Is there anything more dangerous than a person who knows weaponry and has a nefarious intent? Surely a person with nefarious intent, that doesn't have the skill to kill, is dangerous, but less likely to succeed in his endeavors than one practiced in mayhem. Luckily, none of you experts are whacko.

I think I can do the same with the stripper clips. But it takes a little practice. There were a lot of them laying around in Nam and almost an inexhaustible supply of 7.62x39. IMO, this is not a high powered rifle but a carbine using intermediate powered ammo.

Thanks!... I pride myself in teaching gun safety to my grand children and great grand kids. I also train them with their parents permission on how to shoot. I've got my own range and I still shoot at least once a week, both pistol and rifle.

Since Progressive Socialist Marxists are ideological in step with Russia, China, No. Korea, I guess all they have to do is ask. Remember Obama told Putin he'd have more flexibility after the 2012 presidential election. Surely he has more today. Someone could give him or any ranking PSM a tactical or even a suit case nuke to further their goals of total takeover of the US.

Can't stop gun sales the world over, and until someone commits crimes, etc or is designed a mental health risk, there's no reason to keep a person from purchasing a gun. Basically without proven intent(or figuring out said intent), this is always going to be a dilemma and no amount of legislation can change that.

Funny but since the terrorist attacks in the UK, France and Geremany the black market has been inundated with orders for personal small arms. They are looks for small stuff like 22's, 25's and 32's these are the popular ones although 9mm's. South America is supplying a lot of them. I know this because my in laws in Romford and those in Swindon have been making inquiries.

Tighter gun control so the shooter couldn't buy a gun at all

I asked for specifics and you give me a generality. What specific law needs to be tightened that would have prevented this shooting? Did the shooter have a criminal history that would have made him ineligible to purchase a firearm? If not then what law needs to be tightened that would have prevented the shooting?

He cant give specifics because he's an illiberal left wing looneytune anti gun nutjob.
He believes banning all guns will magically stop humans from killing one another or having mental break downs.

He does not understand reality, humanity, or history, he is an illiberal.

You are free to live your life on 'if' but I'd rather be armed when some nutjob tries to shoot me with an ILLEGAL gun.

The second amendment revoked and guns only provisioned to licensed officers of the law.

Revocation is not a tightening of a law it is the elimination of a law. As for you proposal, good luck with that.

Well you asked what specific changes could have prevented it, so there's your answer.
As for the practicality of such a change, that's another question.
It might be possible to do without a revocation of 2A if the Miller interpretation is reinstated. Then the US government could withdraw Fed funding for states where gun possession was not restricted to people properly vetted for militia service...

Unsure what your point is. Something about islamics since they are the ones that strap bombs to children?? Not sure what that has to do with this though.

Who is going to confiscate the thousands of guns currently owned? How is that going to work?

It would be naive to think that abolishing the 2A would end gun violence and by extension would have prevented the recent shooting.

Indeed thus placing into question the effectiveness of such a proposed solution.

Perhaps, but outside the scope of my knowledge.

Do you not realize that guns saved certain death for those congressmen and staffers? If Scalise had not been there, they would have been sitting ducks there in Virginia. The capital police were only there because he is the majority whip. It took almost 10 minutes for the cops to arrive. The capital police that were there, had little chance at stopping a guy across a field, who has a rifle compared to their pistols. What they accomplished with what they had, was quite remarkable actually. They fought back just enough for everyone to take cover.

If this shooting had happened in Texas, it would have been over in seconds, due to the conceal carry rate there.

Firstly, there is no perp until he has shot first. Secondly as soon as a shot is fired everyone who's armed pulls a gun so how do you identify the perp?

Same as other places that have shut-down general gun ownership due to the number of reckless and incompetent users.
