    I agree here.

I suspect anyone who supports this who isn't a millionaire will find themselves with a painful case of buyer's remorse.

"NEAR the window by which I write, a great bull is tethered by a ring in his nose. Grazing round and round he has wound his rope about the stake until now he stands a close prisoner, tantalized by rich grass he cannot reach, unable even to toss his head to rid him of the flies that cluster on his shoulders. Now and again he struggles vainly, and then, after pitiful bellowings, relapses into silent misery.

This bull, a very type of massive strength, who, because he has not wit enough to see how he might be free, suffers want in sight of plenty, and is helplessly preyed upon by weaker creatures, seems to me no unfit emblem of the working masses.

In all lands, men whose toil creates abounding wealth are pinched with poverty, and, while advancing civilization opens wider vistas and awakens new desires. are held down to brutish levels by animal needs. Bitterly conscious of injustice, feeling in their inmost souls that they were made for more than so narrow a life, they, too, spasmodically struggle and cry out. But until they trace effect to cause, until they see how they are fettered and how they may be freed, their struggles and outcries are as vain as those of the bull. Nay, they are vainer. I shall go out and drive the bull in the way that will untwist his rope. But who shall drive men into freedom? Till they use the reason with which they have been gifted, nothing can avail. For them there is no special providence.

Under all forms of government the ultimate power lies with the masses. It is not kings nor aristocracies, nor land-owners nor capitalists, that anywhere really enslave the people. It is their own ignorance..." --Henry George, introductory to “Protection or Free Trade”

Actually, The new job has a starting pay higher than the job I lost. Call centers are one of the last decent to good paying service jobs in the USA. The reason, It's a very difficult job. You get yelled at by customers all day. Sometimes their grievances are legit, And sometimes they just want you to give them a freebie. Regardless, You have to treat them with the utmost respect and kindness, Balancing the wants of the customer with the wants and requirements of the company.

And as most companies pay their call centers based on many factors, Including quality and total number of calls taken, They continually push for faster and faster calls, While STILL maintaining 90 percent plus quality. And all of the other tenners of other types of jobs, Such as being on time and working, Still apply. I had been forced several times to work overtime for business needs.

Needless to say, Turnover rates for call centers are VERY high. Of course, People would say anyone could do my job, But no, That's not true. I don't believe there are so many people that could do my job, Especially as well as I can. That's why I was re-hired so quickly. Five plus years at a job shows loyalty and my stats have always been consistently good. My only problem were some medical issues that caused me to miss a lot of work, And by the time I was able to see a doctor and get treatment, It was already too late.

This is the reason I believe employees should also have a say in what they are paid for what they produce. I understand capitalism, But capitalism without morality to place some restrictions is never going to be accepted by the majority.

Go to a college or trade school? I don't have the money. Start a business? I don't take risks, I want a secure paycheck to help pay my financial obligations. And just letting my pay slowly stagnate, While corporate profits soar? I'll fight that. I'll fight using whatever methods I have to. I'm not going to work 80 plus hour work weeks to maintain my lifestyle. I'm not going to work for pennies on the dollar. Businesses are going to pay me a fair wage, That at the minimum cover costs of food, shelter, and healthcare. If they do not, I will use any legal means to make them. If they want to stop me, They will have to convince the majority of people that their views are the right one.

I do not see that happening any time in the future.

    Thank you for your time.

Pardon my laughter here.... So you do not have the time, money, or want to take the risk to better yourself, but you have plenty of time to fight for more pay... when you add no skills to yourself to warrent extra pay! I mean no disrespect..... but I am puzzled how you cannot see the problem with that....

Skills are for suckers. Privileges are for winners. If you own privileges, you don’t need skills, you don’t even need to work, just walk to the mailbox and pull out the rent/royalty checks.

Depends "who" you know, not "what" you know, huh?

It takes far less risk to vote for politicians that share the views that I have then to risk time and money I don't have for the chance of a career that pays good money. Maybe, If I can advance in my current occupation enough to make decent money, I may try for a trade school. But it won't be a job that I want to do for a living, It'll just be another job I have to work to pay the bills.

As far as protesting, The OWS protests are rather crude and people are getting arrested, So I'm not sure If I want to protest at one of their gatherings. Of course, I'll have to give up some of my limited spare time, So I'll have to think about if the cost is worth it.

I am attempting to better myself, Just not in the way YOU and other rich people and businesses would like. That doesn't make it any more or less moral than what the rich and businesses do.

Remember, In the end it'll come down to which group has the numbers and convictions to change the laws to benefit themselves. The poor have the numbers now, They just need the convictions.

    Thank you for your time.

Ok.... It is your life.... do what you want with it. Do me a favor though..... save these messages that we have exchanged.... and look back at them in 5 years. See if you are still just as unhappy with where you are in life then as now. See if your situation has improved much.... or at all. Think about the choices that you made in those 5 years and how they added or subtracted from you situation. I suppose that time will play the grand arbiter of which one of our philosophies is correct. Enjoy....
