In Rome, protesters are bombing banks.

Good post. The majority of people at OWS are just people who are being denied employment, denied living wages, losing their health care, seeing their pensions stolen, and being thrust into poverty by unregulated capitalism and they are mad and likely to stay that way until something gives.

A country with 50%+ poverty rate, and that is where we are headed, is a banana republic. A government which does not protect and provide for the reasonable needs of the majority of it's citizens is a goverment which needs to be replaced.

With the current corruption, it is highly unlikely that voting is going to solve this situation. I think the world wide movement, and OWS is part of that world wide movement, towards more equitable incomes in labor is going to keep gaining strength.

Violence is senseless. Bombing banks will only make the movement loss credibility.

I disagree. I won't say it's 100% appropriate but the United States itself was founded out of a revolution. There was the French revolution and the Irish revolution, as well as many others, even the Russian revolution.

When all other peaceful methods have been tried and fail, sometimes there is no other recourse.

John F. Kennedy said "Those that make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable."

    I think that is true.

Just a bunch of brain-dead cockroaches w/a very limited vocabulary and has nothing else to do....

I live 50 miles from Portland and it's a beautiful city, but I wouldn't live there if you paid me too.... it's become way to liberal and this is an example of it....

People are not being thrust into poverty by unregulated Capitalism. We are being made poor through a dissolution of our currency and Government intrusion into Capitalism.

Government intrusion into Capitalism is something entirely different: it's Cronyism.

Stop blaming the wrong thing. You're just a useful idiot until you realize the real problem here, regardless which other clueless people are attending these rallies.

You are entitled to your opinion. I don't think that some random poster calling me clueless invalidates my opinions, though.

To an extent, I agree that government intrusion damages free market in some ways. I also think corporate intrusion damages both the free market and democracy in more ways.

There are many variables, too many for a simple answer.

I agree with you that cronyism and corruption are huge problems we face right now. A culture of greed is another problem we face right now.

Capitalism in its purest form is the worst form you can have for an economy. You need a capitalist economy with SENSIBLE government regulation. The sensible parts is what we are missing.

A good example of this is the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act. This should have NEVER seen the light of day. This allowed Corporations like Citi to become 'too big to fail'.

Another was the Net capital rule in 2004. This allowed the Lehans, Goldmans, etc to leverage up 20, 30 and even 40 to 1, instead of the 12 to 1 it was.

Oh stop webrockk, you may give rstone a lesson here, and it is obvious he doesn't want to know who the real culprits are. I wonder if rstone can find all the bankers and wall streeters that have been arrested and prosecuted by the Obama administration? I would bet the number is zero. Solyndra alone says how much Obama has his hands massaging his buddies leg so they didn't lose a dime. They just got a half billion of hard earned tax payer dollars.

    Right as usual.

When the Flea Party starts protesting the White House who received the most money from Wall Street and has been in charge for the last 3 years then we'll start taking them more seriously than a corrupt anti capitalist anti freedom pro socialism cesspool of a movement.

    Politicians simply love blank checks.....

One of the dirty little secrets that helped seal the incestuous deal between the consortium of deep pocket bankers and Big Fed back in 1913, is the notion that a central bank....the FRB.... affords congress the ability to spend vast sums of public money with little accountability or transparency and no prior permission from the electorate....

And here we are, 98 years later...15 trillion in debt.
