We have clear evidence Trump was pressuring Zelensky in the transcript of the phone conversation Trump released. He not only wanted Zelensky to announce an investigation of Biden but agree to work with Giuliani. Trump came back to his request several times. That's pressure when you need something from us.

Can Trump explain it away? I don't think so.

It was undergoing a delay to dissipate negative opinion toward Trump. I think the Barr summary was misleading about the conclusion I quoted.
He was working with Trump to pressure Zelensky. Why? Because that's what Trump wanted. Why did Trump want Zelensky to say the Ukraine is investigating Biden? Because he could use it to toss dirt on Biden.

Fair enough. I think it wasn't.

    What dirt was that?

No, that's my considered assessment of the situation. "Spin" is misrepresenting circumstances.

The redacted report was released several weeks later.

You don't want to name the dirt that's being investigated? It must be quite bad. Extortion? Nepotism? What do you think it might be?

Perhaps Giuliani was set to provide details on what they wanted on Biden. It's also possible Trump would have been satisfied with what he requested--an announcement Biden is being investigated.

No, not when in a short telephone call Trump returns to the same seemingly minor matter of investigating Biden again and again. He also pushed Zelensky to agree to work with Giuliani.

That's certainly your narrative. Too bad pushing a leader to combat corruption isn't illegal, isn't unethical and is in fact good.

Your narrative isn't persuasive when Trump spent so much effort in the phone conversation getting Zelensky to say the Ukraine is investigating Joe Biden.

Soon enough, we're going to hear what government officials close to the situation have to say about these matters.

Well, looking at the evidence, I think everyone can agree that the Biden case should certainly be investigated.

Have you ever listened to Trump talk?
Did you watch his announcement about killing the ISIS leader?
    The man repeats himself constantly.

I just reread the transcript , again. Same thing. He wasn't pressing he was just talking like Trump always talks..

There is nothing at all in the transcript..

That was a 5 minute call maximum.

Most of it was Trump congratulating Valinsky and him saying thank you.

"Evidence?" I don't think there's anything more than speculation based on Biden's kid's activities.

I assume the DoJ was investigating Biden already.

    Meaning what?
Reminds me a lot of Melania calling Trump's references to grabbing a woman's vagina as "Boy talk!"
There are repeated instances of Trump asking for the help of a foreign leader in the 2020 election.
Yes, and in that short conversation, Trump said:

"I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it. I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine, they say Crowdstrike... I guess you have one of your wealthy people... The server, they say Ukraine has it. There are a lot of things that went on, the whole situation. I think you're surrounding yourself with some of the same people. I would like to have the Attorney General call you or your people and I would like you to get to the bottom of it. As you saw yesterday, that whole nonsense ended with a very poor performance by a man named Robert Mueller, an incompetent performance, but they say a lot of it started with Ukraine. Whatever you can do, it's very important that you do it if that's possible."

    ----------

"Good because I heard you had a prosecutor who was very good and he was shut down and that's really unfair. A lot of people are talking about that, the way they shut your very good prosecutor down and you had some very bad people involved. Mr. Giuliani is a highly respected man. He was the mayor of New York City, a great mayor, and I would like him to call you. I will ask him to call you along with the Attorney General. Rudy very much knows what's happening and he is a very capable guy. If you could speak to him that would be great. The former ambassador from the United States, the woman, was bad news and the people she was dealing with in the Ukraine were bad news so I just want to let you know that. The other thing, There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it... It sounds horrible to me."

    ----------

"I will have Mr. Giuliani give you a call and I am also going to have Attorney General Barr call and we will get to the bottom of it. I'm sure you will figure it out. I heard the prosecutor was treated very badly and he was a very fair prosecutor so good luck with everything. Your economy is going to get better and better I predict. You have a lot of assets. It's a great country. I have many Ukrainian friends, their incredible people."

    ----------

"I will tell Rudy and Attorney General Barr to call. Thank you. Whenever you would like to come to the White House, feel free to call. Give us a date and we'll work that out. I look forward to seeing you."

I suspect we're going to find from government underlings that Trump was applying the screws behind the scenes.
Most of it was what I quoted above.

So you're convinced he got $160,000+ a month from The Ukraine and $1.5 billion from the Chinese because of his expertise in certain areas? No suspicions whatsoever?

Oh yes, he's being investigated and so is his son. But the left is trying to spin it as though Trump is trying to get rid of a political rival, and many seem to be willing to accept that.

Who got $1.5b? Anyway, as I said, I think the possibility of conflict makes it likely the DoJ was already looking at the situation.
You'll have to ask the "left" (whoever they are). Trump solicited the support of a foreign leader to get dirt on Joe Biden.

Zelensky didn't seem to be under any pressure. He's probably man enough to stand up to more pressure than you realize.

Well, then Bonespurs is exonerated again!

And I guess that it must be a wonderful thing for presidents to use their offices to try to get foreign help in elects\ions, and fantastic for them obstruct justice in multiple ways! Yay!!!!!

The founding fathers were seriously concerned about having foreign influences involved in our elections. Trump has openly invited both Russia & China to interfere in our elections, & has quietly done so with Ukraine--which is why we're having impeachment investigations ongoing now. You say Democrats fare trampling the Constitution, but the evidence shows Trump is doing that, & the Democrats are trying to protect the Constitution thru the only device the Constitution itself provides--impeachment. If you really cared about the Constitution, you'd be supporting the Democrats on this.

    1. As of today, with the release of the transcripts of the testimony of the State Dept & foreign service professionals, it is clear that Trump & his henchmen DID do something seriously wrong. They sidelined the entire professional State Dept in foreign affairs, & replaced them with Trump's personal henchmen, who ended up running the U.S. foreign policy strictly for the benefit & advancement of Trump personally rather than for the benefit &/or security of the U.S. as a nation. That's not only serious, that threatens the safety & security of the U.S. itself, just for the personal pleasure of Trump. Those transcripts should be enough to convince anyone who cares anything about the U.S. as a nation, that Trump is totally corrupt & unfit for his office, & MUST be removed ASAP.
    2. If Trump gets removed, the Republicans still control the Oval Office. They have Pence. True, Pence is a nutcase, but he's probably less dangerous to the country than Trump. Perhaps some better candidates could run for the Republican nomination once Trump is out of the picture. But getting Trump out is imperative.
