OK how's this then: ANYONE who believes god created mankind rejects science in favor of a myth.

Science has never disproved anything in the Bible and it never will. The Bible is supreme truth and therefore is the standard by which scientific theory should be evaluated, not the other way around.

Here's a scientific theory that concurs with the Genesis story regarding "the beginning". It comes from physicist Albert Einstein's discovery of the theory of relativity. Albert's theory of relativity means that the universe had a beginning and was not eternal as he and many of his scientific collegues had previously believed.

Well, our Creator Almighty God told us several thousands of years ago that in the beginning He created the heavens and the earth. And it took science all this time when they recently not too long ago concurred that the universe had a beginning.

We Read in Scripture:

The Account of Creation

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.[a] Genesis 1:1 NLT

Footnotes
a. 1:1 Or In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, . . . Or When God began to create the heavens and the earth, . . .

Well now hold on a minute, here's the start of an article that comes from my favorite Christian Ministry regarding this intelligent design theory:

If anyone wants to read the entire article from my favorite Christian Ministry click on the link below, they answer the question, "What is the Intelligent Design Theory?" It's a very interesting well written article, it pretty much invalidates and squashes to shreds the theory of evolution.

Ok thanks Kode for your post, I will continue later on to respond to your last comment you had on this thread and so stay tuned.

"Supreme truth"? That's an opinion. Good luck proving it.

Here are a few problems with the bible:
• There's no evidence god exists.
• There was no worldwide flood. No boat could ever house two of every species. Two people could not keep up with the feeding of a boatload of animals.
• There has never been any evidence of a talking "serpent".
• The fruit of a tree cannot impart knowledge other than the taste of the fruit.
• The "circle of the earth"? If you stand on a hill and look around you it may look like the earth is a circle of land and water, but a sphere is not a circle.
• The bible doesn't mention dinosaurs.
• Only blind faith says the sun ever stood still.
• Science showed that the earth is much more than 6 "days" or 6 thousand years old.

Can you prove "he and many of his scientific colleagues" previously believed the universe was eternal and had no beginning?

I commented previously on "Intelligent Design". Science refutes it.

How many cases (actual number) are you talking about that science has crushed religious beliefs when the two conflicted with each other and give a few examples of those cases?

And how many cases are there where science did not crush religious beliefs when the two conflicted with each other and give a few examples of those cases?...that's ok no need to answer because I know, you know, we all know you have no data/statistics/cases to substantiate your generalized statement and even if you bring forth a few it can readily be debunked as far as the ones of the majority of cases.

Truth is you're always trying to sensationalize/exaggerate statements that are pretty much bogus, no doubt an attempt by you to discredit the religion but as usual to no avail.

But anyway, below is the definition of science as defined by the Merriam webster dictionary regarding the particular science we are talking about here:

First, I would like to point out by no means is the Christian religion anti-science. We accept the fact that science is a method to gain a greater understanding of the natural universe that we are all a part of. Science as we know is always searching for knowledge through observation. And yes, science is always advancing and relying on science to answer scientific questions is fine, but science cannot be treated as infallible, only our Creator Almighty God is infallible with that said, a Christian can have faith in God and respect for science as long as we remember which is perfect and which is not.

Science has its limits it cannot tell us how exactly the universe was created and why was the universe created. Science has acknowledged that the universe had a beginning. Physicist Albert Einstein after his acknowledgment, and upon confirming further research that showed the universe expanding just as his theory of relativity predicted, Einstein bowed to the fact that the universe is not eternal and said that he wanted “to know how God created the world.”

Science can do many great things; we can count on that, but we also can count on science making mistakes being that it's not infallible. If we put faith in science, we depend on limited, sinful, imperfect mortal men and women.

Our Creator Almighty God is never wrong, whereas science throughout history has been wrong about many things, for a few examples, vaccines, blood transfusions, shape of the earth, powered flight...etc. I'm sure more can be added to the list but the point being science is not infallible.

But still, I admit science is beneficial...good science that is. Learning more about the way our Creator Almighty God constructed our universe helps all of mankind appreciate the wonder of creation.

