    Good mornin' all.

Gotta take our dog to the veterinarian today, he has what I believe to be a mast cell tumor on his left leg that is going to require removal. I'm hoping it's benign and not malignant.

Mary, I got extra suntan lotion. How about we go get some Margaretta's and go for a walk down the beach.

You know I just thought of this.
I went to a festival down a marina a few months back. I got all decked out with a skirt and heels and all. No jeans and boots. Why? I felt a need to look hot. So anyway I'm all dressed up and go upstairs to the bar area and order a Margaretta. I get it with one of those red stirrer things. Now keep in mind, I'm an old fashion jeans, boots, leather, beer and pizza chick in a fancy place, dressed fancy with a drink and a stirrer thing. So my brain said..Falena dont drink this out of the cup. Go large and sip it out of the red thing. lol So I stir the thing all sexy like. Pray I can sip through it and not make an (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) out of myself if I cant and go for it. It worked and I sipped it out of the red thing. Mary know what? I felt like I padded my financial statement by a few hundred grand and was hotter than a come and get me branding iron. lmao. I will now always order a drink with a red thing when I am in a dress or skirt and heels.

Why I just said all this I dont know but...lets rip up the town, Mareeeeeeeee!

    Thanks, I appreciate that.

He's nine years old, and I read last night at CanineCancer.com (a great website BTW) that golden retrievers are prone to this happening. It's appearing right where they usually do (posterior thigh), and at the usual time of their lives, so I'm hoping it is early and we can have it removed before it spreads.

I'm not a veterinarian or an immunologist, but I read something last night that gave me pause. It said that these mast cell tumors are becoming more prevalent in dogs, and hypothesized that this is because of the dogs diet. A dog is by nature a carnivore, but most dog owners feed their dog a grain-based diet (dry dog food), and this diet causes their immune system to go haywire.

    I wonder...?

My MIL's dog had a mast cell tumor in his ear. The vet tried once to remove it and it came back. We kind of figured that was it. We made a decision to go for it one more time and she managed to get enough area surrounding the tumor and pack it with dissolving sponge material so there was no void for the area to refill. That was almost 6 or 8 months ago and the dog is fine. He's about 12. Hopefully, the area where that tumor is is an area that the vet can get enough surrounding tissue to remove any speck of that tumor.

Our coonhound died from renal failure from melamine poisoning from dog food. The vet actually verified it and we were compensated buy the food company. It was pennies and not the point. They poisoned the dog and owned that fact. Nutro dog food, brown rice and lamb and I thankfully had a can and bag left to prove we fed the dog that stuff. I believe it is a combination of the dog food, heartworm medication and most importantly the areas the dog get his shots. I honestly believe that.

Again, SC I hope all goes well at the vets.

Well that is all the bed rest I can handle today. Besides, it is snowing again. Not hard but steady. Not big flakes but small ones and they are accumulating a little to fast to suit me. So as soon as it stops, back outside I go. And not to worry cause I will take it slow and easy. I really don't feel like going through that again.

It will be OK. I am feeling a lot better today. I seem to have a lot of my strength back. It is amazing what a couple days of bed rest will do for you. Of course all of the medicine the doc pumped into me more than likely helped some to.

The results from all of the tests that the doc took came back and he said that I am as healthy as a horse. He thinks that I just overdid things a bit. He may be right to because between all of the shoveling and shampooing that I was doing in adddition all of the running around I was doing just drained my poor old battery.

That's so sweet of you to say Subman. We were so lucky to have him in the family. He definitely was a very special part of our family. Ill never understand how anyone can be mean to an animal. Actually I just dont understand how people can be mean to anything. Not like I'm not guilty of that myself but in the end life is so short. Its just so much easier to suck up all the love and warmth you can.

I think I better put this post in my folder for the next time I wanna rip someones head off. lmao

One more time because I love this song!

Well, it's exactly what I thought it was - a mast cell tumor.

They can't tell if it has spread any until they do some X-rays, then they'll know for sure, but on a cursory exam it appears to be a Stage I tumor, and the prognosis for them is very good.

We'll get him in for surgery in a couple of weeks when they have an opening, and hopefully that will be that.

Afterwards he's going to have to wear that doggie cone on his neck to keep him from licking it while it heals, and he is going to hate that with a passion!
