Sorry.. I loved your original post... I just instinctively laugh when anybody implies Trump ever had a working knowledge of the US Constitution.

Remember the Nunberg story about trying to get Trump a basic knowledge? Didn't go so well...

They’re not EOs. It’s three memorandums and one EO.

This stunt, as usual, wasn’t thought out.
The funding shift gambit for unemployment will run out in roughly two weeks.

The sooner we figure out the GOP has been and is our plague the better off we’ll be.

Our current environment—shitshow—is the logical conclusion of the GOP mentality.

    Buckle up!

Thank goodness, someone with common sense and reading comprehension:hug: I was getting a headache reading the hysterical reactions from people who don't understand what "deferred" means, or who think making 5 months of deferred payroll tax cuts permanent would somehow singlehandedly bankrupt SS.

That crazy b*tch is a plague on this country.

Any politicians that fight to stop Trump for giving Americans cash money during this health emergency will be attempting to commit political suicide.

I am with you - I hope they go for it. "Jump! Jump! Jump!" ;-)

Did you catch her yelling "NO!" at a reporter last week like 8 times?

She said it to Wallace also, and her voice is even more hoarse.

Maybe she's been yelling a lot recently..

It's because the strategy is to make the American people suffer. Their reasoning is if people are miserable they will blame it on Trump and vote for decomposing Joe.

I suspect they will for some of these.. and the polling will support it, as usual....

The D's have the popular support for most of what they do these days.

    Sure that burns you..

They presume their supporters have a Bidenesque level of comprehension. And Pelosi is just as bad and more vindictive.

BENEFITS, not REVENUE. And it's from automatic congressional authorization. It doesn't even require new funding authority, it's built into the non-discretionary side of the budget.

Now, back to my original question to you. Did you come up with this on your own, in which case, discussions such as this are a very good use of this forum, or did some Lying Fake News Twit feed this crap to you?

It's straight from the administration website. No news.

The funding for Social Security comes from 89% of the payroll taxes. That means if you cut it you lose it.

But you know what ? Trump should keep going with his promise to eliminate payroll taxes if He wins on November 3. Great way to piss off the older voter collecting or the soon to be collecting Social Security.

“In 2019, $944.5 billion (89 percent) of total Old-Age and Survivors Insurance and Disability Insurance income came from payroll taxes. The remainder was provided by interest earnings $80.8 billion (7.6 percent) and revenue from taxation of OASDI benefits $36.5 billion(3.4 percent).”

Only Congress has control of tax (deferred payroll tax), spending policy (unemployment benefits), and fiscal policy (student loans). The constitution doesn't give the president any of the powers to do what Trump's executive order did. Imagine if in the 2008 crisis that Obama used an executive order to order a 2 trillion dollar stimulus? What would be the reation from conservatives?

I think Trumps plan is to kill off all those older voters with the COVID so Social Security isn't a big issue in November.

    Seems to be working...

Puts democrats in the untenable position of going to court to block these measures their own voters desperately need and want.

Let’s see if these checks actually get deposited in anyone’s accounts? For one I doubt any state just throws in 100 because he said so,

No it doesn't. It just means funding from other taxes makes up a larger share of the benefit.
He can't without enabling legislation, which Pelosi will never give him. She hates the American People for not supporting her crazed antics. She isn't going to pass anything that lessens the burden of COVID on the American People.
