The Federation of State Medical Boards warned July 29 that physicians and other healthcare professionals could be at risk of losing their medical licenses if they spread COVID-19 vaccine misinformation on social media, online and in the media.

FSMB, a nonprofit that represents all U.S. state medical boards, said any clinicians who create or spread vaccine misinformation or disinformation risk disciplinary action by state medical boards, including suspension or revocation of their medical license, according to a statement emailed to Becker's Hospital Review.

"Due to their specialized knowledge and training, licensed physicians possess a high degree of public trust and therefore have a powerful platform in society, whether they recognize it or not," FSMB said. "They also have an ethical and professional responsibility to practice medicine in the best interests of their patients and must share information that is factual, scientifically grounded and consensus-driven for the betterment of public health."

Doctors DO have an ethical obligation but squashing opposition and alternate science is beyond reprehensible!

I find this to be EXTREMELY disturbing. This is nothing more than squashing decent through threats. Many doctors that specialize in these fields and have concerns are being threatened with losing their livelihood.... We are creeping up on an absolute totalitarian state and there are many people willing to go down this path... because their handler told them too..

Remember when the Democrats where the anti-vaxxers before Biden was president?!

I'm a huge fan of information. What one claims as misinformation is potentially valuable information by others. And why is it considered misinformation from one specialist and accurate information from another specialist?

If it’s accurate it’s not misinformation. Are you denying there is any vaccine misinformation out there?

    This sounds good:

physicians and other healthcare professionals could be at risk of losing their medical licenses if they spread COVID-19 vaccine misinformation on social media, online and in the media.

    ^A very sound policy.:flagus:

Then they can limit themselves to telling their patients. Problem solved. Why people have a need to broadcast crap on Twitter is beyond me.

We should start with Fauci then as he's has repetitively been caught in providing misinformation on countless occasions then.

That statement doesn't even make sense.
Give an example of what you could possibly be talking about.

So why do you assume this is what the op is referencing and not actual misinformation? Why didn’t Trump get hydrochloriquine?

Who are the misinformation police, Democrats and the left? Fact is, the Biden administration, the CDC, the MSM, and the left in general put out just as much misinformation as the other side does.

There's no such thing as "alternate science." There's either science or not science.

Sorry you're disturbed, but anti-vaccine lies do harm. It's unethical to lie about a vaccine.

Anti-vaxxers are a problem regardless of which party they belong to.

No, we are not creeping up on a totalitarian state because we voted out the wannabe dictator and validated the rule of law.

I am one that has stated over and over again that mRNA therapy is on the brink of revolutionizing the medical field. The problem is, the clinical trials we have had over the last 30+ years has plenty of mixed results with some patients, over time, have their immune system compromised. All I have advocated for is that we need more data. I've never advocated for any of those Alex Jones conspiracies, and you know that.

Fascism in power does not have to have a good memory. ;-)

“Biden Raises Fears Trump Will Rush Unsafe Vaccine For Political Gain

“So let me be clear, I trust vaccines. I trust the scientists. But I don’t trust Donald Trump — and the American people can’t either," Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said, charging President Donald Trump with politicizing the rapid COVID-19 vaccine development ahead of the November election.

The New York Times: Biden, Seizing On Worries Of A Rushed Vaccine, Warns Trump Can’t Be Trusted

With deaths from the coronavirus nearing 200,000 in the United States, Joseph R. Biden Jr. on Wednesday assailed President Trump for playing politics with a potential coronavirus vaccine, saying he did not trust Mr. Trump to determine when a vaccine was ready for Americans. “Let me be clear: I trust vaccines,” Mr. Biden said. “I trust scientists. But I don’t trust Donald Trump, and at this moment, the American people can’t either.” (Ember, 9/16)

The Washington Post: Biden Questions Whether A Vaccine Approved By Trump Would Be Safe

Joe Biden on Wednesday expressed reservations about whether a coronavirus vaccine approved by the Trump administration would be safe, raising doubts about the president’s ability to put the health of Americans before politics. Biden said Americans should trust a coronavirus vaccine developed under the Trump administration only if the president gives “honest answers” to questions about its safety, effectiveness and equitable distribution. “I trust vaccines. I trust scientists. But I don’t trust Donald Trump,” Biden said. “And at this point, the American people can’t, either.” (Sullivan, 9/16)”

Except it's not a fact. While both sides put out misinformation, you would be hard pressed to say it's just as much. And there's a difference between misinformation and differing opinions.

And while the vaccine development was swift, in the end, it proved safe via scientific trials. So it's fine to caution against a rushed, poorly done job, something Trump is excellent at. Just look at his career. But in the end, Biden got the vaccine in public, unlike Trump who did it in the shadows to both play it safe from disease AND save political face, because it was proven safe by the data. That's what's important.

LOL, you do realize that both Hydoxychloroquine and Ivermectin are FDA approved, right, and there are ample clinical trials that show it's effectiveness? But that's okay AJ... Just let your handlers tell you what you need to know.

Both are ineffective for treating COVID 19 based on the data. People with personal opinions claiming otherwise are in fact spreading misinformation.
