence "beyond a reasonable doubt", whatever that means, and we have to deal with such things as jury nullification. biblically no one ever "gets away" with anything. there is always an omnipresent creator to pass ultimate judgement. extra-judicially we deal with the emotional components as well as vengeance and vendetta.

It very much depends on the “crime”. If it is rape then NO! But farting in an elevator…….

Of course not, why would you deserve it just because you could get away with it. Do I deserve your TV if I can get away with breaking in and stealing it? Do I deserve your life if I can kill you and get away with it?
