Now that we have finally seen the red tsunami. You lost the house, the senate, the supreme court, the popular vote...

This was clearly a message. It's up to you how you wish to interpret this message.

What's next? What do you want to see happen? What changes? Who runs in 2028?

This should be the ultimate signal that woke DEI hires are doomed to failure.

I would love to see a return to center left politics. Drop the identity politics. Drop mass migration. Drop equity. Drop the gender ****. I'd say pick a more center left candidate but Tulsi is now republican.

Obviously you would never agree to all of that, because it would dismantle everything posters have been defending with their lives since I joined these boards. But this is a course correction. There needs to be some kind of pivot.

Identity politics is manufactured and amplified by the right. It really comes down to the economy and if this was Trump's economy, he would be bragging about it up through election night. It's now a matter if Republicans can keep it going because looking at their record over past 50 years, they always find ways to screw it up. Dems could easily take back both houses of Congress in 2026 if Republicans can't at least keep the economy steady.

Yeah if the GOP doesn't improve things, they could lose congress.

Thinking nothing is wrong and full steam ahead with regards to policies is the absolute worse thing you could do.

Democrats aren't known for honest self reflection, nor bravery in the face of their own extremist whackjobs who control the Party.

I think it will takes more losses for them to have a real coming to Jesus moment. Until then, their crazies will shout and tantrum while the rest of them will lie low and falsely interpret any Republican screw ups as an endorsement of their radical anti-American ideology

In their minds, they just lost to Hitler. They are not claiming voter fraud...so they have to come to the conclusion that they lost the majority of Americans to Hitler. They need to now ask "how"?

Watch for things to go downhill in 1-3 years, then things will swing back. I realized it's actually pretty simple. People are unhappy? Those in power will lose power, regardless of whose fault it actually is. Trump's policies will lead to problems, and next time deservedly republicans will lose.

Yeah Americans are kind of a lost cause. My doubts about democracy have been steadily increasing, not that I ever had much faith in it. This general incompetence leads to the fall of democracies (at least in a practical sense, even Russia pretends to be democratic). As has happened throughout the world, probably here next.

Maybe AI will eventually save us from autocracy by helping more people understand things coming from an undeniably logical source, since autocracy is not actually optimal for productivity.

yeah because I am smart and I understand the issues 70% of the voters thought the country was on the wrong track. Other than abortion on demand, what actual issue did bubblhead push that rational Americans could support?

So far all they've got is because Americans are dumb, racist and sexist and they're the educated ones so listen to them....

Does make me wonder: how many Masters degrees does it take for them to experience a complex thought.

Understanding voters, which Trump undeniably does, and understanding policies, which I would argue he does not, are very different areas of competence... unfortunately for us.

Mass deportations and tariffs are not smart policies. Trump got elected because he's confident and people were unhappy. Unhappy voters don't tend to keep the same party in charge, for better or worse. Unfortunately, their analysis rarely extends beyond "things suck now compared to before." There is little successful thought towards why or how, and they get duped by the likes of Trump.

DEI has to be eliminated in state schools by state government and in federal employment.

His policies are actually not terrible -- and I agree with you about understanding voters, but where Trump imo has been terrible on is rather his understanding of washington. How to navigate effectively the complex world of politics, politicians, and the checks and balances of the system to get things done.

He's a good populist and a decent leader but a terrible politician in other words. Imo

The economy could be a lot better. New jobs numbers, largely government and immigrants, are pretty low. The stock market woke up today at the thought of Kamala/Democrats not controlling DC starting in January. The uncertainty of the election is behind us. We know when Trump took over in 2016 that he began deregulating our economy and protecting our industries. When Biden took over, he began clamping down. A major reason PA likely flipped is because under the Biden-Harris administration, they have attacked their energy jobs to an absurd and unnecessary degree. People don't vote for politicians who attack their livelihood.

    Noticed that, haven't ya?

There is a reason why the last 4 years have been horrible...and it can't be blamed on covid. It's policy. I've explained why the policy is bad. They just refuse to accept it.

New Jersey is always considered a swing state now.