It's definitely a good thing when we expand our knowledge for it helps us to combat diseases by finding cures for them, it helps us to combat ignorance and misunderstandings.

But it is not good that scientists hold their faith in human logic above faith in our Creator Almighty God. They are no different from anyone devoted to a religion.
It's a fact that science can neither prove/disprove God nor the Bible as scientists readily admit this just as many of their favorite theories ultimately cannot be proved or disproved. Science is meant to be a truly neutral discipline, seeking only the truth, not furtherance of an agenda. As Christians we should embrace science that seeks the truth but reject the "priests of science" who put human knowledge above our Creator Almighty God.

Now I want to present these verses below which have been proved/verified by science to be true, which in itself pretty much validates the Bible as being the inspired Word of God. There are no conflicts here...Kode...but verifications from science.

We Read in Scripture:

22 God sits above the circle of the earth. The people below seem like grasshoppers to him! He spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes his tent from them. Isaiah 40:22 NLT

(Science has confirmed the shape of our planet as round. How could Isaiah who lived approx. 2700 years ago know this if not for God telling him this fact about the shape of our planet as being round.)

5 Food is grown on the earth above, but down below, the earth is melted as by fire. Job 28:5 NLT

(Our planet's core is hot and this verse 5 in Job 28 mentions it. Again, how could the author of the Book of Job have known this if not for God telling them about this fact approx. 4000 years ago or so.)

7 God stretches the northern sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing. Job 26:7 NLT

(Earth indeed floats in space. God told the author of the Book of Job this fact approx. 4000 years ago or so.)

7 Rivers run into the sea, but the sea is never full. Then the water returns again to the rivers and flows out again to the sea. Ecclesiastes 1:7 NLT

(Water changes state, the water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle, is a well-known phenomenon.)

6 The Lord’s home reaches up to the heavens, while its foundation is on the earth. He draws up water from the oceans and pours it down as rain on the land. The Lord is his name! Amos 9:6 NLT

(This verse in Amos also mentions water changes state.)

27 He draws up the water vapor and then distills it into rain. 28 The rain pours down from the clouds, and everyone benefits. Job 36:27-28 NLT

(These verses in Job also mentions water changes state.)

7 He causes the clouds to rise over the whole earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses. Psalm 135:7 NLT

(Another example here in Psalm 135:7 of water changes state.)

14 “Build a large boat[a] from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. 15 Make the boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. [c] 16 Leave an 18-inch opening[d] below the roof all the way around the boat. Put the door on the side, and build three decks inside the boat—lower, middle, and upper. Genesis 6:14-16 NLT

(According to geological evidence, the Great Flood of Noah might have actually happened. The ark would have worked, it turns out, the math is correct. According to calculations made by physics students at the University of Leicester in 2014, the ark would have actually floated and safely carried pairs of each animal species through the flood.)

22 And as the stars of the sky cannot be counted and the sand on the seashore cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who minister before me.” Jeremiah 33:22 NLT

(There are countless stars in the sky. Sure, we know that the universe has a lot of stars. And by a lot, we're talking about up to a trillion stars per galaxy. And it's estimated that there about 100 billion galaxies in the universe!)

41 The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind. And even the stars differ from each other in their glory. 1 Corinthians 15:41 NLT

(Not all stars are created equal. The stars' brightness or magnitude varies.)

Lord Savior Jesus Christ said,

35 Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear. Matthew 24:35 NLT

(Celestial bodies don't last forever We now know that stars and other astronomical bodies die. Science has confirmed this, but the Bible also mentions it as we note here in Matt. 24:35.)

3 By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen. Hebrews 11:3 NLT

(The universe is made of invisible particles. It sounds like the Bible is talking about atoms. Protons, neutrons, and electrons on their own are invisible to the naked eye. Atoms make up pretty much everything, including us.)

48 As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him. 49 Reaching into his shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground.

