The Greatest some say. Thank you

Why are you defending a man whose willful neglect and incompetence places your life and that of those you care for at considerable risk?

I have done the opposite of defending him. I am not waiting for him to tell me how to avoid a virus. Those calling him a liar seem to be waiting for him to direct them. That makes no sense. As bad as he is, the opposition just keeps making him the voice of reason by comparison.

With this kind of argument one can justify all the excesses of a President.

Trump wants to suspend Congress to give himself full power.

    That's unprecedented.

You're obviously okay with that since he'll be a much better dictator than Biden...

If you stop claiming to be a mind reader and ask me, I will tell you. My opinion is the exact opposite. I believe that government power should be reduced to an absolute minimum. Those cheering for Obamacare, high taxes and gun control, should just do what Trump tells them to do. The government knows what's best, right?

I love how the same people that pushed big government are now seeing the error of their ways!

    F. This guy is a disaster. He has no plan. He has packed his administration with yes men. He personally spends two hours a day talking to the press. He clearly failed to demand a plan from the Pentagon and it obviously didn’t occur to his boy Esper to put one together. He still doesn’t have a NavSec because he chose to insert himself into internal discipline issues that he seems to think he understands because he graduated high school from a military academy. He can’t find anyone to be his Chief of Staff.

Lots of talk in this thread about lefties waiting to be told what to do by him. His entire administration is waiting to be told what to do by him. And he has no plan and lacks the cabinet level expertise to develop one.

It's not me that I worry about it's the scores of low iq adoring fans. Those people take what he says seriously which is dangerous. Trump gets an F.

That's not right. One can get some things correct and still fail. trump has failed. Bigly. Of course, NO ONE ever accused trump of being a leader. No one.

IQ is no longer an accepted measure of intelligence, so those using "low IQ" as a put down are only calling the kettle black.

Ooooh ya got me. Seriously though, it's the STUPID trump adorers (not all trump apologists mind you - just the dumb ones) that are the problem vis a vis trump refusal (until mid freaking March) to stop downplaying the risk. Sure, there was ample information to come to the conclusion that cv-19 was a grave danger but too many thought trump was a better source. Result is undeniably more deaths.

I feel the same way about anyone who supports a party. On the Covid19 issue, while he is awful with words, he emerged as the voice of reason by comparison. Whooda thunk!

With respect - 'not worrying' about this virus and/or refusing to alter your behaviour in response, is incredibly problematic. You're basically saying you refuse to join the fight.

Having never seen or heard anything the man has ever communicated, I am curious how you could possibly have any basis to reach the conclusion that he offers the voice of reason.

    This forum!

It would take me hours to watch/listen to all the rhetoric when I can come here and see why everyone is mad in just a few minutes.

So does he get a D for shutting down the economy so thousands would commit suicide and doom his chances for re election?? Of course against the wishes of the left, he's starting it up again and making America, once again, GREAT!

The actions precipitated by 'worrying' are very useful in a crisis.

To pick up where we left off...
That's far too simplistic a measure. You would need to take into account things like population density, the prevalence of elderly people in the population and how many elderly people live with other generations under the same roof compared to living alone. I could go on but I think you get the point.

So after our conversation was over you went back and found this post so that you could restart the exact same conversation? Yeesh.

Look, you are one of those people that will hear an analogy, and then after pointing out some difference in the two things being analogized, you will then claim that they are therefore not analogous. An analogy is centered on the concept of what it similar versus what is obviously different. If there are not any differences, it would therefore not be an analogy at all. Someone like yourself is never going to understand that.

You do know that it is possible to compare and rank two different college football teams near the end of the season from two different conferences that have never played each other right? That is not to say that college football rankings are infallible, but they are a useful and mostly correct means of comparing two different football teams that have played entirely different schedules and thus have almost limitless variables involved in the comparison. Despite these almost limitless variables, rankins are mostly correct. That is not to say that whomever is ranked number 1 is therefore going to be National Champion, but they are overwhelmingly likely not going to end up as the 20th best team. In that sense, the rankings ,despite countless variables, are mostly correct, and they are definitely correct in a generalized sense.

At any rate, I already told you that I do not care enough to spend time arguing about this. Why are you trying so hard to keep pushing and resurrecting this topic? Most people assess effectiveness by looking at results. A great many look solely at the raw number of cases without taking into account population. Some people look at the raw number of deaths without taking into account population. I say that in order to be more accurate you need to figure in deaths per capita because that takes into account population and it eliminates the differences in testing that a cases only analysis would provide. You apparently believe that no comparison along objective measures are going to apply. Good for you. I truthfully do not care. I truthfully think that your position is silly, but that is not for me to decide. Every reader can decide for themselves. We have both had our say. Let the reader decide and please stop beating this dead horse.

You are incorrect. While worry can only exist inside ones mind, actions can exist without worry. While I have not worried for a moment, half my employees are working from home, those in the office are far apart and are wearing protective gear. After work, I deliver needed supplies to high risk people so they can stay safe at home. I suppose I could curl up in a ball and shiver, but what good would that do?

Worry is not useful. Those not consumed by worry only have to die once.
