Isn't America's greatest export today pornography?
That about sums up your Allied victory in a nutshell.

That's hilarious. Calling the downfall of Nazi Germany, a totalitarian police state, a defeat for liberty. Western Europe was liberated, while Eastern Europe changed hands from Hitler's totalitarian police state to Stalin's totalitarian police state.

You like to use a lot of words that sound good, like "liberated", that have no foundation in reality. Turning Europe into a pile of rubble is not liberation, it's conquest.
A real example of liberation would be the Soviet slaves throwing flowers at the feet of German soldiers as they marched towards Moscow to destroy the most evil ideology in human history.

You don't have to agree with me. The collapse of American "civilization" and the complete victory of Marxism over the American character is proof enough that you're absolutely wrong.

Not to excuse the actions of the Soviets, but why wouldn't they take half of Poland. If sure Stalin's thinking at the time was the last thing he would want was the Germans on his border. As paranoid aas he was, why didn't he worry about the threat Hitler posed, is beyond me.

Nazism was just as evil as the Soviet regime. The only difference is that apparently Stalin was a little better at mass murder.

The Russians welcomed the Germans as liberators. That is, until they actually got a taste of Nazi Administration.

To discuss the German invasion of Poland in 1939 and not mention the Soviets were their allies is dishonest. I have met adults in the U.S. who aren't aware that both the USSR and France were allies of Germany in WWII.

I think we should quit telling children that Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves in the U.S. because that's a lie.

When I taught my children about the Holocaust, because my son's junior high history teacher told him the Holocaust never happened, we also discussed that there were other holocausts before the Germans and their have been other holocausts since.

The last slave in the White House belonged to the family of President U.S. Grant. There were northern slave states during the Civil War.

we are told that the reason why Stalin made a deal with Hitler, is because the Soviets were not read to take on Germany in a full-scale war.

well, if that's the case, why then did the Soviets have to also invade and steal much of Poland? why did they murder tens of thousands of Poles...and deport hundreds of thousands more?

looks like the Soviets made a pact with Nazis, because they shared a sense of arrogant aggression and hatred of Poland.

Because Poland was weak and ripe for the taking, and while Britain and France wanted to prop up Poland, British/French Nationals didn't really want to fight(You have to remember, this was only two decades AFTER the Great War). Combined with their indecisiveness, as well as with the Blitzkrieg, Poland fell.

The reason Stalin didn't expand further was to build his imperial forces. The Russian Dilemma wasn't all that different from Germany's. High unemployment.

The major difference? Hitler used economic incentives to drive production, Stalin used a shotgun! Both may have committed war crimes, but to Stalin we Humans were less than Humans.

    Taxcutter says:
For a military moron like Stalin, nabbing a slice of Poland was very useful. It gave the Soviets a hundred kilometers more strategic depth. If the Germans had had a hundred less kilometers to go, they may have taken Moscow before it rained in the fall of 1941.

Poland held a special place in Stalins heart after the disastrous battle of Warsaw in 1920. He was the political officer for the southern flank which was the one that crumbled under an intense counter attack which ultimately decided the battle and the war. It was Stalins disorganized communication system that is often blamed from the Russians not reacting fast enough. He was pretty lucky politically to survive that.

But the real prize for the Soviets was not Poland, it was the green light given by the Nazis to re-occupy the Baltic states in return for turning a blind eye on German interests in Hungary and Romania.

one has to wonder how the war would have gone if Stalin refused to sign a treaty with the Nazis.

I think it would have been an absolute game changer. Both countries could not contain their right flanks, especially the Soviets. I think over all the the machinations are so extreme, any scenario would have a good chance. Perhaps a more intriguing question might be - Where would the world be today if Stalin had kept his nose out of the German Communist party.

if the Social Democrats, Communists, and Centrists worked together, they could have prevented the Nazi take-over in 1933.

I think the question any decent tea party American should be asking is : How do we tie in Obama with this whole Hitler/Stalin WW2 thing?

Maybe its just everyone has a flare for the dramatic. Bush was Super Hitler, and Obama is a Kenyan Muslim Communist.

Yeah thats probably a valid point. I should start messing with people and start comparing Bush and Obama to the most obscure fascist and Communist dictators I can find :)

The total victory of Communism? Ok, how about you show us where all these Communist nations are? The rest of your post is a rant based in fantasy.

Of course you ignore that Hitler was doing his damndest to turn Europe into rubble all by himself. Warsaw was the starting point. 85% bombed into rubble by the Luftwaffe. By the way, whatever happened to your beloved 'master race'?

Vichy France was an 'ally' of Germany under duress. In truth they had little choice. That does not mean that the rest of the country was.

Isn't that cute? Really, the question any decent leftists should be asking is how to we absolve Stalin of any culpability like we do the Glorious Leader. Oh, wait, I get it. He was just invading Poland to buy time.
