I enjoyed season 1 of Discovery, found 2 to be up and down, started watching 3, lost interest and never got back to it. I don't have Paramount+ anymore

Wallace Shawn is not known to play nice with other actors. He was a terrible character.

I didn’t find Bashir to be an interesting character at all. Those episodes with his loony bin friends were terrible.

Once they gave his character a little more he had some interesting episodes. I think he wasn't that great of an actor. But I liked his dynamic with O'Brian.

I liked the first season of Westworld. In the first season, the time jump was actually part of the plot which led to a nice reveal. Season 2 and on, I dunno what was happening. It was garbage as far as I can tell and gave up on it.

Peripheral was actually (spoiler alert)...a reverse simulation. So I thought it was actually a clever and original idea.

Picard on the other hand.. that turned into quite the disappointment. I thought there was going to only be one season and it should have been just one. And old man with a terminal disease coming to terms with his mortality. Instead they subverted that and "saved" Picard by transferring a copy of his mind into an android made to look like 93 year old Picard. Terrible. So the audience knows that Picard actually died, but for some reason we're supposed to treat the robot like he was Picard. Just terrible...

Unfortunately I could not really get into Discovery. The only part that I was really excited to see was the old Enterprise with Pike and his crew. The section 31 stuff was promising but I hated the Klingon house angle they were going for. One of these days I will try to finish Discovery. For now I would highly recommend Strange New Worlds.

Not to mention Renee was an incredible actor. I've enjoyed him since Benson, and he always brigs his characters to life.

Well the critics loved it. And have critics ever been wrong?

I can see why @cristiansoldier thought that Polydectes was calling Patrick Stewart gay. A previous post stated that the character Jean Luc Picard is gay and this was followed by Polydectes post that was quoted above. Saying that ‘it’s not enough that the actor’ — what actor? — that ‘actor’, one would naturally assume, would be the actor that plays Jean Luc Picard — Patrick Stewart. That message was not clear or specific. We can only read words and if the underlying message is not clear, how is one to determine the real meaning. Perhaps, a better way to have said it would have been ‘It’s not enough that when an actor is LGBT, the character has to be… ‘. There is a difference between ‘the actor’ and ‘an actor’.

Critics are never wrong. But that only because they are expressing an opinion. The question is did they judge accurately with what the general population judged. Personally I have found that I am often in opposition to critics. I love many of the things they don't and can be "eh" on that which they praise. So I'm often making a point of seeing what was judged poor by critics. Of course the face that I love B movies and the style might have something to do with that

Personally I have enjoyed every incarnation of ST that has been out there, with TAS probably being on the bottom of the list. I won't lie in saying I was disappointed in Enterprise, but that was because we didn't get a lot of what was promised. But outside that context I enjoyed the series well enough.

As we see all too clearly every single single time we turn on our televisions, there's no such thing as a "diverse enough cast" on the networks or their commercials and promos anymore. Blacks make up just slightly less than 14% of the U. S. population today, but from what you see, endlessly, on every channel on the air, you'd swear that Blacks make up at least 1/3rd of the population! Why?

This "VIP+" database you referenced turns out to be a wholly-owned subset of the "Variety" corporation. It is rated by mediabiasfactcheck.com as having a "Left-Center Bias": https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/variety-magazine/

From the article: "These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information, but may require further investigation."

We should always know the source for 'information', and never doubt the evidence of our eyes -- especially when it is repeated every single time you turn your television on!

[IMG]. Yeah...uh-huh... THAT "Variety" magazine.... 8) .
