Randy Parraz and his posse of activists from Citizens for a Better Arizona want Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to come clean on using taxpayer money for an investigation into President Obama's birth certificate.

Dressed in Hawaiian garb, members of CBA were at Arpaio's executive office on the 19th floor of the Wells Fargo Building in downtown Phoenix today, demanding that the sheriff face some of the taxpayers' footing the $10,000 bill for sending an MCSO deputy to Hawaii as part of the birther probe.

At first, Arpaio claimed no taxpayer money was going to be used in investigating the often-debunked Tea Party-inspired conspiracy theory.

But that quickly changed when the sheriff sent MCSO Deputy Brian Mackiewcz to Hawaii on the taxpayer's dime, accompanying "cold-case posse" volunteer and lead birther investigator Mike Zullo.

"This is about a sheriff's betrayal of taxpayers," Parraz said at the press conference. "So we're waiting for him to retract that statement...that no public money was used for this investigation."

Saturday afternoon Channel 12's Brahm Resnik reported that for the deputy's 9-night stay at Honolulu's Ala Moana Hotel, the bill came to $1,323.

Resnik also reported that the trip should have been cleared with the county manager, as is required for county trips outside the continental U.S.

 

Let us know when we see any honesty, openness and American Constitutional integrity from Birthers....it will be a first.

And of course you would believe Sheriff Joe over Obama....after all Sheriff Joe has been officially linked in to abusing the powers of his office to intimidate his political opponents. Two attorney partners of Sheriff Joe have been disbarred for their abuse of powers- luckily for Sheriff Joe- he isn't an attorney.

Much speculation has appeared as to what new or recycled birther rumor they will present under the stern gaze of Joe Arpaio, Maricopa County Sheriff and WorldNetDaily spokesperson. Sheriff Joe has decades experience in law enforcement projecting authority and looking serious. One expects the Sheriff’s Cheap Detective1, Mike Zullo, to do most of the talking.

I’ve spent some time thinking about how this blog should report the birther story, and I realized that there is an important distinction between talk and action. President Obama releasing his long-form birth certificate was action. My editorial stance is that talk is cheap and that actions speak louder than words. The Cold Case Posse to date has been all talk.

The problem with pornography (and I’m talking about birther pornography here — the talk dirty about Obama fetish and sadistic fantasies of a violent end to his term of office1) is that porn gets old. One has to keep upping the intensity to get the same rush as before. I think WND and Sheriff Joe understand this, and they will try their utmost to come up with something for the press conference tomorrow that will perhaps fall short of "doing something" but still make it seem that they are on the verge of doing something, that they are closing in on the culprits, the President’s Waterloo is at hand, and very soon birthers will burst in to the spotlight triumphant to receive the adulation of a grateful nation.

Of course like all pornography, it’s fantasy. Obama is eligible to be President and anyone with an ounce of sense knows it. There is no forgery and no fraud in his documents and that fact is why nothing will be done, and most people don’t seem to care.
