I'm Not Sure Why James Cameron Would Make "Avatar: The Way Of Water" So Boring

Beautiful visuals can't make up for the film's oversimplified view of colonialism.

This Buzzfeed review is unreadable. Punctuated with standard-issue leftist drivel about paternalism, white supremacy, "disinterest in the complex interrelationships of marginalized groups" (LOL!), colonialism, cultural appropriation, blah blah blah.

I seem to recall that there was some right wing angst about the first installment. Now the table appears to be set for some leftist cannibalism.

I tapped out of the first one after about 20 or 30 minutes. I can recall better dialogue & more inventive plotlines in the Marvel comics I read as a kid. Plus, what a waste of Sigourney Weaver. I don't know if she's in this one, and I'll never find out since I won't be watching the sequel either.

that you did not like the first one, tells me all I need to know in your review of the second

I thought the first one was great, so if you could not make it 20 or 30 min into the first one... our views of what is a good movie differ greatly... but to each his own, sure you like some movies I don't too, and that is ok

Enquiring minds still don't know why he made the first one. Has to be one of the worst films ever made.

What was the last good James Cameron movie? The Terminator? His movies, just my opinion, are rife with horrible writing, worse acting, and mediocre special effects. After the first Avatar, with the silly plot, the unobtainium, the carbon fiber bones, I vowed to never watch another crime against humanity he directs.

I saw a trailer for 80 For Brady yesterday, Might pass my Big Fat Greek Waste of 87 Minutes as the worst movie ever.

Best thing to do is avoid all of the dribble coming out Hollywood - there are much better things to be doing than monetarily supporting those woke idiots.

Here's another yardstick to measure me by: I loathe the spaghetti westerns. Cheesy beyond belief. Horrible Italian actors made horribler by the asinine dubbed dialogue. Ridiculously melodramatic soundtracks. Super duper closeups so we can count the Italian nose hairs. Gag me with a rancid meatball. And would someone please shove that harmonica up Charles Bronson's ass? Thanks in advance.

PS: I've made a holy vow to never watch another Star Wars movie/tv show until I receive credible reports that we get to see Jar Jar Binks being fed into a wood chipper.

    Thatisall.

Worst movies I have seen in the last several years. Just my opinion.

    Django Unchained. Horrific.
    The second Sicario
    Anchorman
Anything that had Gerard Butler in it.

I think I was 9 or 10 when the first Star Wars came out. I remember watching it think they can fly through space, but can't aim their lasers.

Okay, I will concede Aliens was good, but Alien was directed by Ridley Scott.

Same reason Rings of Strong Female Women, Star Trek: Women Crying in Space, Willow: Girl Power, She Hulk, Willow, and everything else leftists touch is pure garbage.

I'll wager Frito-Lay sells tons more Cheetos than Ruth's Chris sells aged rib eyes. Popular doesn't always = quality.

It is kind of odd making a thread about a movie you haven't seen nor have any plans to see. I was not a huge fan of the first but it was entertaining. It is your standard big budget Hollywood popcorn flick. I don't expect much more from the sequels but I will watch them when they hit a streaming service.

I didn't understand the angle. The brave settlers and soldiers who risk everything to carve civilization out of a savage planet are senselessly attacked by blue savages. The movie seems to take the POV of the savage terrorists who destroy billions of dollars in equipment and kill dozens of precious human lives. Sad ending.

For me it's less about the movie than it is about the asinine politicized review. That I get to include a rant of my own is just gravy.

Re: streaming services - I can't remember the last time I went to a theater. Traffic, parking, crowds, lines, the parents who couldn't find a sitter for their fussy kid, the couple in the next row who won't shut up, 10 bucks for popcorn... I'm perfectly content to wait til what I want to see is available online.

That is kind of common place nowadays. I a geeky fanboy of Marvel, Trek, Star Wars etc... A movie or TV show cannot come out without some politically partisan group attacking it. Look at all the blow back at Disney for their casting choices, LGBTQ inclusion, race swapping, etc.... The same was true with LOTR and GOT new TV series. How many people had issues with casting Black actors as elves, hobbits, Targaryens etc... CW's Arrowverse is constantly attacked for their shows and even though I would agree with some of the criticism the best way to object is to not watch. I stopped watching Supergirl because that show just went crazy but the real problem is those that have never seen an episode but want to complain.

Avatar was a masterpiece, it blew my mind especially when I saw it in 3D in Imax. I saw it twice in the first week. As for the new one, its technically brilliant but its way too long and the story line is much too similar to the first one. Nevertheless, the meaning behind the storyline is wonderful. I will see the next one and marvel yet again at the technology.

When you don’t agree with the preacher (Cameron) it gets boring fairly quickly. Movies are made to entertain, not preach. Much of Hollywood has forgotten that.

I have over 400 films on CDs in my library so I am a fan. Most of latest stuff has not been worth my while. The Academy Awards are a joke. “The slap” was a lame effort to improve their ratings on TV.

Now wait just a second, you hate the spaghetti westerns? Are you mad? I bet you hated the Trinity movies too. My god, this is blasphemy. Tell me why you would hate a movie that has this scene in it...this could be one of the best scenes in all cinema history...

I've never heard of that movie, and now I know why. I lasted 2.5 minutes. 2 minutes & 30 seconds I'll never get back. You are a bitter and hurtful hombre, Wooley. Bitter. And hurtful.

I don't get the folks that think only white people can play roles. I can't wait for a movie about Joe Frazier starring Hugh Grant.
