Do rich people sell out the middle class? I don’t think so. I think politicians sell out the middle class. I think the poor sell out the middle class. I think people who want what they did not earn sells out the middle class. If the rich sell out the middle class I would like to know how rather than just throwing a catch phrase at me.

face it folks, everyone sells out everyone else. the rich are concerned with keeping their wealth and adding to it when they can. the poor are concerned with taking the wealth that everyone else has accumulated, by fair means or foul. the politicians, though, must bear must bear the greatest onus. their duty is to protect all citizens, but their power enables them to pick and choose which class to lay the greatest favor on in order to enhance their own power structure. the very fact that their power is not earned, but given to them by the people, makes their avarice all the more heinous.

I too replied all. The poor have been indoctrinated into being willing sell outs exchanging their values for a bowl of rice. Would you believe before WW2 it was considered a shameful humiliation to feel you need to take from others? I am specific about this as I think we already know and agree about how the others are harming the middle class.
But everyone listed is doing their part in betraying and destroying the middle class.

what we have to remember is that "middle class" was redefined after ww2 to include many that would have otherwise been considered lower. that boom gave us bus drivers and factory workers entering the middle class, though previously that label would have been reserved for business owners and upper-management. well, that boom is over. the rest of the world has caught up and we're going to have to get used to our lower status in the world.

I disagree. The problem isn't that more people world wide are getting prosperous. That just means more people that can buy the stuff I'm selling, invest in my company, give me a job. It is that we in the USA have a government controlled by an international cabal that see the US as nothing more than a base of operations. And they don't like interlopers.
I'm afraid in my old age, I support private sector unions. They're awful. Except for the alternatives.

Literally everyone except the poor because they can’t sell out to anyone, so Kamala is more right in her statement than people care to admit.

Yes, the Clintons, Bidens and Obamas have come from classes ranging from poor to lower middle class to people who are now worth $100 million or more per family. All of this was done on 6 figure salaries, speaking tours and book sales. Speaking tours are often covers for bribery.

Hillary Clinton has given speeches were she has not allowed the press to cover them. What has she got to hide? Plenty.

The Democrats talk a good game, but they don't care about the middle class. If the Democrats get middle class votes, that's great. It's the mega rich, who give them millions in campaign money, and the lower classes, who lap up the Democrat "class warfare" nonsense, who are the Democrats' main targets.

If you are a middle class white male, you are fool to vote Democrat. They made you the main target for their "White privilege" nonsense.

bull pucky!!! the poor have power by sheer numbers and they use that power, through politicians, to get their hands on the wealth of the upper and middle classes. greed is not reserved solely for the wealthy.

Lmao the poor are the quickest to sell out. They seek all their morals for something they could work for but refuse to do so. Why is it that the rich don’t get child tax credits? Why is it that the rich don’t get free food or shelter? Why is it that the rich doesn’t get Medicaid?

in fact tell me how the rich has squandered the middle class.

To be fair, it seems the Harris campaign specifically referred to "self-obsessed rich guys" like Trump and Musk rather than rich people in general.

Logically speaking, there’d be no poor people in this scenario, and yet here we are still with people living in poverty in America. Its almost like there’s more to people being poor here.

It’s real fcking easy to say any of this looking down from where you are and not even attempting to try and understand nuance or context. Especially when you haven’t even entertained the possibility that not every poor person is some lazy ******* that doesn’t want to work but maybe actually IS working and trying to make ends meet but it’s not panning out so well.

How do you know where I look down from? And how it is to look down from where I’m at. Please tell me how you found out that my first place to live on my own was in a friends unfinished basement with blankets as walls. Or how hard it was to go from there to owning two houses then back to one house again. How did you know that all?

Let me let you in on a secret. Even if the poor aren’t lazy they never took the same risks or had the same intelligence to make it somewhere. How do I know because I was poor at one time. You have no idea where I view things.

however feel free to let me know how the rich squander the poor

I mean yes, they do, but its a very tiny percentage of rich people, that includes but not limited to the rich politicians that make it harder on the middle class.

