As a person in a biracial family - black and white - this entire “safe spaces” issue is stupid. We live in the South, and haven’t had any issues except when one of the kids picked up some BLM propaganda from the Disney channel and saw racism were there was none. People are taught to be racist, and to be victims. But not here, we don’t buy the CRT and BLM propaganda. We get along with people, we don’t hide in safe spaces and pretend to be wimps.
It sickens me when people pretend to be offended on behalf of others for social credit points. And I would say that's about half of the current "anti-racist" brigade. It doesn't help racial harmony. It doesnt combat racism. It encourages it.
But if you mention the historical fact that the seceding states seceded, first and foremost, over slavery, it gets labelled as CRT and historically illiterate rightwing extremists start screaming nonsense at PTA meetings and try to get you fired.
How many times did that actually happen? I'll bet far fewer than teachers shaming white kids for being white or telling black ones everything bad that happened to them was because white kids had "privilege". Is the fact whites fought the war to free slaves even mentioned any more?
It happened at my sister's PTA meeting, and similar examples are happening all over the country. Mention race at all in a conservative town and you'll have people labelling it CRT. And where is that happening? Eh, also historically inaccurate. Maybe towards the end of the war you can argue that, but that wasn't the primary motivation of the North at the beginning. The goal was to preserve the Union. The North didn't start off on a crusade to end slavery, but the South started off on a crusade to preserve it. You will, however, find several classes that still teach the North entered the war to end slavery.
