You don't have a right to vote. And why does it need to be "secured" along the lines of the nation?[/QUOTE]

Why is the matter being discussed when the popular vote does not determine the president of the united states? The vote by the electoral college is the only vote that truly matters.

It goes through the same system basically. If you win the state's popular vote, you win that state's electoral college votes, with exemption of Nevada and I think one other state. Plus local and state elections matter too.

It is both a right and a privilege. It needs to be secured because there are those that would cancel my vote through false ballots. Don't think you understand too much..

I've been under the impression, ID is required in every State. I guess that isn't so.

Do you believe in State's rights? How does your State determine if you are eligible to vote?

By a guy who'd been a Democrat for years. There is no evidence of fraud because Democrats refuse to permit any one to look
    In any meaningful way.

Actually no, it's a weird fact but you don't technically have a right to vote. It's weird, but it's kinda true.

So why is President Trump and the right so against voting by mail?

I guess for the same reason why colleges are against taking the SAT’s on line.

I guess for the same reason why delivery drivers won’t leave beer, wine or spirits on your front porch.

I guess for the same reason why the IRS won’t give a refund without a tax return.

I guess for the same reason why drug stores won’t refill a prescription without a doctor’s consent.

And I guess for the same reason why nearly every govt document you sign is preceded by the phrase “Under penalty of perjury...”

The reason is honesty. The left are the most dishonest, back stabbing hypocrites known to man. Voting by mail will have the likes of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and El Chapo casting votes.

If things are so bad that we're STILL social distancing to the point where we can't even vote in person In NOVEMBER, Trump is toast.

They don't want people looking up information about the conadidates?

You think minors are going to try to vote by mail?

Yet we can file and receive a refund without ever verifying anything in person with the IRS. Hmmm...

Because people can accidentally overdose on voting?

And mail in ballots are no exception.

Yeah, it's definitely the left that's the problem. Not the dozen or so instances of Republican voter fraud, big and small, over the last decade. Yep, definitely the left is the problem.

Are these the dozen or so instances of Republican voter fraud? The only problem is these instances involve the deceased, underage and illegals casting votes. Good thing I’m not in NY where I could be fined $250,000 for using the word “illegals” to define a group of immigrants that committed a crime and are now residing in the country illegally.

Virginia Man Pleads Guilty to Falsely Registering Dead People as Voters

Andrew J. Spieles admitted to filling out eighteen fake voter registration forms.
    • PUBLISHED 29 JUNE 2017
    • UPDATED 30 JUNE 2017

A 21-year-old Virginia man will spend between 100 and 120 days in prison after admitting that he submitted falsified voter registration forms, some of which contained the names of dead people.

Spieles admitted to delivering eighteen fake forms to the voter registrar’s office in Harrisonburg in August 2016. His intent was discovered, however, when an registrar’s office worker recognized that one of the names he submitted was that of a Rockingham County judge’s deceased father.

The United States Justice Department said in a statement that Andrew J. Spieles also said that he prepared false voter registration forms by using information taken from state Democratic Party “walk sheets”:

A CBS affiliate’s evidence of voter fraud in Colorado in September sparked an immediate investigation by Secretary of State Wayne Williams. A report in Denver exposed multiple incidents in recent years where dead Coloradans were still voting. A dead World War II veteran named John Grosso voted in a 2006 primary election, and a woman named Sara Sosa who died in 2009 cast ballots in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. Mrs. Sosa’s husband Miguel died in 2008, but a vote was cast in his name one year later.

A study by the watchdog Public Interest Legal Foundation found in just eight Virginia counties, 1,046 alien non-citizens successfully registered to vote. These aliens were only accidentally caught because when they renewed their driver’s license and self-reported, telling authorities they were a non-citizen.

Last year, Pennsylvania’s secretary of state admitted data showed more than 700 Pennsylvania voters might have cast two ballots in recent elections, yet said she’s powerless to investigate or prosecute double voters.

Nearly 43,000 voters in Pennsylvania had potentially duplicate registrations in either Pennsylvania or other states, data researcher Voter Registration Data Crosscheck found.

At least 86 non-citizens have been registered voters in Philadelphia since 2013, and almost half of them have cast a ballot in a recent election, watchdog Public Interest Legal Foundation noted this month. The number was only turned up after officials received specific requests from the voters themselves to remove their names from the rolls.

Voter rigging triggers probe in Texas.

This week, allegations of voter fraud in Tarrant County, Texas, prompted a state investigation. The suit focuses on mail-in ballots, which allows for people to vote from their homes without any ID or verification of identity. There’s concern of so-called “vote-harvesting” were political operatives fill out and return other people’s ballots, without their consent.

According to a local NBC report, Indiana State Police are in the midst of a statewide investigation into possible voter registration fraud.

“Police believe there could be hundreds of fraudulent voter registration records with different combinations of made up names and addresses with people’s real information,” NBC 12 reported.

The police encourage victims of suspected voter fraud to report it to Indiana’s secretary of state.

An investigation is underway into three Comanche County, Oklahoma, residents who voted twice in last week’s Presidential Preferential Primary, according to the local ABC 7 News station, KSWO.

“All three submitted absentee ballots before showing up to their polling place on March 1 and voted again in person,” the report said. “The Comanche County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the case and will interview all three of them before handing the case over to the district attorney.”

A Franklin County grand jury has indicted a Pike County man in June on multiple felony counts of election fraud in connection with last month’s statewide primary.

Keith Justice, 50, has been charged with four counts of intimidating an election officer and one count of interfering with an election officer in Pike County.

