Which covered up a despicable act which, on the back of the Access Hollywood Tape, could have turned the election. Which have meant Hillary would have won, we wouldn't have a conservative court, we wouldn't have killed Roe, nor would politics be corrupted with dark money, and the voting rights act gutted, which resulted in more Republicans maintaining power, more gerrymandering, 1/6 wouldn't have happened, and at least a few who died would still be alive, and the hundreds jailed would not be in jail and most importantly, the most destructive force in decades, the MAGA movement, would have lost their momentum and faded back to where they were, before Trump and the GOP would probably still be what it once was, a conservative party, where life once was, divided but not as polarized as they are today.

Cheating for power isn't democracy. Cheating to destroy democracy, now that's a real crime.

No misdemeanor could ever do that.

    I say lock him up.

    About your sig:

"... when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government"

I'm wondering what your point is for putting it in your sig?

As long as there are evidence of crimes, putting criminals in jail, not only is a good thing, a number of western developed countries have done it. The point being, doing so does not equal 'banana republic'.

    To wit:

Here is a list of Western developed countries that have prosecuted and/or incarcerated former leaders, ministers, or presidents:

    • France:
      • Nicolas Sarkozy: Former President convicted of corruption and influence peddling in 2021.
      • Jacques Chirac: Former President convicted of embezzlement and misuse of public funds in 2011.
    • Italy:
      • Silvio Berlusconi: Former Prime Minister convicted of tax fraud in 2012.
    • Israel:
      • Ehud Olmert: Former Prime Minister convicted of bribery in 2014 and served prison time.
      • Moshe Katsav: Former President convicted of rape and other sexual offenses in 2010, served prison time.
    • Iceland:
      • Geir Haarde: Former Prime Minister found guilty of one charge related to the financial crisis of 2008, though he did not serve prison time.
    • South Korea (not Western but often included in discussions of developed democracies):
      • Park Geun-hye: Former President impeached and sentenced to prison for corruption in 2017.
      • Lee Myung-bak: Former President sentenced to prison for corruption in 2018.
    • Portugal:
      • José Sócrates: Former Prime Minister arrested and charged with corruption, money laundering, and tax fraud in 2014 (case ongoing).
    • Spain:
      • Rodrigo Rato: Former Minister of Economy and ex-IMF chief, convicted of embezzlement and served prison time starting in 2018.

True, but sooner or later, Trump is not going to be in the equation, yet his most radicalized members may not stop trying to push whatever they believe is a Trump agenda. Fanaticism is like a wildfire, just look at how it has consumed and obliterated the GOP.

I will answer that question with a question. Do you actually believe the US government has been or is now anything resembling the one envisioned by the founders?

Also, with luck, he'll go out in disgrace after his third or fourth convictions and that will discourage any of the actors pretending to be like him to continue doing so.

Thanks for the unrelated list but I don't know whether the prosecutions were political or not. In Trump's case I know it was political.
