Pride Is Still a Sin and the Rainbow Still Belongs to God

We’re now two days into “Pride Month” and everywhere we look, we’re assaulted by rainbows and declarations of pride in homosexuality and various and sundry perversions. My inbox is full of press releases from woke companies and organizations signaling their virtue for the month of June, and my Facebook feed is full of them as well. (In one sense it’s a good thing because now I know which companies do not support values that encourage human flourishing.)

The worst announcements I’ve seen come courtesy of the Marine Corps and the State Department:

Does the Marine Corps stop every year to celebrate the contributions of Christians or Jews? How about homeschoolers? Or individuals on the autism spectrum? Why is homosexuality alone singled out by the most vaunted branch of the U.S. military? And why are they focused on woke left-wing virtue-signaling when they should be spending all their time figuring out how to defeat our enemies?

And check this out from the U.S. State Department, which desecrated its embassy to the Holy See with a flag celebrating something that the Roman Catholic Church considers “intrinsically disordered”:..

…Both pride and homosexuality are condemned by God as sins in the Bible. I know it’s not popular to say that these days, even in some conservative circles, but I’m not at liberty to disagree with God on what he calls sin. Supporting and celebrating sin isn’t loving—it’s actually cruel to tell people that they’re perfect the way they are when God says that “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick.”…

The Rainbow is the symbol of Gods promise to never again destroy the whole world with a flood. It should never be stolen to symbolize anything else. The author is also right that we should not celebrate or revel in sin. That the participants in one sin would celebrate their defiance of God with another sin God called out, pride.

Gays use the rainbow to celebrate acceptance. Fundies use it to celebrate their fantasy of the single greatest mass murder and infanticide event in history.

To me the rainbow signifies virtue and purity following a washing. It is an appropriate symbol for little children, not deviant adults. To have appropriated it, shows they have no regard for boundaries or honor for the truth. It is as absurd as seeing Mike Tyson in a tiny pink tutu.

A rainbow is just a phenomenon created by light interacting with water particles in the air. What makes you think that any religion or group has exclusive rights to its use?

Because God created it and set it up as His symbol for keeping His promise. Any other use of it is a sick perversion

The story itself is a sick perversion.

I can go out in my backyard and make one with a garden hose right now. Is that a sick perversion?

Edit: Side note, did it ever rain before the flood? If so there were probably a great number of rainbows before that one. Sounds like god stole it from nature.

No, it’s not. Satan would have won dominion over the earth had the flood not happened with 8 believers preserved.

Yes, it is. According to your religion, Satan ended up getting dominion over the earth anyway. Plus, that's a piss-poor reason for mass genocide and infanticide. "I had to drown hundreds of thousands of babies because otherwise Satan would have gotten them!" It's a pathetic as it is evil.

The people had 120 years to repent and change their ways to avoid that fate. It’s not like it was a big unexpected surprise. The same with Sodom and Gomorrah. The same with the various kingdoms in Canaan. All knew what God wanted of them. All rejected Him and continued in their abominations. All had their probation close. Nineveh on the other hand heeded the call to repentance and was given a reprieve. At the end of the world the people living then will be just like the people in Noah’s day and meet a similar fate.

Morale is the reason. Morale isn't high when you mistreat honorably serving soldiers. If it's okay to mistreat the gays, who next? Liberals? Women? Ethnic minorities? In the past, the military has forcibly discharged people when it was discovered they were gay, even if those who worked directly with them thought they were functioning well. The new generation of soldiers is more likely to accept their own or others homosexuality, so the expectation of such acceptance is increasing. The acceptance of christians and jews has not been in doubt, and so has a lower need for acknowledgement.

It is unsurprising that an institution based upon a dedication to bronze age and medieval morals is so morally backwards.

As for pride. They've been told to be ashamed to be gay in the past. They're pushing against it by saying actually they're proud of who they are, including being gay. I don't think it's the same kind of "pride" the bible refers to. Gay pride is more like being confident and secure in their genuine self - not feeling ashamed. Pride in the bible is more like being narcissistic.

The flood thing. You don't really believe that, do you? I have heard some say it's symbolic, much like other stories throughout the old testament, but to me it sounds like they're making excuses for things that don't make sense (morally, scientifically or historically).

True. It's like free speech. But it doesn't mean we can tell whoppers with impunity. In the sky, a rainbow is beautiful. For the adornment of little children, it is dear. But as a cover for sexually deviant adult behavior, it is a form of blasphemy. Otherwise, why invoke it.

The pride flag was adopted by the LGBTQ community as a reflection of the diversity of expression found in human sexuality, as well as the diversity of the community it self.

If the pride flag was adopted as some form of blasphemous display, why has it so drastically evolved away from a simple rainbow?

The original pride flag only used colors from the rainbow (fun fact: it also included pink which is not found in the rainbow.), it did not use the arch.

More recent versions of the pride flag aiming to represent increasing diversity of the community has further separated the flag from the rainbow. The faux outrage here just seems like people looking to be mad about nothing.

Here’s an article about the evolution of the pride flag if you’re interested.

As much as you can't stand the gays, they never use the rainbow flag to celebrate infanticide. But you do.

If your religion were true, the rainbow would recall the greatest instance of child abuse in human history. It's just the abuser promising he won't do it again.

Who said anything about religion. Like you would know or care anyway. At the most basic level, it's a matter of conscience. You don't need religion to know right from wrong.

There's no diversity. There's right and wrong. You don't shake it together and paint it with splendor of a rainbow as if it's all the same. The so called "evolution" of their flag is a perversion of the rainbow. They pervert themselves, marriage, the rainbow, reason, society, you name it. All to avoid the fact that their behavior is deviant and unconscionable. And they have fully vacated any claim to the right of privacy, to suggest I hide my life in the closet in deference to their shameless pride.