50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword. 51 Then David ran over and pulled Goliath’s sword from its sheath. David used it to kill him and cut off his head. 1 Samuel 17:48-51 NLT

(A small boy defeating a giant might sound unlikely, but the story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17 says otherwise. David could have actually defeated Goliath. A slingshot might not be the most powerful weapon, but the stones from Elah Valley were made of barium sulphate, which is extremely dense and these would have easily hurt Goliath. But there's more. Being a giant, Goliath likely suffered from acromegaly (overproduction of growth hormone). This can cause problems with vision, and peripheral vision can be limited, which would have been handy for David.)

6 You clothed the earth with floods of water, water that covered even the mountains. Psalm 104:6 NLT

(There are mountains underwater. These landforms are actually called seamounts and are mentioned in the Bible here in Psalm 104:6.)

11 for the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the Lord. [a] It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible. Leviticus 17:11 NLT

(Creatures can't live without blood. Most of us are familiar with the Adam and Eve story of the Bible. Humans have, in fact, a female biological ancestor called Mitochondrial Eve, which precedes our species (Homo sapiens). There is, however, one thing that connects all of us living creatures: blood.)

5 On the seventh day the priest will make another examination. If he finds the affected area has not changed and the problem has not spread on the skin, the priest will quarantine the person for seven more days. Leviticus 13:5 NLT

(Isolation contains diseases. While proper quarantines developed later in history, the Bible advised to isolate the affected person for 7 days and if the affected area has not changed to isolate/quarantine them for another 7 days.)

28 If you pick up its carcass, you must wash your clothes, and you will remain defiled until evening. These animals are unclean for you. Leviticus 11:28 NLT

(Sanitizing is really important. The pandemic has made us all pros in sanitizing our hands and clothes in order to avoid spreading germs, but the Bible mentioned its importance a long time ago as we note here in Leviticus 11:28. )

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 NLT

(Our brilliant scientist like physicist Albert Einstein theorized/concluded through his theory of relativity that the universe had a beginning and was not eternal as he had previously believed. His theory proved that the universe is not a cause, but instead one big effect—something brought it into existence. And of course, Christians like me believe it was Our Creator Almighty God who brought the universe and everything else that exists into existence.)

Oh, and besides all these verses I presented above let me not forget all the many archaeological artifacts that authenticates the credibility of the Bible. A simple Google search will bring up all these archaeological artifact findings. One I find particularly fascinating is the Hittite Monuments From Boghazkoy...Mementos of an Imperial People.

Ok thanks Kode for your post #3358 of which I have responded to all of your comments. It was a pleasure for me to respond to all of them again thanks for your post.

They reject science when it suits their purposes or conflicts with their beliefs, Mitt. I believe I have proven that time and again here on this very thread.

IOW the author described the Earth as a flat immovable disc, and described the universe as a dome shaped tent attached to to the circle of the horizon, and similar to a child's snow dome. And does not describe Earth as a rotating globe orbiting the sun.

But has anyone ever built a wooden boat which was 450 feet long?
The bible says that the flood which drowned most of Noah's family and their sheep and goats was only a local event since it was only 15 cubits high and drained away like every other similar flood before and since. And the bible says that Noah's brothers, Jubal and Jabal, were not drowned and were obviously living outside the flooded area, given that they are the fathers of all nomadic tent dwellers and musical instrument makers (Genesis 4:20-21).

And the universe is therefore billions of years old since there are about two trillion visible galaxies and the speed of light is ~300,000 km /sec.

And he also said that OT law still applies till heaven and earth pass when all is fulfilled (Matt 5:17-19), including the commanments to abort the pregnancies of adulteresses (Lev 20:10 Numbers 5:20-28).

1. How long did the creation of the earth take?

2. How was the moon created?

3. How and by whom were the creatures of the ark fed?

By the way, Einstein was not a believer in the bible nor of religion. His idea of god was not the Christian idea at all.

Now let's see you answer those three questions.

Yeah I hear ya Brother Todd! I know they reject the science of physicist Albert Einstein's theory of relativity.

I know they don't like it when Einstein was quoted saying he wanted “to know how God created the world.”

They also don't like what Lord Kelvin, a British scientist who once said, "If you study science deep enough and long enough, it will force you to believe in God."

