That last song, I think, is a good set up, for my offering for "Q." Since way back at "Y," I've wanted to clarify, that when I was basically just noting the different style of Elvis's later songs, from his early ones, and threw in an Englebert Humperdinck song, for comparison, it was not because I am in any way, shape, or form, a Humperdinck fan. I only chose that particular song, because I thought it had an element akin to the Moody Blues song, which I do like, and also wanted to include in the grouping, "Go Now."

That all explained, there is, however, one Englebert Humperdinck song, IMO, that can be kind of fun, and worth listening to, if you're in the right mood; and to the benefit of keeping this list rolling along, its title begins with the unpopular starting letter, of "Q."

    Quando, Quando, Quando

Here, it is choreographed to a dance number, and sung by Fergie.

The Samba (Bosso Nova) roots of the song, are especially apparent, in this mellow version. I like the creamy tone, and softness, of Giada Valenti's voice:

This seems to be an Italian actress (Caterina Valente), singing the song in Finnish. Interesting, and upbeat.

Of course, the song's original language is Italian, which is what this version is in, fully:

Luckily, "S" & "T" are the most prolific letters, for providing songs I'd like to post so, if someone else picks up "R," I'll try to dash off those other two, quickly (for me).

This first one is a simple song, but still an atypical one, in the way that the various instrumental voices, seem to stay separate from one another. I find it very cheerful.

Well, @DEFinning, at least we're making progress.

Took less than 24-hours for that Van Halen post to appear.

Perhaps Mr. Joel will check-in even sooner -

To get us all caught up, and ready for "V," I might as well pick up the missed letter R, myself, with another Bad Company song.

    Ready For Love

I want to include one studio version, because all the live versions use only guitar, leaving out the organ and piano, which I think add to the song:

The two live versions, you have to go to You Tube, to hear, are worth the trip-- especially the top one, at the Hard Rock Cafe.

why this guy is not in the R&R Hall of fame is almost as puzzling as why Jethro Tull is not and some jokes like NWA and the "Beastie Boys" are

I hadn't been familiar with that one. It's good.

P.S.-- any ideas for "V?" We seem to be stuck there, for the moment.

Interesting, that I didn't too much care for their original singer's version; but the second version, which seemed to be in tribute to him-- the kinds of things that are generally never as good, with the replacement singer-- I thought was pretty good. It has a much better flow to it.

Now, I can complete a set of related selections, begun back at the last time we'd been at W, with "Whenever I Call You Friend." Then, at G, I threw in the Golden Girls theme song, "Thank you For Being A Friend."

So, can anyone guess, what's coming up, for Y?

    Your A Friend Of Mine

I'm not sure if this is better with, or without, the video, so I'll provide both choices.

Since we started posting some Stones songs-- though I am not a huge fan, it is hard to not find at least some of their songs, to suit one's taste. I think this is one of their better numbers.

    Beast of Burden

So far, I haven't found a really good live version, but Bette Midler, does a decent job:

No video, but the best sound:

    Clumsy-- Fergie

I seem to do this a lot, but I just want to make clear, I am not a Fergie fan, generally speaking (in fact, she has one song in which "Grey Goose" vodka figures prominently, which I cannot stand). But I really like the eclectic mix of sounds in this one. There is a little bit of an Asian flavor, to me, in the smooth verses (with the electronic staccato, like from a video game, in the background). Once she gets to the part with the repeated "Oh"s, the rhythm starts to draw you in; then comes the much starker contrast, than one often sees in pop tunes, anymore-- with not only a different timbre, but in a different style. Yet, like a leaf, after being erratically tossed, in a sudden, burst of breeze, this refrain drops one lightly into place, ready to glide down the verse's gentle stream, once more.

Again, not sure if this might not be better w/out the video (see "Y"); but you can choose.

Ha! When I saw your "Uptown Girl," post, I'd assumed that you'd received the seal of approval. But, obviously, there is still some delay, since this post appeared, after I had already moved on to cover Y, A, B, and C. The funny part is the random, and unlikely coincidence, that the song you happened to pick for V-- Ventura Hwy-- would be by the same group that I had picked, to cover "A"-- using America's "A Horse With No Name," if you haven't already noticed. I mean, think about it: if I told you to think of any group, what would be the odds that I could guess what it was, even if I was trying to, in four guesses (or in two)?

    Classy lady.

Good video, too. While the ending would certainly be applicable, to many-- I found it unexpected, in her video. Yet, trying to imagine other possible ways, for depicting the complexity of emotion, at the heart of Keyes' song, made me realize that this image seems the least suggestive of something so superficial, as just a capricious infatuation, or as one's partner, having cheating heart.