But painting all rich people into that box is even more damaging to the middle class, as history has proven that authoritative 'equality of outcomes' style economies lead to the complete irradication of a middle class.

obviously your "logic" hasn't led you to the fact that you can steal and still be poor. that is, after all, what we're talking about here - taxing the rich to give to the poor is, in the broadest sense, theft. that our "social contract" allows this doesn't make it any less true. what your "logic" fails to grasp is that it is almost impossible to steal your way out of poverty, especially when that poverty is of your own design. add to that the fact that the political animals enabling this theft are taking a big cut out of the kitty and it becomes plain that the poor and the bleeding hearts are playing a fool's game when they elect such criminals into office. this is further exacerbated when those same bleeding hearts insist on adding to the rolls of our own poor with every tom, dick and harry that comes knocking at the border.

the poor will always be with us, i'm sure you've heard that phrase before, and there are many reasons for poverty. like greatness, some are born to it and others have it thrust upon them. what is universally true, however, is that poverty cannot be eradicated by simply handing out cash to the poor, no matter how much they may demand it. this is why it is the politicians who must bear most of the blame for the destruction of the middle class. they are the ones, most specifically those who embrace the authoritarian tenets of progressivism, who have normalized the concept of ending poverty through taxation. where the wealthy can simply pass on a great deal of the tax burden through the means of production which they control, the middle class bear that burden as well as the tax burden placed upon them. the lower classes are already largely subsidized, so they need not worry about the taxes, and they consume less, so their share of the wealthy's passed on burden is negligible.

i did not say that the people were getting more prosperous, but that the nations had rebuilt. they rebuilt their infrastructures and their industrial capabilities while we were basking in the glow of success. largely unscathed and with our industry in overdrive, we were pretty much the only game in town. this sparked the creation of wealth in a system that was already the greatest creator of wealth the world has ever seen. all of that wealth put dollar signs in the eyes of those who control the unions you seem to adore and they, in turn, put the screws to management for more and more outrageous demands. our steel industry was one of the first to feel the real pinch. with lower wages and a superior work ethic, they took over and never looked back. next came electronics and cars and soon the most basic home goods were coming from anywhere but our backyard. then, of course, there were the energy problems - the self-destructive tendencies of the coal industry, an over-reliance on the opec nations, allowing speculators to over-ride the basic economics of supply and demand, and on and on and on...

we believed our own press and were victims of our own success, but it all seems to come back to that post ww2 boom. while everyone else was rebuilding, often on our dime, we were riding the wave. our expectations grew with our fortunes and we are now at a point where even something for nothing isn't enough.

Yes. Uncle Bernie has done very well, and AOC was gushing over becoming a millionaire not long ago. Nancy Pelosi was number one in income for insider trading among Congress critters for years. So was Diane 'Warbucks' Feinstein.

Pelosi alone made more than the other 19 in the Top 20 combined. Most of them were Democrats.

Leftist elites have spent almost 100 years trying to addict the poor and much of the middle class to government handouts-to make sure people become dependent on democrat politicians to continue to fund their handouts

lol the Democratic Party sold out the proles with the Super Delegate Rule, disenfranchising them completely from the political process. The middle class was dancing in the streets, they were all going to get rich flipping their hyper-inflated house equities and buying junk bonds so **** the proles. Never dawned on them that after they bankrupt the lazy proles who was next in line to be plundered.

No need to whine over the middle class dwindling away, let them all get rich selling each other Apple stock and bitcoin scams. Just more self-inflicted problems they won't take responsibility for. They were all for off-shoring and Too Big To Fail socialism for Wall Street. All Wall Street sells is debt, so no one should be surprised that is what drives the domestic economy now. The financial sector bankrupts everything it touches when it isn't regulated.

Does anyone here actually believe over 300 top corporations signed up to support BLM because they suddenly developed consciences and wanted to help black people n stuff ??? lol

I don't know, you'd have to ask Harris. I was just providing the source you failed to do.

She really didn't, just as she didn't refer to all self-obsessed people as rich. She identified a subset of people who are both self-obsessed and rich, giving Trump and Musk as examples.

You're free to disagree with her categorisation or accusation (and I'd call it hollow political rhetoric at best) but you can't make up your own interpretations, especially if you challenge people who do the same with many of Trump's statements (which I'm sure you do).

More like middle class working people such as myself that politicians screw over. We the people that take our ass to work, are nothing but gears in the wheel and we are the ones that the parasites feed upon.

Somebody's got to pay all of these taxes that they fund welfare with and the politicians are selling welfare for votes but they sure as hell on contributing a single penny to what they're giving away

Greedy people don't care who gets hurt in their lust for more, but it's not just the rich to be infected by it. Anyone has the potential to sell out anyone else to make a buck, and it can be one middle class dude who screws over his neighbor. Happens all the time.

As for her comment, it's hard to say without seeing the quite and context. Rich do get richer, that is true, but is it at the expense of others? That is debatable. I am not bothered by some people having lot of money. There are tons of multi millionaires where I live, and it does not bother me one bit.

Politicians in general (D and R). How many times have they made insider trading in Congress harder, only to make it easy again? Many times.

Not me. I never see myself as a victim who is being screwed over. I see myself as someone who has been blessed, and people I know (for the most part) are also blessed although many keep complaining and play the victim

What is your effective tax rate?