I have Kode asking me, "Can you prove "he and many of his scientific colleagues" previously believed the universe was eternal and had no beginning?"

I'm pretty sure he can find out the answer himself if he does a little research on his own. I won't be surprised if he ask me can I prove what Einstein and Lord Kelvin are quoted saying...lol

Ok thanks Brother Todd for your post.

Hi Mitty! First time meeting the likes of you being a newbie that you are and right off the bat in my view judging from your post I can detect hostility/disparagement. Your choice of disparaging words, not correctly referencing Scripture as it relates to your post and lastly an obvious misconception of Almighty God coupled with a misinterpretation of Scripture are also noted.

And so as far as I'm concerned I have deemed your post incoherent. If you had asked your question in a more appropriate non-hostile friendlier manner I would be able to answer your question but such as it is I'm not able to at the moment. Perhaps if you would rewrite it in a more dignified coherent manner then I will be able to answer your question.

Ok here is where I usually say thanks for your post but under the current circumstances I'm not able to do that ...sorry Mitty the newbie.

Bunk. You're cherry-picking Einstein's comments OUT OF CONTEXT. And if you're going to pretend to quote someone you need to include A LINK, which you haven't done with that quote that may not be a quote.

So let's put this crap about Einstein to rest once and for all. Here is a typical statement about Einstein and god.....

"Albert Einstein did not believe in a personal God. And his famous quip that "God does not play dice with the universe" was a statement about quantum physics, not a statement of faith."

Other Einstein statements....
"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish."

"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly."

"I have repeatedly said that in my opinion the idea of a personal God is a childlike one. "

"It seems to me that the idea of a personal God is an anthropomorphic concept which I cannot take seriously. I feel also not able to imagine some will or goal outside the human sphere."

"I no longer believed in the known God of the Bible, but rather in the mysterious God expressed in nature."

"I do not believe in a God who maliciously or arbitrarily interferes in the personal affairs of mankind."

"
I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own — a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms."

"About God, I cannot accept any concept based on the authority of the Church. As long as I can remember, I have resented mass indoctrination. I do not believe in the fear of life, in the fear of death, in blind faith. I cannot prove to you that there is no personal God, but if I were to speak of him, I would be a liar. I do not believe in the God of theology who rewards good and punishes evil. My God created laws that take care of that. His universe is not ruled by wishful thinking, but by immutable laws."

"
During the youthful period of mankind's spiritual evolution human fantasy created gods in man's own image, who, by the operations of their will were supposed to determine, or at any rate to influence, the phenomenal world. Man sought to alter the disposition of these gods in his own favour by means of magic and prayer."

(The above quotes are from https://libquotes.com/albert-einstein/quotes/god.)

But that's what the bible says. That Abraham shared a non-kosher meal and had a face to face chat with a god about the number of righteous children in Gomorrah, and how the god then walked down to count them since it was neither an omniscient or omnipresent type of god (Gen 188). And that Abraham was commanded to butcher and cook his son as a sacrificial meal for that god even though the god subsequently ate an old ram instead (Genesis 22:1-19).

Oh it's a quote alright but just a partial quote I gave you and so no bunk here Kode but just plain ole truth. Let me give you some background info of the renowned brilliant physicist Albert Einstein.

Albert Einstein became a deeply religious man in his later years. This was all after his theory of relativity discovery that concluded the universe had a beginning.

Prior to this discovery Albert was shall we say a man who had a great disdain for religion and the following was one of his anti-religious quotes he made during his younger years again prior to his theory of relativity discovery:

Then in his later years right after his theory of relativity discovery when he realized the universe had a beginning one of the first quotes out of his mouth was:

Here is his "deeply religious man" quote:

A few more of his quotes after he became a deeply religious man:

Below are Einstein's Quotes on Spirituality. It's just a partial list and so if you want to see all 26 of his quotes click on the link below:

Ok thanks Kode for your post.

That's bullshit.

I gave you a sting of his quotes already. And even if he turned full evangelical it doesn't mean he knew something others don't because it's all faith, which means belief, which means no evidence.

No she didn't, there is nothing in the bible saying how long ago genesis was.

