I had a conversation on this a few days ago, with a fellow brain observer. Whilst it may be a reality, it's one we can't afford to make a space for. Almost all of these individuals will have underlying mental health issues - whether diagnosed or not - and these are often exacerbated in times of stress. Nothing anyone can do about it. It's not 'important' enough to disrupt the strong advantage we have.

But to balance that picture, there are early indications that there is a significant improvement in mental health in those without mental illnesses. That's a very good thing, and will pay dividends for many years in reduced pathologies, better parenting, less addiction, less divorce, etc etc. Anecdotal reporting suggests it's the increased time to build relationships, less general daily stress, limitations to destructive habits, etc. Some people are even reporting finding deep happiness for the first time .. having been previously unaware that what they really needed was a quiet life, not the hustle and bustle of a big city career and social life.

America, generally. You guys are far too 'generous' with immigration.

We've got cabin fever. The waterways are one of the few things not closed up and water temps have just gone over 70 where you have a shot against hypothermia if you get yourself in that pinch. We're going on the water so as not to go crazy.

Can we go lower than F ?

Why ? As usual, Dirty Donnie makes decisions based on how it will benefit him personally.

    His own words:

    Jan. 22
“We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”
    Feb. 10
“Looks like by April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away.”
    Feb. 24
“The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. … Stock Market starting to look very good to me!” (fell from 28.8 to 27.9 )

Good choice. Hopefully it doesn't involve driving/buying fuel etc.

With respect, that's what's causing the terrible infection rate and mortality in America. Non-essential travel should not be happening, unless on foot (ie, going for a walk from your house). Every time you engage in non-essential travel you're doing things like buying fuel (gas stations are a notable source of community transmission), stopping for coffee/snacks etc. If you're an asymptomatic carrier, that means you're spreading the virus everywhere you go. You're also risking your own health, by going to gas stations and stores etc. I would advise strongly against doing things like what you're planning. Go for a walk around your neighbourhood, instead. Or do some gardening, or build something, or do star jumps in the living room. We just can't keep indulging our urges to go out.

I laid in four months of provisions and supplies starting back in January; we're close to running out of all grocery store food and soon going on those survival provisions (eat to live, not to enjoy). I have 60 gallons of gasoline on hand in my shop. I'm worried about the SUV breaking down from sitting. It's five miles to good water. We're going. We'll pack our picnic and a single burner stove. We won't be needing gas or snacks or make any stops. Gas is dirt cheap, but there's almost no place to go.

I give him a D but this is only for the first quarter. His grade can go up or down.

That’s mainly our leftist politicians. They want to eliminate borders.

They’d love to have half of the third world here.

Was spring break happening in Florida Trump's fault or the governor of Florida? You've been very loud in your view that states choices are up the governor and not Trump yet here you are blaming Trump for something that happened in Florida.

In order to sincerely assess this topic, one needs to be able to separate out their support or hatred for the President. In order to do that, one needs to look at objective measures.

The one true objective measure of our response to the virus will end up being the deaths per capita as compared to all other western industrialized nations. The reason that you need to look at deaths per capita is that you cannot credibly compare raw numbers between a country of 5 million versus a country of 300 million. The deaths per capita numbers are obviously not yet completed, but by all accounts, with current projections, we are performing quite well on that front. Obviously things can change, so in order to have a definitive answer we will need to revisit this objective measure to ultimately determine the effectiveness of our response.

If you think that there is a different measure that you feel is the most objective, I invite you or anyone else to state what it is and why you think it is a better outcome assessment. I will be more than happy to defend the measure that I have identified.

But no wait, the social distancing and shutting down of economy was up to the state governors. That has been made more than clear on this forum by lefties.

Interesting that you would use the term bs followed by bs. There was conflicting information from many sources. You should have known how to avoid a virus long before he became president. You have been bashing the orange man long before Covid19, yet you waited for him to tell you what to do! What does that say about you?

Still waiting for Trump to use the Defense Production Act to order manufacturers to make more testing kits and send them to the states that need them the most.

Trump is still dragging his feet. :(

You get me. I don't trust any politician. I don't care if there is a D or an R by their name, your well being is not their priority and their power should be limited to an absolute minimum.

In the meantime, reflecting how people are voting through their partisan lenses only, the grades with the most votes so far are either A (which I don't think stands for awful) or, alternatively, F (which, while closer to the grade I would give, neglects more than a few right things the Trump administration has done).

For your sake, I'm really glad you weren't around in 1941

What in the bloody hell are you even talking about. Now sparing Trump's ego demands that I'm supposed to never leave my house for the rest of my life because I'm "murican" and don't rely on anyone for anything? This isn't a small cold where I can just take an umbrella if it's raining, wear a coat and drink my oj every morning, nor is it the flu, where I'm vaccinated. This is a quite often fatal and extremely contagious pandemic that has infected millions and killed thousands. Are you saying that all the dead could have easily saved their own lives and so can we? Please, tell us how

Im not sure a 3.4% mortality rate can be considered "quite often fatal" Since you were around in 1941, saying home is wise. OJ may be a little high on the glycemic index for someone your age, but Im sure you have it under control.

I have never seen or heard a single Trump speech tweet, or briefing and I go to work every day not worried about the virus. I hope you and your loved ones stay safe.

I wasn't around in 1941 either. My father was and he went to war, which he survived as did the USA.

Corvid 19 is a good deal more deadly than the flu and most doctors will tell you that you are indeed risking your life if you don't get vaccinated against the flu

My question remains, what could I or you or anyone reasonably do entirely on our own that would enable them to escape Corvid 19. If you can't answer that I expect an apology on your part to all the thousands dead you have maligned, but I don't really think one will be forthcoming

Intentionally taking my post as an insult to the dead is unreasonable. I am not going to apologize for your imagination. Those at risk should stay home and avoid contact. I do not get the flu vaccine and I don't get sick. I am at work every day providing essential services to the elderly. I don't need Trump to tell me how to avoid a virus.

Your father was a part of a great generation.
