My maskless face can only infect you if I am sick. Most of the people you pass on the street would be safe to hug. Don't try that though, might get your friendly butt kicked. I believe that social distancing is the most important precaution. Remember when it was distance, masks and gloves? How many people do you see wearing gloves these days. I don't even see the discarded ones on parking lots and streets. Science believes in overkill.

I remember when this first started and it was impossible to find either gloves or masks, not to mention toilet paper and paper towels. I have 4 adults in house so that tp problem kept me going out daily, no mask or gloves because they were backordered.

    I survived~~~~~~~~~ so far.

The Federalist printed a fake conclusion. Here is the actual conclusion:
"The recommendation to wear surgical masks to supplement other public health measures did not reduce the SARS-CoV-2 infection rate among wearers by more than 50% in a community with modest infection rates, some degree of social distancing, and uncommon general mask use. The data were compatible with lesser degrees of self-protection."

Notice the "by more than 50%" No one claimed they did reduce risk to the wearer by more than 50%! Their conclusion also States that masks do provide some self-protection (to a lesser degrees). And masks primary protect others, not mask wearers. How many times does this need to be stated

Another fake news thread from anti-maskers

Trump lovers seem to be incapable of understanding this. It seems to be impossible to convey even one simple fact to them.

How many people are you willing to kill just to play these games? Do you care that your nonsense posts could kill people? Does that have any effect on you at all? If you feel nothing, that is suggestive of psychopathy.

Masks do not prevent the spread of viruses. 14 clinical trials from 1946 to 2018 have confirmed this fact.
Fauci pointed this out early on before Political Science displaced science.

    “Abstract

There were 3 influenza pandemics in the 20th century, and there has been 1 so far in the 21st century. Local, national, and international health authorities regularly update their plans for mitigating the next influenza pandemic in light of the latest available evidence on the effectiveness of various control measures in reducing transmission. Here, we review the evidence base on the effectiveness of nonpharmaceutical personal protective measures and environmental hygiene measures in nonhealthcare settings and discuss their potential inclusion in pandemic plans. Although mechanistic studies support the potential effect of hand hygiene or face masks, evidence from 14 randomized controlled trials of these measures did not support a substantial effect on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza. We similarly found limited evidence on the effectiveness of improved hygiene and environmental cleaning. We identified several major knowledge gaps requiring further research, most fundamentally an improved characterization of the modes of person-to-person transmission.”

Fake Science has been a far more deadly killer during this pandemic than bullets.

"Doctors are still figuring out the best ways to care for patients with COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus.
Over the past few weeks, as the virus has spread in New York City, one hospital has started keeping patients off ventilators longer, hoping that they'll be able to recover faster than if they were intubated.
Others are trying tactics like placing patients on their stomachs to help their lungs better circulate oxygen."

"The Associated Press reported on Wednesday that New York City officials said 80% of patients on ventilators there had died."

The fact that masks do not reduce the spread of viruses has been known for over 75 years.
Now we are in the process of proving again what has already been proven - repeatedly.

    Fake Science Kills.

In fact, we are proving, again, that none of those measures are effective.
In fact they have been shown to increased the spread of this pandemic.

Again, "14 randomized controlled trials" have proven that masks cannot reduce the spread of viruses.
Now new studies are proving again what was already well known. They are also showing that the Fake Science used during this pandemic has accelerated the spread.

You aren't a scientist. You don't know what in the hell you are talking about.

I am a scientist and I am telling you that you need to stop this nonsense. It could kill someone.

People doing what you are going has killed tens of thousands of people. Just listen to the experts. <COMMENTS EDITED>

More ad hominem nonsense is not substantive rebuttal.

I rely on the experts. You seem to rely exclusively on Political Science.
Fake Science and political disinformation kills. Focus:

In fact, Trump supported wearing masks. Trump is not an "expert" - like you, and Fauci. ;-)

Did you miss the parts of the study discussion sections where the authors pointed out attributing too much value to mask usage can cause more transmission instead of less? Can’t you see the danger in that? It seems obvious in light of states and areas with mask mandates having massive transmission rates that too much emphasis on masks is actually detrimental.

Someone I know has just come down with the virus, after following every single protective theory and yelling at those who don't. Strangely, I haven't. I'm not saying anything. I figure he will come around to it.

That would never happen to me, as I've never become used to it. I whip that off the moment I come out of a store that requires them.

I would leave the room. Duh.

Fake Science kills. You should stop trying to suppress debate on this thread with all this ad hominem nonsense.

The fact that masks do not reduce the spread of viruses has been well documented for over 75 years.
Now, in order to overcome all this disinformation, Fake Science/Political Science we have to waste time and resources proving again what is already well known.

"The New England Journal of Medicine study results were that the virus still spread, though 90% of those who tested positive were asymptomatic. "Incredibly, 2% of the CHARM recruits still contracted the virus, even if all but one remained asymptomatic. 'Our study showed that in a group of predominantly young male military recruits, approximately 2% became positive for SARS-CoV-2, as determined by qPCR assay, during a 2-week, strictly enforced quarantine'.”

Comparing these results with the control group that was not tested and not isolated, nonparticipants actually contracted the virus at a slightly lower rate than those who were under an extreme regime.

Conversely, extreme enforcement of NPIs plus more frequent testing and isolation was associated with a greater degree of infection."