The first thing to recognize is that God is Spirit, He does not have a body, He is not a human being and therefore does not have gender in the technical sense.

At the same time, God is consistently referred to as our heavenly Father in Scripture, never as our heavenly Mother. So the use of any feminine pronoun to refer to God is not proper. God the Father and God the Son are both masculine titles, and the Holy Spirit is consistently referred to with masculine pronouns.

God has revealed Himself as male, and He is referred to by male pronouns throughout the Bible. To call God "Mother", "She" "Her", "It"... etc. is unbiblical.

We Read in Scripture:

24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 NLT

Lord Jesus said,

48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:48 ESV

It's rather obvious you have misinterpreted what I said...what else is new?...lol

First let me present my quote that you misinterpreted/misunderstood.

What I've said above is true. The Book of Genesis is believed to have been written by Moses between 1450-1410 B.C. So that's approx. between 3410-3450 yrs. ago.

So that's the time period when our Creator Almighty God had revealed to Moses that in the beginning He created the heavens and the earth.

So I wasn't at all saying what you incorrectly interpreted I was saying in that the heavens and the earth were created several thousands of years ago, so that's a misinterpretation by you.

Ok thanks Cybred for your post, I hope I have cleared your misconception/misinterpretation so that you fully understand now the errors of your post.

Yep, because it was men who wrote the bible.

Truth is science hasn't disproved that God created mankind, furthermore science will never ever be able to disprove it and that's the absolute truth.

OK how's this then: ANYONE who believes that science will be able to disprove God created mankind someday rejects absolute truth in favor of a myth.

And the bible says that mankind was created in the image and likeness of the male creator god when a group of gods and goddesses held a meeting. And presumably womankind was created in the image and likeness of one of the goddesses such as his wife, Asherah. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asherah
But when did that happen, given that our aborigines arrived here over 50,000 years ago?

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 18 describes how Abraham had a face to face discussion with a god and shared a meal together. Was that god one of the other gods described in Genesis 1:26-27 since he wasn't omniscient or omnipresent?

And his wife is Asherah. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asherah
And Exodus 20:3 describes the hierarchy of the gods who held a meeting about creating mankind and womankind (Genesis 1:26-27).
But why wasn't Abraham or his ancestors told this, and given that the ten commandments etc didn't apply to them either. Which is why it wasn't morally wrong for Abraham to have sex with his sister Sarah, or for Noah to have sex with his sister Naamah. Nor was it morally wrong for Cainan to kill his brother Abel (Genesis 4:15-16), or for Noah's father to kill a young bloke (Genesis 4:23-24)

If that is "the absolute truth" then it can be proven. So prove it. If you can't, it is as it looks: your opinion.

Remember Lucy?

upload_2024-5-20_19-58-23.png

Lucy's species remains a prime candidate for the ancestor of Homo.

The ancestry of humans has been traced back millions of years through fossil evidence and genetic studies. The earliest known human ancestors belong to the genus Homo, with Homo sapiens (modern humans) emerging around 300,000 years ago in Africa. However, our lineage stretches back even further, with ancestors such as Homo erectus, Homo habilis, Australopithecus, and others dating back several million years. Fossil discoveries and advances in genetic research continue to refine our understanding of human evolution and ancestry.

Also, the bible says God created the birds of the sky, but we now know from the fossil record that modern birds were dinosaurs.

Science proves the bible wrong.

Why do humans and chimps share over 96% of their DNA, including the same dysfunctional gene for vitamin C synthesis? And is that because they share a common ancestor, or did the creator god make the same mistake when humans and chimps were created?

These men were the human authors but above these human authors, the Holy Bible was written by our Creator Almighty God. Through a process called "inspiration" He inspired these men to write down what He wanted to reveal to mankind and so God superintended the human authors of the Bible so that, while using their own writing styles and personalities, they still recorded exactly what God intended. The Bible was not dictated by God, but it was perfectly guided and entirely inspired by Him.

We Read in Scripture:

20 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, 21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God. 2 Peter 1:20-21 NLT

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT

Ok thanks Cybred for your post.
