Well, some have said they would be fine with homeless people dying.

That is one of the more fundamental flaws that a human being can have - greed to such an extent that we no longer care about life itself.

I don't have a good solution when people don't care about the lives of others.

I will say that even if you feel that way, it's still a problem for us all in that disease is not something that limits itself to those dying on a park bench. And, bankruptcy is a highly common result of people trying to stay alive - a result that costs us all.

You have not successfully defended that claim.

In fact, I've pointed out that Medicare is a SOLUTION to major portions of your claim.

And, if you have nothing that is worse than the fraud already existing in our for-profit insurance system of today, then you fail.

Yes, that is NOT the complete set of options.

    You left out dying.

You left out remaining sick and thus unable to work - relying on the social safety net services that tax payers pay for.

You left out indigent care at the ER - the most expensive care US providers supply.

That is part of my point. Posters pick something about healthcare they do not like or something they like and that is what they beat the drum over. This is a very divisive topic. It pits poster vs poster as though we are at war.

We have wealthy people, for instance, such as a man I knew prior to his death, Morris Hyman who founded the Bank of Fremont. Morris has a wing of Washington Hospital named in his honor. The Morris i knew was a nice man. His wealth might have put off a lot of Democrats, but not we republicans.

In 2018 they dedicated his wing of the hospital in his honor. Morris was a Democrat yet he made you feel as great as he would as a republican.

So when was the fraud problem solved? Medicare has 400% more fraud than private insurance.

Yes - there is more than one objective with healthcare. And, I suspect all parties see multiple objectives.

No, Dems are very definitely NOT put off by wealth.

Once again, you cite a personal anecdote - a weak form of argument and in this case without a point as far as I can tell.

You are supposed to pick a provider in the network. You want a dollar's worth for 50 cents, I mean "fitty cent."

I vote Libertarian, not Republican, with few exceptions. The R's and D's are both spending us unto ruination.

Please honor Morris Hyman by ignoring my comments since you loathe them so much.

Telling someone they SHOULD pay going insurance company rates when they don't have the dollars is really not a legitimate policy.

In fact, it's pretty much stupid, isn't it?

Then, you toss in your racism.

    I get it!

The ACA slowed the growth in American healthcare expenditure.

It could have done so to a greater extent.

I don't loathe him at all. He sounds like a good guy!

I just don't see any way that your story supports anything you've said on this thread.

I guess this thread is going to be locked down soon, not because of misbehavior or anything, it is simply too long. If you want to continue the discussion, I will leave it to someone else to start a second thread on the topic. The admin, Falena, said it could be linked to this one which will be locked.

It has been a good discussion.
