The Wall Street Journal published a report Tuesday highlighting the economic gains red states have made in the post-pandemic economy. The piece, written by Josh Mitchell, listed Florida, Texas, and North Carolina as the three states that benefited most from people’s migration away from New York and California, toward the south and middle of the country.

"The pandemic has changed the geography of the American economy," Mitchell wrote. "By many measures, red states—those that lean Republican—have recovered faster economically than Democratic-leaning blue ones, with workers and employers moving from the coasts to the middle of the country and Florida," he continued. ..

…Mitchell pointed to a Brookings Institution study which showed that red states have added 341,000 jobs since February 2020. "Since February 2020, the month before the pandemic began, the share of all U.S. jobs located in red states has grown by more than half a percentage point, according to an analysis of Labor Department data by the Brookings Institution think tank," he wrote.

"Red states have added 341,000 jobs over that time, while blue states were still short 1.3 million jobs as of May."

Mitchell cited several high-profile companies, including Citadel and Caterpillar, as organizations moving from blue to red states.

He also pointed to a Moody analysis which revealed a trend of workers moving to red states, noting that "Remote work allowed many workers to move to red states, not because of political preferences, but for financial and lifestyle reasons—cheaper housing, better weather, less traffic and lower taxes."

Notably, financial, lifestyle, and tax differences across the states have a lot to do with politics. …

his report on economic findings is very interesting. Red states now have more jobs than pre pandemic Higgs while blue states are still over one million fewer jobs than then. People are moving from blue to red for jobs, lower taxes, less expensive housing, and lifestyle changes.

This Fox News report on the WAJ and others findings shows that companies too are making the move from blue to red. Biden is trying to crash the total economy Hoping for an economic reset that will favor the blue and return the red to their Obama era vassal state conditions

That’s because all of the big businesses are moving out of anti business blue states. Democrats demonize business and business owners. This will continue to happen for some time.

They say every good vibrant economic revival is lead by the Mortuary and Funeral industries and they could not have been better prepared than in Florida and Texas. And when you lose most of your less productive citizens - the aged, sick and disabled, you are in an even stronger position! Its a natural purge of unproductive dead weight in the economy. Now you are in perfect fighting trim!

Just remember, Democrats in CA threatened business owners and anyone refusing to wear a mask in public. According to Newsom, that's freedom, freer than FL.

Fantastic news from the OP, finally!

I for one can't wait for all the libs to move to these red States and turn them blue. Once the GOP loses just one of these States, they will be dead on arrival.

Really? Florida and Texas well protected their elderly population. None of the red states lost old people the way New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey did. Next rationalization/excuse?

    yup

I watched a once great state, NH turn Democrat when all of the folks from Mass moved to escape Democrat politics and high taxes. But, they kept voting Democrat.

    The ultimate definition of crazy.

True. That all happened. Especially in big coastal urban areas. In the outlying red rural areas we largely ignored or disregarded such rules and the pandemic prevented moving urban enforcement out to the rural areas. In red California we pretty much mimic red state economic results.

I suspect they didn't see it that way... Mass is crowded... NH is less crowded....

But I like the way your mind is thinking this AM... Share the Blue nationwide!!

Actually it’s mostly already red people moving but since the pandemic the people now know why they moved and are turning red themselves to preserve their new opportunities.

They earn their money in a blue city and then spend it and pay taxes in a red place, while having a better pace of life, nice parks and schools for their kids. I live in an outlying red area of a blue state and we openly recruit those who are able to work remotely to move here.

I nominate this post for the divisive post of the day! I think Ego is trending towards a record of most divisive, stereotyping posts ever on PF. Dance far left puppet dance, is what I think of reading your posts. Oh and ofcourse Red states are doing better, they were intelligent enough to open when Fauci was promising the next and next wave that ended up resulting in a trickle.

This is my favorite line of your quote as to why people are moving:
not because of political preferences, but for financial and lifestyle reasons—cheaper housing, better weather, less traffic and lower taxes.

Guess how all of those blue residents will vote in these three very important battleground states?

What does the EC look like if y’all lose these three states?

That’s a good point actually. Short term this could be a positive thing for Dems. Long term however, it will crush Dems. People are slow to realize exactly why they are running away from blue states.

And I’m all about long term cultural victories, which looks really red right now.

but for now Dems have this in their favor. Do so poorly at leading that people run away from thier areas, but so well at spreading hate people still vote for them lol.

You can. Otherwise people wouldn’t be flocking there. Housing costs and overall cost of living is less in most red places. They often have cost of living adjusted lower poverty rates than big blue areas.
