Proper planning includes expecting bad luck.
    Insurance.
The very, very few who truly cannot avoid ending up dependent we need to take care of.

That should not include those who should take care of their needs but out of ignorance, laziness, whatever, don't.

And you like others compare SS with an investment. Of course you can “ play” the market and end up with more money. But it’s seldom when you want it and in sufficient quantity before you retire to insure you, your spouse and dependents before and then after. . SS is a retirement and DISABILITY insurance for your ENTIRE life .

The return in a privatized investment can’t touch the return from this insurance if you don’t remain healthy your entire working life. It’s not a replacement. I don’t and should not compare the two. Your situation determines which will yield the best RETURN. . It’s better than any other insurance plan from a private insurance company…..that’s what you compare it to.

    Sorry, your timeline is bad

    Dec 16, 2008 DUBYA
"I've abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system"

The subprime mortgage crisis, a major financial crisis that occurred between 2007 and 2010, stemmed from widespread defaults on risky mortgages (subprime mortgages) issued to borrowers with poor credit, leading to a housing market collapse and a global economic recession.

The Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission (FCIC), established to investigate the 2007-2008 financial crisis, found that the crisis stemmed from a combination of factors, including widespread failures in financial regulation, breakdowns in corporate governance, and excessive borrowing and risk-taking. The period from 2004 to 2007 saw a boom in subprime mortgages, fueled by lax lending standards and a housing bubble, which ultimately led to the crisis.

That’s not true….We all have story’s of people in the previous generation who depended upon a retirement fund with no SS. Their corporation went under and they went into poverty. SS changed all that. Using the market only is a fking crap shoot. Having both market based and SS is a firm strategy to enter retirement.

I don’t think I’m claiming to. I’m just reminding everyone that SS is an insurance program , not an investment plan.

You can still do that, SS was created BECAUSE seniors were living in extreme poverty, malnourished, some dying of starvation and exposure as well as high suicide rates

    POOR HOUSES

Poorhouses existed for those with no other options--Conditions were bad, the food was minimal, work was required--They separated families, they broke spirits, they were meant to be unpleasant--This kept people from wanting to go there.

Right now 1/2 of all American’s have no savings.

SS IS SIMPLY FORCED INSURANCE, IF YOU WORK!

You'd rather trust the liars without fact checks.
Why can't the right ever, and I do mean that they never, correct an incorrect fact check?

Not many understand that we take care of our selves in our younger years to prepare for old age, both physically and financially.

A relative retired in his forties never collected SS or Medicare and never worked again for 50 years till he passed this past year. Of course, he retired as a Colonel and fought in three wars. So there are ways.

Well, as you know there are some occupations you can choose to enroll in SS or not. And like many, you can do both.

Nah…of all the liberals I know, I’m probably the least “smart”. But. Compared to a lot of republicans who follow the wizard regardless of what lie he’s promoting today, I’m sure I appear much smarter than I actually am.

This is what happened in Congressional Elections of 1928, 1930, and 1932. Republicans went from 270 House seats in 1928 to 218 in 1930 and then only 117 in 1932. Charity was private in those days and it was overwhelmed with need.

Republicans seem well-positioned to do it again. They're going to screw up the economy with tariff wars at a time when workers are vulnerable.

The satisfaction levels with the Democrats are the lowest that have been recorded by a cnn poll.

There is a new game in town. It’s the internet where everyone gets their propaganda and the story line changes with the need. We have a completely distorted ground of adversaries all group together as a party. Who would have thought that Nazi interest would align with born again Christian’s….Trump owns the republicans. A free and fair election is not to their advantage and they’ll try to avoid it at all costs. Be ready for anything in the midterms.

And if the fact checkers are the one\s lying? We live sir in a post truth society and your party caused that. With the democratic the only thing that matters is the narrative.

    You can't be serious!

Trump drew a childish extension on a weather map so it would agree with HIS narrative instead of the one put out by the people whose job it is to create weather maps!

And you want to actually accuse DEMOCRATS of being the ones who want to create a "narrative"????

That's a joke son. You want to see a narrative that is actually damaging Go to the BLM riots where in it became clear early on that the only black lives that mattered to them were those of the felons praying on black folks. It surely wasn't black small business folks those whose businesses were burned and looted by those damnable rioters based on a completely false narrative.

Then show them wrong! This is not rocket science, show one time they were wrong. Otherwise I have to assume you are bought and paid or just ignorant.
