You must understand why Ukraine would not want to be Russian territory again after the last 100 year history I hope. After mass starvation called The Holodomorin the 1930’s. Then there was the great purge that included the murder of many Ukrainians in the late 1930’s (both committed by Stalin).

Then in 1941 Germans came in and took control of much of Ukraine where many considered the Germans liberators after the hell of the last decade given to them by Stalins Russia. To be honest who can blame them for feeling this way after millions were killed by Russian authority in the previous decade.

Then there was Chernobyl that the Russians initially tried to cover up.

Then in 1991 they finally gain their independence. And in 1994 they gave up their nukes in a deal with Russia and the United States in exchange for Russia respecting their borders and a promise not to invade and to even provide assistance if a nuclear power were to attack them, among other things. Just another example of never to give up arms, ever!

I think it’s pretty obvious why Ukrainians have reasons to fight for their sovereignty over this country that has murdered and lied to them hand over fist in the past. If I were them I wouldn’t trust them either.

 

I am Russian, you could have guessed it by my name. The Tatars have completely different names: Aidar, Tagir, Renat, Farid, Ildar and the like.

All my ancestors were Russian, and I know my ancestors until the end of the 19th century. The very first of the great-grandfathers I know was still a serf.

I have an interesting pedigree, on my father's side all my ancestors were peasants, and on my mother's side there were nobles. It is possible that I have more relatives in the USA than in Russia, because when the revolution of 1917 took place, my great-great-grandfather's sons (there were five or six of them) emigrated to America because they were nobles and feared for their lives. There is only one brother left - my great-grandfather.

 

Russian strategy has degenerated to a war of attrition. Success of such a strategy is very much in doubt.