Brown County election officials in April found six cases where underage voters cast a ballot in the state’s presidential primary. County Clerk Sandy Juno told a local reporter that six 17-year-old students registered and voted. Despite five of the students presenting a valid ID, poll workers never looked at the date of birth on them or on the registration forms they filled out, Ms. Juno told local news website wearegreenbay.com. In one case, the student used a report card as identification.

Voter registration cards sent to illegals in Pennsylvania. In September, the secretary of state’s office in Pennsylvania mailed about 2.5 million voter registration postcards to people who are not registered voters, but are licensed drivers.

Both the right and the left have examples of voter fraud. I’m sure each would justify it by saying they were just trying to offset the other side doing it. Adding more opportunity for either or both side to commit fraud thru the mail is a dumb ideal.

The rest of your post in non sense and weak attempts to deflect from the message that we need to have integrity in the examples given. None of which are as important as the integrity of the vote for the most important elected position on Earth.

So no, we are not voting in mass by mail Nancy. Now sit down and start your next failed impeachment or whatever nonsense you think will get you attention.

Virtually everyone has access to ID.

And when you say "Trump and the Right" - you are leaving out Justice Stephens and our long time Foreign Elections monitor, former US President Jimmy Carter.

IT’S ALL ABOUT FRAUD: Heed Jimmy Carter on the Danger of Mail-In Voting: ‘Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.’

“Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.” That quote isn’t from President Trump. It’s the conclusion of the bipartisan 2005 report of the Commission on Federal Election Reform, chaired by former President Jimmy Carter and former Secretary of State James Baker III.

Concerns about vote-buying have a long history in the U.S. They helped drive the move to the secret ballot, which U.S. states adopted between 1888 and 1950. Secret ballots made it harder for vote buyers to monitor which candidates sellers actually voted for. Vote-buying had been pervasive; voter turnout fell by about 8% to 12% after states adopted the secret ballot.

You wouldn’t know any of this listening to the media outcry over Mr. Trump’s remarks. “There is a lot of dishonesty going on with mail-in voting,” the president said Tuesday. In response, a CNN “fact check” declares that Mr. Trump “opened a new front in his campaign of lies about voter fraud.” A New York Times headline asserts: “Trump Is Pushing a False Argument on Vote-by-Mail Fraud.” Both claim that voter fraud is essentially nonexistent. The Carter-Baker report found otherwise.

Intimidation and vote buying were key concerns of the commission: “Citizens who vote at home, at nursing homes, at the workplace, or in church are more susceptible to pressure, overt and subtle, or to intimidation. Vote buying schemes are far more difficult to detect when citizens vote by mail.” The report provides examples, such as the 1997 Miami mayoral election that resulted in 36 arrests for absentee-ballot fraud. The election had to be rerun, and the result was reversed.

There are more recent cases, too. In 2017 an investigation of a Dallas City Council election found some 700 fraudulent mail-in ballots signed by the same witness using a fake name. The discovery left two council races in limbo, and the fraud was much larger than the vote differential in one of those races. The case resulted in a criminal conviction. . . .

It is often claimed that impossibly large numbers of people live at the same address. In 2016, 83 registered voters in San Pedro, Calif., received absentee ballots at the same small two-bedroom apartment. Prosecutors rarely pursue this type of case.

Mail-in voting is a throwback to the dark old days of vote-buying and fraud. Because of this, many countries don’t allow absentee ballots for citizens living in their country, including Norway and Mexico. Americans deserve a more trustworthy system.

EVERY state has absentee ballots that are ALL vote by mail.

If a state doesn't ALREADY have a secure vote by mail system, then they have a major problem RIGHT NOW!!

And, that is a problem that my state of WA, OR and CO (possibly others) have already solved.

Carter was referring to a problem that existed in almost all states at that time.

He was NOT suggesting that there is no system of voting by mail that could be secure.

My state of WA as well as OR and CO (possibly more) vote by mail exclusively.

    It's MORE secure.

It doesn't allow for the polling place tactics of those in power used to sway elections.

It provides FAR more equal access to citizens.

It provides a paper trail that can be analyzed if need be - unlike the ancient and hackable machines many states still use.

Vote by mail can be fully secure - offering far LESS opportunity for voter fraud.

And, it eliminates the fraud related to polling places.

Aren't those all Democrat controlled states? To get an absentee ballot, I believe you must have some kind of voter ID. Am I wrong?

Why is Trump (and the GOP) against it?

Outside of the FACT that they know if everybody votes that Trump WILL LOSE in a Landslide?

    Good question.:salute:

In WA, I get a ballot mailed to me, because I'm a legally registered voter. This system does require maintenance and respect for our registation database.

My ballot has my barcode on it. If the ballot is copied, it will get rejected as a bar code duplicate. If the signature doesn't match my registration signature then it will be rejected (like if the wrong person signs a check). I'll get notified in either case, so I can fix the problem. If I don't, the ballots won't count. I can find out online if my ballot was counted.

I get my ballot a couple weeks before the election cutoff, so I can vote in the middle of the night if I want. There is none of this crap about having too little equipment, long lines, moving or evaporating polling places, misleading dirctions on hours, etc. Every registered voter has exactly the same opportunity.

This system was designed under the leadership of our REPUBLICAN Secretary of State - which is the office that has conrol of election process.

And, there are many states that have mail in ballots, but NOT this level of security.

Polling place voting is RIFE with crime.

Look what happened to Stacey Abrams.

We need to move away from polling places, gerrymandering and other such activity that IS engineered to defeat democracy and make your vote count less.

Plus, preventing the American citizens of Washington, D.C. from having congressional representation should count as a crime against our constitution, too.

Beyond that, we have territories that are governed by our federal government, but who have NO say in any federal election - congressional or presidential, and whose issues involving trade, borrowing, and who pay taxes to the USA but have no representation. (Yes, taxation of American citizens living on American soil, with no representation.)
