I really don't think Musk buying Twitter was any sort of deciding factor.
At the end of the day Twitter is a bunch of mindless idiots looking for an echo chamber.
    Given the current conditions:
The Democrats would have lost anyway...
Regardless of who they ran (Gavin, Gretch, Etc.)...
The tide was that strong, and headed in only one direction...
The tide of blaming a bad economy on the incumbent party, and "voting one's pocketbook", would have doomed ANY Dem. Nominee...
    "It's the economy stupid", etc...

As george carlin said, think how stupid the average american is and realize that 50% of them are stupider than that.

It was President Biden's fault she was thrown into the race with little more than 100 days to campaign, he should never have chosen to run again. When he ran in 2020 he promised it would be one term only.

First of all, it's hilarious that most of the people on this thread are Republican. Why would you want the Democrats to figure out what they did wrong so that they can defeat you in the next election? Two, all I see is "Harris did this, and the Democrats didn't do that, etc...", but I don't see any Republicans saying that the reason Harris lost, is that Trump was the better candidate. Hmm.. why would that be?

All evidence to the contrary; she was elected DA and Senator from California and then, VP.

The only message the Dems were selling was that trump was an evil piece of crap. In the end they wore it out and the majority of voters either didn't believe it or didn't care. All they knew was that when Trump was president they could afford gas and groceries and a bit of entertainment now and then and after nearly four years of biden they could barely afford anything. And they left telling them that was all smoke and mirrors just pissed them off.

    Trump was the better candidate.

For me personally I want the Democrats to figure out what they did wrong solely so they get rid of that Progressive tumor that has latched itself onto the Party and is now sucking the lifeblood out of it. Let's get real, no Party is going to maintain total control of the government forever. Right now yes the Republicans are in high spirits for good reason but this may very well change in 2026 and 2028 and beyond. I have little issue with Liberals and little issue with Democrats 20 years ago back when the party was normal. I myself was a Democrat until 2016. One day the Democrat Party WILL regain control of power in America and when that day comes I would like for it to be the Democrat Party of the 90s and early 2000's when Democrats were actually Liberals and the Party was sane vs this new radical Left wing Progressive Party that would ruin the country.

For me "figuring out what they did wrong" means dumping the Progressive nonsense and going back to normal. I don't want them to look at this election and somehow come to the idiotic conclusion that the reason they lost is because they weren't progressive ENOUGH which seems to be conclusion many of them are coming to. It's a gamble yes, the more they double down on this nonsense they greater chance Republicans have to keep trouncing them going forward. But IF this stuff starts gaining more traction in society they may have a chance to win with these radical policies and I absolutely do not want that in my country.

Here’s something to think about. 2020 high voter turnout 160 million, 62.8% using VAP. 2024, low voter turnout 143 million, 54.0% using VAP. Trump, votes received 2020, 74.2 million, votes so far in 2024 73.5 million. Biden, votes received in 2020, 81.3 million, Harris votes received in 2024 69.1 million. Once all the votes are counted, Trump will come close to matching or surpassing his 2020 vote total of 74.2 million he received in 2020. Harris is running 12 million votes behind the 81.3 million Biden received in 2020.

Why did 17 million folks who voted in 2020 decide to give 2024 a pass? Trump will receive very close to the same amount of votes this year as he received in 2020. Yet, Harris will fall about 12 million votes short of Biden’s total of 81.3 million. Trump retained his 2020 voters, Harris failed to retain a lot of Biden’s voters from 2020. They didn’t cross over and vote for Trump, they stayed home, they didn’t bother to vote. Low voter turnout is probably one of the main reason Harris lost. Do we blame Harris and democrats for that? Perhaps Harris and the Democrats took all of 2020 Biden voters for granted? But Harris isn’t Biden and 2024 isn’t 2020. Perhaps that is where one should search if one is playing the blame game.

Easy I want two parties that actually care about the American people. We can have arguments about how government best serve the American people. There is no useful argument to be had between those who wish government to serve the people and those who wish government to dictate to the American people.

So what exactly are the radical progressive policies that you think are hurting the Democrats? My idea of what a radical progressive policy is, most likely is very different than yours.

