The federal judge overseeing the contempt of Congress case against Peter Navarro on Friday questioned the decision of prosecutors to publicly arrest the former Trump White House trade official rather than just summon him to court.

Just the News reported Wednesday on the growing outcry among legal experts against perceived Justice Department strong-arm tactics targeting skeptics of the 2020 presidential election outcome and other critics of the Biden administration.

An architect of Trump administration trade policy, Navarro produced in an unofficial capacity a three-part report questioning the "fairness and integrity" of the 2020 presidential election.

Navarro was publicly arrested by FBI agents at Reagan National Airport just outside Washington, D.C. last month on misdemeanor charges that he acted in contempt of Congress by defying a subpoena from House Democrats' committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

According to Navarro, federal agents put him in handcuffs, leg irons, strip-searchedhim, denied him a chance to call his lawyer, and deprived him of food and water. The Justice Department has saidthose claims are false.

At a hearing in Navarro's case on Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta indicated he agreed federal agents used unnecessary force against the former White House official, Politico reported….

he justice department is targeting those who question the 2020 election for government abuse. There was no excuse for the governments abuse of Navarro or how it treated him in custody. I hope that the judge sanctions the justice department for its abuse.

Navarro is a great American. He did not deserve the treatment dished out to him by the democrats.

So the question remains. Why did the justice department and FBI violate Navarros basic civil rights over enforcement of a non violent misdemeanor offense? Were they trying to make an example of him to instill fear in the rest of us.

So the judge is upset he wasn’t subpoenaed after defying a prior subpoena?

I’ll be the first to acknowledge I am not a legal expert but what typically happens when a citizen ignores a subpoena? Do they just keep subpoenaing the individual until they hopefully show up?

The judge simply believes that your regime used excessive force in what they did.

They subverted the Trump campaign civil rights with fraudulent FISA warrant and turn a blind eye to it because it hurt the Orange man... so this doesn't surprise me. There are "rules for thee and not for me" in the Democrat party. It's literally sickening that Democrats have become so.... well, Stalinist.

Actually he did not. The judge believes that the defendant had excessive force used on him.
