Condoms with holes provide some degree of protection. BTW the CDC claim is that masks prevent spreading. They don’t protect the wearer.

Our corrupt bipartisan ruling political class is counting on it.
King George also counted on that.

Actually what the research finds is that INCORRECT use of masks doesn't protect.

Which is like research finding that water is wet.

You'd have to be out of your mind to travel on an aircraft. Even a bus or train is dicey, but at least they have fresh air circulating.

Actually it requires masks because it's way more ****ing contagious than the flu.

The elephant in the room you folk continue to ignore.

Well that can effect it to but this was a clinical controlled study.

My auto fill and spell check substitute asymptotic for asymptomatic all the time.

Asymptotic is a good word though. It kind of describes our pursuit of knowledge on asymptomatic spread of influenza. We know it happens. Sometimes it happens a lot. But we can’t assign a specific value. H3N2 seems to spread more asymptomatically than other strains, but all seem to exhibit a lot of heterogeneity that we can’t account for in studies. So we keep getting closer to the answers, but we never seem to reach a full understanding intersection of reality and our knowledge of reality. Thus “asymptotic” is the perfect fit!

That’s what bothers me so much about Fauci who you brought up as well. He either doesn’t know epidemiology and virology (the specific things we are discussing here for example) or he doesn’t know how to apply it as a public health official to minimize deaths.

    The study cited...

    https://www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/M20-6817

    concluded:

"The recommendation to wear surgical masks to supplement other public health measures did not reduce the SARS-CoV-2 infection rate among wearers by more than 50% in a community with modest infection rates, some degree of social distancing, and uncommon general mask use. The data were compatible with lesser degrees of self-protection."

Not quite how you presented it.

Masks may provide limited protection for the wearer, but N95 respirators offer significant protection.

    Suggest you read the study.

    https://www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/M20-6817

It makes a case for wearing masks as opposed to wearing nothing.

Trade your mask for a good quality n95 respirator. Protect your eyes.

I noticed that, too. See Msg. #341.

It's going to dawn on a lot of ideologues that circulating virus is bad for business. Pols will shut down businesses, maybe even force people to stay home, rather than see hospitals overrun with COVID-19 patients.

They're better than people getting sick from COVID-19, perhaps sick enough to overwhelm our healthcare system. The virus put healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients at risk. How about doctors and nurses?
So, whenever you need fresh air, self-isolate.
Is it too much to ask you to wear a mask for the next few months?
    Egads.

Meaning that the desired results were bought and paid for prior to the study being taken and were predetermined.

Just as those paying for this study wished it to come out. Or as those with an agenda, you, wish it to come out.

It must have been nice if you once had control of your own brain instead of just repeating what your masters tell you.

Try reading for once "Her daughter, Carol Huben — a registered Republican, according to voting records — is listed as residing at the same address as her late mother."

    What?
The UK has a higher average lifespan than the US and it costs half as much for healthcare.
By what metric do you call it a failure?
It fails to result in bankruptcy or fear of debt resulting from medical care.