    Enough already dissecting the race.
What's important now is how Trump will govern. We'll see says the blind man.
What's important now is will the democrats change or stay woke. We'll see says the blind man.

The biggest problem is that both sides believe that the other side doesn't care about the American people so your arguments can be used either way. For example, Democrats believe that Republicans wish for a government that will dictate to the American people, why do you think that they came up with the whole "Republican's are fascists" thing, and why they hate/fear Project 2025 so much? On the other hand, the Republicans have done a better job at convincing the public that Republicans cares more about them than the Democrats do. So for that, kudos.

Actually VP Harris had many positive goals for her administration that she brought up frequently and, actually, compared to tRaitor tRump she ran a much more positive campaign. TRaitor tRump inherited a very robust and growing economy from President Obama which, due to or at least exacerbated by his inept handling of the COVID Pandemic, fell off a cliff during his last year as president. Biden/Harris, like Obama inherited a **** economy that they were forced to spend much of their Administration fixing and, consequently, tRaitor tRump will now inherit just as it's taking off again.

The only thing you got right is American's are "pissed off", pissed off enough to elect the most unqualified criminal in the country that they resoundingly fired just four years ago. And frankly I don't blame them.

Democrats need to change AND stay woke. The country needs to change how its run. TRaitor tRump isn't going to do that, not in the way that it needs to be.

I saw an analyst on the tube yesterday recite some numbers from previous presidential elections. Calling attention to the relationship between the incumbent's approval rating and how the candidate from his party faired in the election. The correlation was compelling.

So, we can argue about whether Biden's numbers were warranted or not. But at about a 40% approval rating, as his VP, Harris really never had a chance based on past history. Arguably, she over achieved because her opponent was so manifestly unfit to be prez.

Anything that would have gotten you laughed out of the room by a 90's Democrat. For example:

Should we allow transgender men to play in women's sports and share locker rooms and get women's scholarships?
90's Democrat: No because that's stupid

Should we reduce the funding of police and allow certain minority groups to run amok with virtual impunity without prosecution due to historical wrongdoings?
90s Democrat: No because that's stupid, see 90's Joe Biden

Should we create quotas and new DEI departments to force the inclusion of historically marginalized peoples regardless of merit or qualifications?
90s Democrat: No because that's stupid and dangerous

Should the government police and censor speech in order to combat misinformation and for the greater good of society?
90s Democrat: No that's stupid, it's the Republicans who kicked and screamed about censoring things for the "greater good"

Should America get involved in wars all over the planet in order to maintain global peace and prosperity?
90s Democrat: No that's stupid, Republicans are the war mongers not us.

College kids are marching through the streets and taking over campuses holding terrorist flags what should we do?
90s Democrat: Arrest every one of them and put them on a list

Not sure how 90s Democrats would respond to some other modern talking points like paying off student debt or free healthcare. But yeah the aforementioned stuff is not popular, stop supporting that stuff.

    She seems upset. lol

Who really pushed out Joe? Obama? Pelosi? Schumer? (Not Schumer, he takes orders from Nancy)

Joe would have lost anyway but Kamala was a bad choice.

When President Biden decided to run and then decided pull out of the race in July, VP Harris was the only choice. VP Harris isn't the reason tRaitor tRump won.

I think she is. Democrats have a way of having a handful of power players decide their candidate; voters be damned. Biden blew it by attempting to cling to power. He should have let the primary happen. Harris would NOT have been the nominee.

Another huge problem for Democrats was not having COVID to rely on and not having Mark Zuckerbeg pour $400 million into 47 states and harvest ballots. IMO, what he did was illegal and constitues voter fraud. If Trump had done this to Obama in 2012 against Romney and Romney won, the Democrats would have been suing him into the dirt.

Overall though, Democrats running Joe, then pulling him, then installing Harris, then Walz comes in the picture....... I think all the nonsense and lack of clear direction really sank the campaign.

Did you notice how Harris pandered to blacks, then Latinos, then women, then back to blacks, but she never seemed to care what Jews or men wanted. She campaigned on, when anyone could understand her, hatred.

Democrats kicked her to the curb in the 2020 primaries for a reason and it wasn't racism or sexism.
